A week of cardio incoming. Got a massive kick in the hand on Saturday and have sprained a finger. Should have held onto the initial shot  Grin

Big numbers BangBang! Your dedication to the grind is very impressive.

Down week for me. Gave blood for the first time on Monday and my mates football team has an injury crisis so I'm roped in to play tomorrow. Have done some HIIT, running and plenty of stretching to try and prepare.

Agreed especially when the big stick has already been acknowledged to not be enough by the science chaps!

Yes but a bad flu year fully stretches the NHS

The issue is healthcare capacity. We have to suppress the spread of the virus to stop hospitals becoming full of COVID patients and leaving little room for anything else. There aren't enough doctors and nurses in this country to staff up the Nightingale hospitals either.

One of the disastrous long term effects of the first wave will be all the cancer appointments and routine stuff that stopped people being diagnosed in good time.

Thanks for all your input guys

I did 4x6 with the bar after warming up and it felt 'ok'. Was nice to activate and stretch but it's all so clicky and crunchy at the start and a front delt was going by the end as I fatigued rapidly. I will try machines for a while.

On bench I tried some 3 second descents and woah, that's another kettle of fish!

Note to self to up the yoga at weekends.

My shoulder mobility is terrible generally and it feels the least robust part of my body by a long way with past injuries. I have no confidence in putting meaningful weight on the bar and pressing it at this point in time. Risk/reward feels low.

Obv there's no direct replacement but I read in a couple of places on forums that is Wendler's offered alternative if none of the presses are a go'er. It doesn't really make sense to me though.

Training is going well. Running out of noob gains re putting weight on the bar but making substantial noob gains physique-wise by dieting well. Turns out eating relatively clean at maintenance is a lot better than eating under maintenance and topping up to breakeven with alcohol!

I'm thinking of starting 5/3/1 for beginners. My shoulders are in a woeful state and I don't fancy overhead press though. Internet says close-grip bench is an alternative so think I will try that and keep doing low weight shoulder accessories.

If someone is doing something actively dangerous like that I think you should definitely speak up. It almost certainly won't go down well but they'll thank you one day in the future.

If it's just normal stupid stuff, I would almost always let it be.

It's astonishing.

Traveling by train after taking a test because you're feeling a bit better is the sort of thing an ordinary dipshit might do, but travelling back after testing positive is world class dribbling idiot behaviour.

omfg this. How she hasn't resigned already takes my (uninformed) opinion of SNP MPs down a chunk.

Let them have their independence for all it matters if all they can muster is the same level of fuckwits in charge as England does

I am quite surprised Biden is as big as 1.65 on betfair.  I know a week is a long time in politics yada yada. but it feels less close than last time and last time Trump was a much bigger price.

I know your memory plays tricks on you, but I thought Trump was about 5/1 when I backed him, and the polls were closer?  I accept it may have been a timing thing, but I am sure I backed Trump when the pollls were quite close, and am pretty sure I didn't do so when they were as much as 7% apart (current poll of polls on the BBC).  I am not sure there is an easy way of checking this as I don't keep records of each bet in that much detail for betfair (where I assume I made the bet, though can't even be sure of that).

I got on at ~9/2 last time around after his polling didn't drift more than a tick after the grab them by the pussy comment emerged. I've just looked it up and that was 4 years ago early next week.

OTBE Biden looks like free money and I don't see him getting any bigger. I need to grow a pair and get stuck in or stop having an opinion and turn off the news because it's all so appalling.

Yeah I only plan on turning it on to get into the gym because it's mandatory and will be trying to angle out of it if not enforced.

If I'm meant to self-isolate because I've stood next to someone with it in Tesco I would like a guarantee first that Rishi will pay my wages for 2 weeks.

This is the problematic consequence of all the U-turns and bad comms. Everyone has an out now of following the rules whether they are correct or not in specific instances.

Everyone Active say that anyone attending needs to have the Test and Trace app installed and scan it when going into different rooms and that masks need to be worn in some areas. Not going to help trade and not sure that's the law but hey ho!
