1  Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: Independence Referendum on: September 08, 2014, 11:24:18 PM
I read through this thread and despair with the misinformation (albeit unknowingly) reproduced.

Scotland is an ancient nation, much like Ireland, England and Wales, Scotland more than pays its own way, As a result Scotland funds it's own free prescriptions, university education and so on from its own purse.  This is NOT subsidised from the rest of the UK taxpayer. If you don't believe me, feel free to research the figures, go back 100 years if you like, you will find Scotland has contributed a lot more than it's ever got back for at least that long. ( that's before oil!)

I appreciate some of the folks on here will take what information is spoon fed by the media to which they subscribe, wether that's be a left wing outlet or right wing outlet you always get a jaded review of circumstances.

for what it's worth, Scottish independence will be a gift for the English/welsh/ Northern Irish working classes who can with renewed vigour reclaim the power from a London centric government and make your individual countries great again.

As things stand Great Britain is not so great, and the UK has not been "United" for a long time.

Hi buddy, long time no see.

I really don't post here all that often, this thread however really is quite an eye opener, so many opinions and half truths pedalled as fact which is wrong on so many levels it's Meta.

Let me clarify a few small points.

Scotland has been contributing more per head financially to this union than any other country within it. Yet Scotland gets a lot less back and less investment than the rest of the UK.

The scottish independence question is to give the residents of scotland a chance of self determination, managing all of it's own affairs, no more lumped debts accrued by Westminster to develop the south east and the city of London dumped on Scotland's balance sheet.

We as a nation have the right to manage our own affairs, how would the people of England feel if their investment needs, voting preferences and socialist programmes were marginalised by a government that outvotes you 10:1.

Right now Scotland's wealth from, whisky, oil and gas, income taxes renewables is all flowing straight to the Westminster exchequer who squanders this money.

Facing facts the UK is on a bankruptcy spiral, Scotland can no longer subsidise the rest of the UK ( which it does, anyone who disagrees needs to check the actual figures)

Now as for the issue of EU, scotland is already a member of the EU, after independence a successor state must be determined, this has not yet happened.  Even if rUK was the successor state that means 5.3 million EU citizens would b thrown out over night? Sure let me watch that happen. Particularly when Scotland has huge green energy potential, the best fishing waters in Europe and massive oil and gas reserves on both the east and west coast. Apply lashings of common sense here folks. Scotland's individual membership will be rushed through the EU parliament without issue.

Currency- the pound is just as Scottish as it is Welsh as it is English and Northern Irish, it's an asset of the state and will be shared as such. Even a senior Tory has confirmed the threat of no currency union is just a tactic to scare the electorate.  In addition it would be better for scotland not to have a currency union, the whole reason for the currency union proposal wast to not "beggar thy neighbour", should the Bank of England lose the balance of payments scotland brings to the party the rest of the UK would be in deep schtook.

The proposal is there to keep the trading union in place.

One more thing, the reason the YES campaign is gaining ground every day and the no campaign is losing voters like myself is simple, I like many of my countrymen will not be told to be scared of the unknown, particularly by privileged millionaire and Etonians who have taken a bad situation and made it worse.

By the way, before someone brings up Scottish banks... The US federal reserve bailed them out more than the UK ever did, also it was the London based investment arms ( which were bought by scottish banks ) that accrued massive debts and lost billions. The part run from and in scotland has always been profitable.  So next time one of these right wing jock bashing rags you read blames the Scots, remember it was some English , Dutch, German , Japanese, scottish and many other nationalities of individuals which caused the problem working from London, not some jock sitting in Edinburgh.

The real shame of this referendum is that it's becoming an "them and us" argument rather than what is best for Scotland.

Everyone has their own political opinions. Scotland on the whole is more left wing and I wouldn't be speaking out of turn to generalise and say scotland has no real love for the Tories.

Regardless of what's voted for in Scotland it gets saddled with whatever Westminster government  is voted for throughout the rest of the UK.

Independence gives Scotland the chance to control a small number of elected MSP's, vote in and vote out who scotland believes should control the reigns.

My opinion for what it's worth is Westminster does not work unless you reside in the south east of England, if I had my way I'd break up the central power structure and have regional governments with the heads of each region  working together for the nation,

At present we have a bloated House of Commons, a bloated House of Lords  and far too many special interest groups lobbying mp's.

Another important change I'd make to the status quo is all politicians must be on the minimum wage, a house would be provided at the heart of their constituency however it would remain the property of the state for the next elected person.

Not saying this is the case at all- but admittance of guilt in court for smaller charges when up for a bigger charge doesnt always mean guilt- more so in America than here as far as im aware but i assume its still prevalent here in terms of plea bargaining

Admitting it is one thing but the images do not get on to his hard drive by magic do they ?

in the eyes of the law yeah, however its not like he knocked over a post office or stole a car, what he did is much much worse, you can not calculate the fallout of what he has cone as these children will need to live with it for the rest of their lives, They need to adapt & in some cases, children never learn to deal with it.

Like i said in my previous post, its in my opinion and i will let the local casinos know my opinion & hope that enough other players will share my views to ensure he cant mingle with the rest of us.

Its come to my attention this Kiddie porn loving sick bastard is out and playing the tourneys in Glasgow, particularly in the Mint Glasgow and the Riverboat.  It seems he feels he has the right to mingle with normal folks although he has a fondness for child porn and liked to beat up small children for fun.

I don't know about many of you, but i feel sick to my stomach, I know I do not want him seated next to me, or even in the same tourney as I am when playing poker. Now before anyone says " paid his dept  or served his time" and all that bull shit, Kiddie porn and child abuse sentences are not harsh enough in my opinion, so a few years in a modern country club prison is not punishment enough.

the point of my post is to  let folk know this scum is out there and could be beside you next time you are at the felt, share nothing with him, do not befriend him, Lend him nothing and do not offer him a room for the night, especially of you have kids, and do not let him use your computer!.

if you said there was a lucky bastard hack I might have agreed, but I haven't seen anyone I thought could see me through a wall or aimbotting.

When you say they've ruined sniping and kill streaks are rubbish I probably think the opposite because I'm not a camper Tongue

No system could ever be hack proof, so the claim is laughable to start with.

Ruining sniping does not mean they have removed the option to camp, people still camp all over the place, but there are so few sniper spots, there is no option to snipe and move to alternate spots like there was in previous games, and if you have not seen aimbot or wall hack yeh on 360, just youtube it, there are a few videos up already

You can now get wallhack & aimbot bundled, now that comes with a recoil modifier, which gives no recoil on all guns, It colour schemes the opposition nearest are red, farther away are green, mid distance are yellow through orange, you can auto see all explosive devices, and you can have 5 perks.

All the hype and bull shit treyarch came up with " our game is gonna be hackproof" was utter peesh. They have even killed sniping in Black ops too with the map layouts, the gillie suits are piss poor and the kill streaks are a joke.

i'm just glad i got my money back.
