Excellent site imo and each level of membership has more added content.
Have not been a member for awhile but really enjoyed my time using it.
Loved Tomsom's 180 vids.

Hi ,

So just wondered amongst the hard-core bum hunters (such as myself)

Glad this turned out to be about poker
Oh dear haha
5  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Hand ranges and optimal playing style for the first 4 levels in a 2 day comp? on: March 18, 2015, 03:51:21 AM
Busting or getting that huge stack is the thing though. A more conservative style
will not put you in a position to get the huge stack you speak of unless the stars
align.

Personally feel going into any game of poker with a set plan of how to play
is not the best strategy. Play each hand and the opponents on merit.

Agree with the second paragraph completely. It contradicts the first paragraph pretty heavily though!
Going for the massive stack early is not part of my game in terms of playing a larger number of
starting hands. Was just addressing the merits of such a style in the first paragraph.

Glad you concur with the second as that is what I try to base my play on. Think it's foolish
to set out with a rigid approach to playing NLHE as there are endless variables.
To quote Bruce Lee "Be formless, shapeless - like water. Water can flow or it can crash.”

Each play is different with regards to stack size, actual position,
players behind and our general competence. Like I said if you
are not fully confident with your post flop play and seem to get in spots
where you commit your whole stack and lose then 100% yes tighten up
the range.

With time you will become more comfortable playing a wider range but
keep working at it don't just explode with aggression when you might not be
ready. Strong advocate of playing in position but also like to have at least a half
decent starting hand with some kind of playability.
Look up The Gap Concept by Sklansky that helped me a lot from the off.

We still have to have some kind of holding we don't simply ISO purely
down to position. The whole edge comes from being in the pot with both
the advantage of position and on the whole a much stronger range.

Coupled with the advantage of being a better poker player not merely
clicking buttons and hoping we fold out all of there non value hands, we
should be comfortable playing our hand for a start. Then we punish these
players with our perceived post flop edge.

Would not worry to much about these concepts just play as you are comfortable
playing and when the moment does arise to play these kind of hands then do it
but certainly don't look to do it with ATC. Our edge comes like I said from being able
to range them or knowing from bet timing/size tells or use of our HUD what
kinds of hands this player likely holds and acting accordingly from there.
9  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: $3.50 45man PS Turbo jamjamjam on: March 11, 2015, 03:21:57 AM
There is absolutely no case whatsoever for a fold.  Unless you didn't win the pot.  Then folding is fine.
Promise I did not post because of the outcome. Was just on my mind after instinct was fistpump jam.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Ps fully assume we do the same at all stakes right?
10  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / $3.50 45man PS Turbo jamjamjam on: March 09, 2015, 09:15:23 PM
21 Players remain. Blinds 200/400/25 UTG AIP for 845 folds round to me in the cutoff holding  and 2900 stack I ship all
in. Is there any case for a fold here? Felt like a fistpump jam.

No real reads as HUD was down and I had not been on this table long. Was pretty certain that the UTG Jam would have had a super wide range.

Works really well. Fair play to the person who put the Shot Clock in practice.
More hands got played and everybody understood the need to act in good time.
14  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: The Skillfulness of Online Poker Is Leading to its Downfall? on: January 15, 2015, 06:16:44 AM
Great way to explain what happens online. I tried to put it into words
this week with a few players how online is not rigged but the skill level
is or can be higher and it can be harder for people to control emotions while
in the comfort of there own home. Very good piece thanks for sharing.

Good read Al. Have always respected the fact you just make things happen. Will have to dust
those "Speak Norwegian" CD's off. All the very best for 2015.
