Good luck,
I'm in the same boat as you with no dependants and youth on my side, decided to quit work 6 months ago and take the plunge.

I ain't making any money live yet though the internet keeps me in buisness.

Stay within your bankroll, keep your volume of play up and you'll be grand.

I like to not turn up the venue too early.
I found hanging around for ages beforehand only serves to build any tension I may be experiencing.

Use the breaks to go outside and get fresh air, there is no substitute for it especially as major tournaments usually have a lot of people in a room, it can get quite stuffy.

If you can't be well rested before it starts, at least make sure you are well fed. I experienced what can happen when you're not.

I had a mild panic attack earlier this year near the end of the £100 rebuy at the gutshot. I'd just doubled up twice in a row and my hands were shaking so much I couldn't stack my chips. Someone asked me if I was ok and I opened my mouth but no words came out. Left the table had some water, got some air, and allowed myself to get blinded off for 20 minutes till I re-gained control of myself. During this time, I was talking to some cockney dealer who offered me some helpful advice. It sounded bloody obvious but it helped me get myself together and salvage a 7th place finish.

"Just play your cards, don't worry what happens. All you can do is play your cards."

I told him that the next day, before the main event, I wouldn't come in and play online poker during the day, as I had done for the rest of the week. Instead I'd maybe relax by taking a walk round London, doing the whole touristy thing. He had a pearl of wisdom there too.

"Sod that mate, just stay in bed!"

The day you catch me in Russia, playing poker, is the day hell freezes over.

Technically, I'm a sheep shagger. So any retaliatory Aberdeen jokes are welcome.

While on the topic..

I'm certainly not among the passing crew, or the stop and go-ers.
I'm re-raising all-in 99% of the time.

With a decent blind structure I think doing 3 different rounds would be a bit much for a live tournament, it would take too long.
If it must be 6 handed I'd just have the winner progress to the final table.
