I have decided to post here rather than next door as I have enough haters and slaters there!
1) I was disappointed in the deal being done so quick when it got to H/U TBH. For the followers of the live stream, it was like a F1 race finishing 10 laps from the end. However, having never been in that situation, I understand it was the players choice to do want they wish, but would of liked Sky Poker to of perhaps evoked DTD's rule of 'no deals'.
2) The discussion of tips etc was unfortunate to be heard by all on the stream but that has since been explained now. I would however like to flip it the other way though and say I am glad that I heard it, as it would not of crossed my mind before, but will do now if ever I am in that position in the future.
3) Still unsure about a 'book' being opened by players participating in the event. Again, unsure of the relevance of this point but this maybe should of been kept in house on here and not broadcast on the live stream?
4) As a prominent Sky Poker event, should the updates be more concentrated on that forum rather than on here? I understand that members here would only want to follow members from here. I also understand that those who wear two hats, it is a juggling act between the two and I can envisage how difficult it can be at times.
I hope the above is taken how it is meant to be BTW, which is constructive critism/observation. If not, flame away.......
**Finally, well done Mr Rob Young on his performance in the event and his donation of his winnings to charity**.
Hi Alan,
You've a very long way to go to match my total of haters & slaters.......
1) That was a matter for the 2 players. It happens in almost every Live Poker Event, & is the players right. Why is that a problem for those not involved? I bet that 80% of my Fessie Cashes ended in "business".
The DTD "Rules" Deal was fully complied with, we did not over-rule them, or bring our own rules in, we submitted entirely to DTD's rules on that matter.
The players had no duty or responsibility to vary their play to suit the "audience" or the Live Stream.
I would have preferred to see it played out, just because it makes for a better climax, but I have no criticism of them for chopping, none whatsoever. If you were Heads Up in their spot would you be bothered about the best deal for yourself & your family, or would you refuse to deal so as to satisfy the Live Stream audience who were viewing for free?
Fair response. I did say it was an observation but it seems to of come across as critism which it was not meant to be. I honestly thought there was a no deal policy at DTD2) You are the 2nd person to suggest it was "unfortunate" that my comment as to tips was broadcast. Why?
I personnely did not have any issue with it but you have apologised already on here for it so I am a bit non plussed by your stance against me now about it. I really don't understand why that is, to be honest. I simply made them aware that the prize money was being paid into their account, & as Rich Prew was blowing down my ear to remind them, I passed it on.
I did say "IF" you wish to leave a tip, too, I did not say they should, or hint so.
Why should I do that covertly, hand covering my microphone, all secret-wecret, as if it were something that I was ashamed of, or underhand?
It may have been unprofessional - guilty as charged - but I had a stream microphone in one hand, Rich Prew asking me to make sure the lads knew the score, me trying to pass Tighty's message on, & in my other hand I was on my Mobile 'phone, as I was waiting to be patched through to the 861 Studio to do the Live Phone-In, the timing of which was spectacularly awkward for me.
Why the need for secrecy over a standard conversation? I must be missing the point completely. Surely everyone knows about these things?
3) I'm a little uncomfy with that, too, but it was a matter for Alex, & not a Sky Poker matter.
However, again, I don't have, want, or need skeletons in my or Sky Poker's cupboard, or secrets, so I'd much rather get on the front foot & make sure people are aware, rather than someone "revealing" it at a later date, perhaps to embarrass the Business. It WAS a highly unusual situation, but I did not want the facts twisted by someone else, so you heard it as it happened. The whole Sky Poker "Live Stream" thing is not designed or intended to be a "formal" belt & braces affair, it is intended (by me) to be informal, intimate, informed, chatty, & "as it was". It was all those things, I hope. Too much so for some, it seems.
I'm not sure how else it could be given that Rich & I had to talk non-stop on the stream for around 20 hours.
Another fair response but I am just getting the feeling that your tone of reply is indicating that you thought my intial post was 100% critism as I have just read another reply to another poster stating you had no moans or groans from any at DTD etc4) Rich is best placed to answer Q4, but he was flat to the boards & trying to spin numerous plates, & I thought he did so incredibly well. You cannot possibly realise how hard he works. Normally Blandy would be on hand, too, but he was unavailable due to family related health reasons.
Again, this seems to of put me in bad light but I fully understand how hard Tighty works and I have even offered my help in the past.PS - I may have been whooshed,
but I know mentioned this to you previously, but it is Rob
Yong, not Rob
Young, & like most folks, he prefers to see it spelt correctly.
I totally apologise for this spelling error and it was not intentional. My mistake, sorry but I honestly do not remember you pointing it out to me beforeI agree, it was a magnificent gesture by him to donate his prize monies to charity. Alex also donated some monies to charity, much respect to him, too.
I thought there was a great deal to be positive about throughout the whole event, to be honest, it was played in great spirit, Alex suggested the best Tourney he had ever played in (or "most enjoyable"), & I'm more inclined to view the pros than the cons. Just my mindset I guess.
The above seems to be a dig at me for me having the audacity to post my views in here. TBH, I really wish I hadn't bothered now as it seems you do not care for any feed back. For avoidance of doubt, I think Sky do a great job at all the SPT events, esp those at DTD.The world of Online is a peculiar place.
Yep, I best go back to my full time job of getting a ban from the Sky Poker Forum and leave you all to it on here.
