Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DUSK TILL DAWN - HAVE YOUR SAY AT THE COURT HEARING..............

I would like to play poker at Dusk Till Dawn because there is nowhere else in the UK to go and play what has become a very popular pastime throughout the country without having to be amongst table games with a house edge, and be subject to the promotions and influence of the companies trying to attract me to said games.
It would be SO refreshing to be able to play with like-minded others in a dedicated, safe and regulated environment free from distractions and profiteering.

The way I try to look at this is from a long-term perspective rather than the tournament in isolation. Yes, there were a range of hands that had me beat and some that had me dominated, but there were also many scenarios where I could have been ahead, what with such a drawing heavy board.
Also knowing more about the style mjtr plays than I would against a random opponent, and knowing that he is capable of making this move on a draw or perhaps even worse if he thinks I'm at it, I maintain that calling is correct here. I think over the long term it's a profitable move.
I await thoughts/abuse...

Poker Forums / The Rail / 3 nights in Vegas - tips on where to play (for a Vegas virgin)
|
on: June 05, 2006, 07:54:42 PM
|
I know this has question been posted a thousand times before, but I'm hoping for some advice from anyone who may have been over relatively recently.
I'll be hitting Vegas for the first time in a couple of weeks, for 3 nights, as the culmination of a LA/San Fran/Vegas road trip.
I'll have my good lady tagging along, but I'm hoping she'll be kept busy at the spa/shopping etc. so hopefully I'll have a decent amount of time to devote to poker.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or experience of the best places to play. I'm there Saturday 17th - Tuesday 21st, staying at the Bellagio.
Not that interested in cash games, would like to play a few multis and maybe some single tables as well. I'm not a high stakes player by any means, so would be looking at buy-ins between about $100-$300 or so, the easier the competition the better!
Any pearls of wisdom?
Thanks in advance.

Mikky, Rod,
I was under the impression that the Thursday game was a 21:00 start, am I wrong or has it changed. It usually doesn't get going until around 21:10 or so if I remember correctly...
Definitely think there needs to be more structure in terms of tournaments and what's on each night, I had a couple of mates who headed down for the first time Wednesday night, signed in and walked in only to find just Sid and one other staff member there! They promptly had to leave again...

I almost pished myself when he came out with that, as I was the short stack, I was laughing!! Good job on the dealing, and keep those 'special' third hole cards coming my way, they help a lot!! Cheers.

Rod, sorry but I strongly disagree with that. While Cincinnati's may have a very high ceiling, the smoking is still a problem. I am still forced to breathe it in when sitting at the table, even if it does eventually rise. And even with the most considerate smoker, you are still being subjected to the toxins, whether the smoke is breathed directly at you or not. The damning evidence is in the fact that when you get home after an evening playing, your clothes will REEK of smoke. If it can permeate clothes to such an extent then it is getting to your lungs as well.

Think it's a standalone network so shouldn't be any conflicts with alternative skins. Pretty horrific software so it doesn't surprise me folk are seeing issues, but it's worth it for the fishing...
