Yo
Thanks Tommy. Interesting thread, here is the cold hard facts;
Of course we would love travelling players to wear DTD patches they cost £1.25 each, no fkn brainer! We already have a promotion in place for the Scalie Tour, I think we had 25 players in patches at the last GPS. In 6 years only a very very very few DTD players have offered to wear DTD merchandise/or do something for DTD for nothing in return, I can only name a few off the top of my head, the likes of Rastafish, Lil Dave, Ian Gascoigne, Martin Frey, Wadey, Chinese Frankie, Bookie Jim (sorry if I missed you, sure there is a couple more)
However, I have loads and loads and loads of requests from players that go like this "I am going to x, If I wear a DTD patch/merchandise will you a) pay my buy-in b) pay my hotel and travel c) stick me in events at DTD d) give me x). That's just the truth guys, however I do know and have many personal friends in poker that would do this for me, I asked players to wear patches at EPT's when we were promoting the CPP, Roberto, Sam, JP, Ben, Sly, all the guys did this, I find the top pros are pretty cool about it unless they are sponsored.
As a rule of thumb, the more "reggy/grinderish" players - the less the player will do favours for "nowt", I understand this thou - because these players are working hard to make a living from the game - so why do "owt for nowt". There are exceptions of course, but I would say 90% of reg's/grinders would not wear a DTD patch for free and - why should they? I am happy with the Scalie Tour promo, players wear our patch and get rewarded if they make the final or win it, seems a fair deal, win win for us both and targeted at recreational players.
Cheers Rob
Never been asked before but would happily wear a DTD badge on my travels playing poker and I play more live tourneys than most. I think most regs would happily wear a badge for you Rob and ask for nothing in return. Obviously there will always be one or two or try to squeeze every penny out of a situation like this but for me DTD is where I learned my trade and without it I would not be where I am today and enjoying my life like I am today, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this. Ofcourse if I made the FT of the main event and got offered $10billion to wear a stars patch I wouldn't be able to refuse. I would make sure I sneaked the DTD patch on there too though and if they wouldn't allow that I would just get a felt tip pen and write DTD in bold print on my forehead. :-)

Was just speaking to Alex about his post and I agree with pretty much all of it.
The only thing I don't agree with is the not changing tables or moving down stakes. I think this is fine when the game starts to get too big and you start playing out of your bankroll.
For example if you sit down to play a £1/£2 game with £500, even if your winning 4 or 5 buyins and are now sitting with £2.5k it doesn't mean your now rolled to play a 1/2/4/8/16 game which always happens late in the night when the regs are losing and trying to get out of it.
Some player feel pressured into staying because they're winning and don't want to hit and run, then they end up playing scared poker which suits the regs who want to make the game big to put the pressure on because they sense the weakness. By staying when the game gets like this you end up just dribbling away chips and not playing optimally, folding hands you want to play just because you don't want to have to 3bet to £100 instead of the £25 it would have been when the game started.
So in my oppinion whether you are a pro or a recreational player if the game starts playing too big where it becomes uncomfortable for you to play anymore then it is absolutely fine to move to a new game or even move down stakes if thats all there is to play. I don't think what Al said about going home is right, you have come to play poker. Why should you have to leave just because a few players are stuck and want to make the game huge just to get out of it. Don't give in to the peer pressure, leave the game.
If 'Mike' doesn't like it and wants to give you a hard time for leaving or moving to a new table then thats up to him but don't let other people affect you making good decisions for you own bankroll.

Driving in London is fine.
You coming down with stato tonight, Simon?
Na, i'm coming tomoro night, playing thursday. Old trafford tonight!! :-) Which day you playing?? Driving is fine - but flats 2 mins from station, no congestion charging and tbh it so much easier. Specially early days - last train is 1.40am from Euston, and first one is 5.40am Alternatively pay Vinny to be your chauffeur, that's what I do indirectly as it's the only return I ever get from staking him Confirmed Vinny will chauffeur for a nandos.......what you up to tonight V-man? Sounds like a plan! ;-)

Simon
Train Leeds to London is the only option, not worth the hastle of driving
Staying like 30 mins away tho so need the car...would get tube but its finishing too late. where are you staying? The drive in isn't so bad in the middle of a day. Only the last 3 miles or so are nasty coming in from the A1. Much less hastle than trying to get to kings cross to gamble on catching the train from hell in my experience. Watford.... think its 30 mins away anyway. don't really know tbh lol. I'm sure i'll be fine driving in :-/
