Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Irish Open question

The problem, as far as I am aware, with the Northern Ireland Open comp was that the hotel venue was newly opened and the organisers were not local to the area. The normal protocol is to inform the local police of the plans for the event. Apparently this was not done in this case. The Merrion Club, who run The Irish Open has a long track record of running this and EPT tournaments at hotel venues in Dublin, without any problems. The events are run as though the club has transferred its status to the hotel in question, hence no alcohol in the poker room and the need for all visitors to sign up as club members before they can enter or play. For this purpose please note that photo id is required. I can forsee no problems with the authorities as regards this event.

Hell of a story Dave. Not easy to keep focused on poker with all this crap going on in your life. Playing pro poker is hard enough without all this sort of distraction. I hope you can put it all behind you and get back to what you do best. Best wishes to you and Rowena for the future.

Dean Sanders is OUT in 18th, only just got a bit of the action coming back to report the previous exit, but he apparently got it all in with 7-8 on a T-9-6 board against Marc Karam's T-9, turn and river came running sixes to send the gutted gutshot player home. Ouch, that's going to hurt. Mark Karem has got to be one of the luckiest players in the EPT finals. Wasn't this the same guy who caught runner runner to eliminate Marcel Luske in last years EPT final in Monte Carlo, after he moved all in pre flop, on a bluff. If poker was purely a skill game Mick, Me and you would be busto mate long live luck !!! Speak for yourself Kev. I went bust long ago

You may recall I mentioned a certain New Zealand qualifier who had made the long journey. Well here he is, James Honeybone's his name and poker's his game. Currently on 9,350 after being re-raised off a hand pre-flop.
Hi Snoops, Maybe you could say hello to big Jimmy for me, if you get a chance. Played with him at the final table of the Ongame Classic in Barcelona in December. You should get him to teach you how to play Bouncers Poker.

The casinos can do whatever. All we poker players want is somewhere local to play without being hassled by the police. Unfortunately, in this backward province, this doesn't seem possible at the minute. Ah well, back to the internet. Also back to Walsall next week. Maybe me and Flushy can have a re-match!
