Pokerstars is not a site that is poker friendly anymore !

I am surprised more hasn't been made of this latest Stars greed fest  , it makes sense them sneaking it in whilst The WSOP is on

this is the thoughts from a well known grinder on the new scheme  .........

"After 20 k hands the rakeback is at 4 % .  And the ''funny'' thing is that the points needed to get the reward boxes grow, so I suppose that in the end you won't be able to get any rakeback because the ''personalised'' requirements needed to get any boxes will be unatainable . So it's harder and harder to get them. The last one was funny . After raking 25 dolars they gave me 7 stars coins. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA" followed by "personalised I guess means - we do whatever we like and nobody can verify us"

It's Independence Day here in the USA, which, it seems to me, is celebrated by 2 things - fireworks, & Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest.

Unsurprisingly, the Hot Dog Contest winner was Joey Chestnut, who has won 9 of the last 10 renewals.

He managed - in 10 minutes - 72 Hot Dogs, including the buns. That'll be 20,160 calories.

He came to the contest in great form, too, having just last month won the World Ice Cream Sandwich Eating Championship. He got through 25.25 Ice Cream Dessert Delights in 6 minutes, but it went to a tie-breaker which he duly won.

This, of course, is serious business, & is sanctioned by MLE - Major League Eating.

MLE run all sorts of Eating contests, look;

http://www.majorleagueeating.com/contests.php

The Hot Dog thing is broadcast live on ESPN, who boast that they syndicate the show to 72 countries. Presumably that excludes the likes of Bangladesh & large parts of Africa.

I am not making any of this stuff up. It's real.

If you have never watched a Hot dog Eating contest, look away now, it's the most obscene & disgusting thing you ever saw.

The whole thing is abhorrent, but then again, I cant help watching it.

Here's Joey in action today.

If you happen to bump into him, Jesse May is a connoisseur of this 'sport', knows a lot about it as a 'fan'.

Thanks Barry.

Why does that not surprise me?

I've not seen him here this year.

Prompted by your mention of Jesse May, I last saw him on March 12th, & I was mightily shocked to hear he now has a proper 9-5 Day Job.

I cannot think of too many folk I thought less likely to get a proper job. Who'd have thought?

I'm not sure of his exact role, but he works for Matchbook these days.

I wish him well, of course I do, but somehow it feels like a disappointment that such an adventurous roving spirit has come across to the dark side & got himself a proper job.

What next - Camel get a job with Ladbrokes, or Sky Bet?

Is there a big enough humble pie  ?

Hope you are healthy & crushing in Vegas Tony

Quite like Querry 33/1 for first quarter with baldy. First two matches vs weak opponents, then likely Tsonga, then maybe Stan. Big serve, seems to like grass, quarterfinalist last year.
https://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/wimbledon/mens/mens-wimbledon/player-to-win-1st-quarter

Murray looks big at 7/4 with bald.  That makes him a 6/4 shot at the semi final stage based on his current price.  He could limp into the 1/4 finals on one leg his draw is that easy.  Fed at 4/5 for his quarter with bald.  That makes him a 5/6 shot outright at the semi final stage when he could still have to face Muz and Djok!  Think Bald have dropped some maths clangers here.  loltraders in warrington going to lolcompile as usual.  Their pin isn't very sharp today.

4/1 double Fed and Muz make the Wimbledon semis!  Seems too good to be true!

Bald lols didn't take long to take action on their maths ricks!  Nice work lads.   Three minutes after the initial post.  Nice to see you are still tuning into TFT in Warrington lads.  Keep guessing for your wages and sharpen the pin.

Ive Said before Arb , they read here for sure...Bald Head Quarters  is in Warrington called "The Studio"...how did you know  ?

Many many years ago i went to their for an interview just after i left 365.  The little bald miser didn't even pay interview expenses after agreeing to prior to attending and even though he knew my salary expectations offered me less than half of what i was currently earning at the time.  Safe to say it always has been the same joke sweat shop outfit it still is now.  Most of the staff at have to wear the horrid betting shop uniform as well on the call centre/customer service.  Well they did back then.  You could smell the 'them and us' culture in the firm sent right from the top from the odious bald one. The seniors lols that interviewed me were clueless to say the least.  Some of the stuff they said, even in 2004, was mind bendingly bad for people in such senior positions of a major firm.  Without the FOBT's i doubt betfred would be anything like what they are nowadays brand wise.

I agree . very similar business model to Paddys

Try and place a decent bet on a visible market such as Premier League or a World Cup and they mess you about offering peanuts and the balance at whatever even if others firms are going the same price

Hard work for sure

Ive heard all about the Wonga style staff loans too , a senior guy borrowed house deposit money  at XXX rate

Murray limped through a practice session this morning, there is film online of it,wincing every time he extended himself

Fed is 36

Djok no form

Nadal not his surface

Warinka has 1 win over a top 20 player on grass, ever. Amazed when i read that

Which is why the likes of Raonic (wrong part of draw though) and Cilic at nice prices are getting attention

just very very open indeed, and the women's is more open still

I posted this Wednesday Rich   Smiley

Agreed , even more so in the mens

Thats whys Federer who is nearly 36 in has to be a lay at 5 - 2 with all the younger players snapping

https://www.betfair.com/exchange/plus/tennis/market/1.125549192

Quite like these two coupled ........  Cilic @ 24s and Raonic @ 22s

Interesting age stats..........

Wimbledon not a young mans game , Surprisingly Federer was the eldest to win in recent times at 30 but that was 6 years ago  Arthur Ashe oldest at 31 in "modern times "

Oldest recent Wimbledon winners

Rank    Player           Year   Tournament   Age

1  Arthur Ashe      1975   Wimbledon   31y 11m 25d
2   Roger Federer   2012   Wimbledon   30y 11m 0d
3   Rod Laver           1969   Wimbledon   30y 10m 26d
4   Rod Laver           1968   Wimbledon    29y 10m 27d
5   Jimmy Connors   1982   Wimbledon   29y 10m 12d
6   Goran Ivanisevic   2001   Wimbledon   29y 9m 26d
7   Pete Sampras   2000   Wimbledon   28y 10m 27d
8   Roger Federer   2009   Wimbledon   27y 10m 27d

I know advancements in science and nutrition etc mean longer fitness levels however Trends dictate its a big ask to win Wimbledon at 36

On one of my tables at the Nugget, there was quite a discussion on The Master.  There was quite a few tales of scummy things he has done and various places he has been banned from.

I did make the point if you are a prolific card counter you get pretty much banned everywhere straight away.  If you cheat at poker, you only get banned from the one casino/chain and dare say a few of theses bans are less than permanent.  Suspect the difference is who does the losing if there is a cheater in the game.  Obviously this discussion was unrelated to Men.

Moving on, and genuinely unrelated to the above.

Do you know Miami John? He has quite some poker history.  It was him I chopped with, and though I had heard of Miami John, I didn't know what he looked like.  It was probably a good thing I didn't know who he was.  Guess I should be honoured he wanted to chop with me.

Strange you mention these two together given they are top 2 on the all time tournie wins & cashes rankings  ... some grinding over the years between them ( Men 95 tourney wins )

" The Master "was at my table last year behaving like a brat   . In fact it was both him and Brandon Cantu which resulted in my immediate headphones on ultra loud

Well done on the $15 k Dave

People that use the word " Obviously " especially when answering a question , so condescending .

In fact the word should be deleted from The English language as it obviously has no positive use.

Cheers Rob, thank you for simplifying my long ramble.  Smiley

apologies didn't see the   " the team kicking first in a shootout has a 60% chance of winning "

So just lump on team going first every time  and if the first best loses use the Martingale system

Easy Game   Smiley

Remind me Fraser - what became of Martingale?
