Heard the Cuckoo yet Tom?

Trev!

I haven't l heard a cuckoo since you first asked me God knows how many years ago.

I think of you every time I don't hear one though.

We had a Cuckoo close by yesterday morning and again today

Need you to hear one, they must of been a regular during your younger days

I always used to hear the cuckoo Trev. It was a stand-out moment for me because my grandad had a superstition that you should turn the change over in your pocket when you heard the first one of the year, he did it religiously and as a little boy I would copy him.

Although I'm not supertitious, (Touch wood) I continued to do ot long after my grandad's passing.

Cracking quote, only trouble is very few folk have change in their pockets nowadays

I still like cash not cashless

I always try to use cash, I can't be doing with all that tracking software knowing where I've been or what I've bought. (My daughter has advised me to buy a tinfoil hat)

My other daughter asked me if I find the change in my pocket annoying, but I tell her that I was born pre-decimal. I remember when there were 12 big pennies in a shilling, now represented by the 5p, a coin so tiny you could lose one in your eye.

In my day, you could batter someone senseless with 1/6 worth of coppers in a sock.

Your mobile phone does that.

You're welcome.

So much better than Tony's diary btw.

So very sad. Saw them in 74 and 76. Got tickets for this year but was cancelled due to his ill health. RIP Steve, great talent.

Never heard this before (I know I know)

What a great song.

Vinny, Sebastian was Cockbey Rebels debut single from their album Human Menagerie released in 1973. Only came across this version about 5 years ago when Joo heard it on the radio around Christmas time. It's now played (several times) in our house at Christmas.

Saw elsewhere that this was the first time he recorded it with an orchestra since he originally done it.

How can it possibly make sense to spoil it like that?

If I could find out who was responsible for that decision I would definitely make every effort to contact them to ask for an explanation.

Surely this is a good thing?

I get to find out the ending in 5 minutes

Perhaps you're right. I'll try your theory out on a few cinema queues and report back.

Please remember to film it and post it here too Roll Eyes

Phil "Snatiramas" Cooklin?

Bought a property in Portugal.Currently doing it up.

How do you know these things?

Facebook Updates, it's actually been quite interesting I think. Bought some land and got it built rather than cheating and buying a ready made one. His partner updates regularly.

When a plane is coming in to land, why do you have to open the window blinds?

Always wondered that, never asked.

'The first reason is your safety. If anything happens during a take-off or landing, your eyes will already be used to the day or night light outside, thus you will be able to react more quickly.

Another reason for keeping the blinds open is visibility of aircraft outside. If any problems occur with the engine or wings, the crew can see it out of those tiny round windows in a cabin. If the aircraft needs to be evacuated, passengers and the whole crew is able to see which side of the aircraft is safer for evacuation.'

Bangkok. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It's Marmite City. You will love it, or you will hate it.

Why do people use the Marmite term then explain it?

Some people love to have it explained to them, others will hate it.
