I'm moving to the states for about 6 months to work for a US company. Does anyone have any tips about the best bank to go with and if you can do it before you go over? Any other advice on anything about working in the states would be hugely appreciated.

Where is news on current APAT tournament? Looked on site but cant find get any live updates?

Last night was in a live 30 person mtt 25£ buy in. Top 3 paid and I managed to make the top 3. Pay outs are roughly 450, 250, 150. 240,000 on the table, i have 30,000, super tight player has 60000, chip leader the rest and blinds are 3000/6000.

I start pushing all in in any unraised pots cause i'm happy to have cashed and within three or four rounds i'm on 70,000, tight players is down to about 30000 and chip leader the rest. Its got to the stage i think chip leader will call me with king high, the tight player wont call me unless he has a 99+, AT+. Then this hand comes up.

I'm on button with A8o. I auto push all in and get called by the chip leader who has 66. I lose the race and i'm out. I'm not unhappy with the push given my stack but a post about deals made me think about this. I'm a student and an extra £100 would certainly come in handy not essential but handy. Given that the tight player is on a short stack and possibly going to keep folding, was the push wrong? Once i overtook him in chips, by a sizable margin, shuold i have slowed down my game to try and take second or should i have kept pushing. Not in this situation a lot so all i was considering was blinds to stack ratio and positon. Any MTT players got thoughts on strategy on this situation i.e. once you've cashed and your starting to move up the pay levels?

If you are looking at the "more desirable" areas of Livingston then as a guide I would think you need to be looking at about 20% above the o/o figure to get into the ball park.

Have you thought about anywhere else around the Lothian area ? There is still a lot of newbuild  stuff going up in West Lothian, slightly removed from Livingston ?

Agree with both of this. Is there somethign thats pulling you towards livi in particular, relative, job, etc? If not, then should look at some other places in the surrounding area.

I would agree that 20% above is the norm for a nice area but because the market might have slowed down slightly and your buying in the off-peak months, there is maybe scope for offering between 10-20% depending on how many people are interesed, etc.

The s*n has nothing to do with being working class.  You can be working class and intelligent; or you can working class and a s*n reader.

Cool. To me it seemed obvious that once i made the initial call of 5500, i had to make the call of 4000 on top of that.

Villain 1 was in the dark, turned over 85 and hit two pair to take the main pot.

Villain 2 turned over AT. He believed that he thought it was possible that i would have called the blind all in with a wide range of hands. He didn't improve and i won the side pot.

The reason i ask about the hand is because me and villain 2 (supported by villain 1) got into an argument after that about the hand and whether or not my or his play was good/poor. So one more quick question is given that one player is all in dark, one played has looked at his cards and called, is there any reason at all, however small, to going all in and committing all your tournament chips with AT in that position when you know the original caller is almost definitely going to call you? Even if i had originally called with a marginal hand, AT cant be a big favourite against two all ins and the side pot wasnt worth enough to make it worth winning on its own.

Home game last night. 5 players left and I've just won a huge pot off the player 1 to my right when i hit an ace high flush v a set. This was the very next hand.

Blinds are 200/400. I have approximately 30,000. Total chips on table are 75,000.
Villain 1, 1 to my right is UTG. Before hand is dealt he says he is bored, wanting to go home to watch BB and goes all in dark for 5500. He feels he's not been playing well all night and not likely to win.

I look down and see TT.  Call, Raise or Fold?

I decided to flat call - the reason i didnt raise was simply because i expected it to go fold, fold, fold and for people to let me and villian 1 fight it out.

Villian 2, 1 to my left, goes all in almost immdiately. He stacks out the 5500, looks at the rest of his chips and says "you dont need a count, you have to call" - this was his exact words.  Both blinds fold and its back on me. Knowledge about player - can be quite erractic between tight and loose. Generally pre-flop play is relatively tight in these sort of situations - his post-flop play is where he loosens up going all in with a lot of draws. At this point i dont know his exact stack, i dont ask for an exact count but i guess looking at his chip stack he has about 3/4000  more. I have been playing super tight all night (whether or not he noticed this is another thing) but i'm known to be a bit loose at times. There is about 21000 in the pot and its 4000 max more to me - Call or Fold now?

I thought for a bit and then called. I put him on an overpair, more likely AA than KK, or QQ as he appeared to be inducing a call with his talk. I felt that with chips in middle, the max of 4000 extra made it +ev to call and i still had plenty of chips back to play with. Will post result later. Its not a bad beat story - I lost the main pot to villian 1 but won side pot to villian 2 - interested in your read on villian 2, his cards, and whether or not either of my plays are poor.

How does one avoid it reaching the stage where a ruling is required when P1 refuses to accept the opinion of the remainder of the table?

Can I ask, which part was P1 disagreeing with? The size of the bets on each round??

If thats the case, depending on the reputation of the dealer and yourself with the TD, i'm surprised he didnt just take the chips off of P1 and tell him to shut up.
