Another crappy day. I popped into bookies earlier to put a footie bet on for the weekend and couldn't do anything on horses.

I had a bet on the 8/11 fav in the 4.40 (I think) and it came last.

Lost about £500 today, another reason to quit gambling!!!!

Lets put the vote in perspective. . . . . . .

If it was just a straight forward question of deal or no deal, its clear that the overwhelming winner would be "deal" but because the question as been diluted down due to 5 options being available, its not that clear cut.

It's not an overwhelming winner at all.

I've just been reading the schedule for season 3 of the UKIPT and came across the fact they are taking 3% of prizepool as costs for floor staff is this even acceptable?

Link: http://www.ukipt.com/tournaments/

£700+£70 for all events and then 3% took out of PP, is this even fair?

What is even the point of rake, if £70 isn't already enough.

Quick simple maths:

300 runners in a touney = PP of £210,000, then you take away £6,300 for the extra costs! Not to mention that they have already took £21,000 in rake.

Am I the only one thinking WTF?
3604  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DEAL OR NO DEAL on: February 10, 2012, 02:02:00 AM
Tony, the problem is that you can never leave a decent amount for the winner. Deals are usually co-ordinated by chopping up regarding stacks and what's left in the PP, so you can hardly leave much aside for the eventual winner really. If someone agrees to take £50k on a deal, then it's really silly to be leaving 2-3k for the winner tbh.

As for talk to TD before final table to tell if you want a deal or not is pretty silly imo. People's opinions on dealing will change throughout the FT regarding chipstack and remains of PP. An example being at the start of FT the CL may not want a deal for obvious reason, but then with 5 left he is no longer CL and perhaps will want a deal.

The only way I think to stop anomosity is to give each other cards when a deal has been 'set' and if you want to deal chuck a black card in, if not throw the red one in, all face down of course, so you don't know has agreed and who hasn't.

I just want to add to this, because I have sometimes been one to decline deals and I am only 21 years old. I decline them for very good reason, but because I am 21, I can often be patronised or bullied into dealing and so on. I play the 20r and 50r in Sheffield and can sometimes be hot and miss towards a deal or not.

Might be something to add onto this discussion that there are perhaps people voting on this poll that have perhaps never been to DTD or played the deepstacks, so even though this poll might seem reasonable enough, we still might not be getting a reasonable and realistic reply.

Also, like people have said there can always be anomosity when one person doesn't agree to the deal, so I would really like to see a way in which a person can decline the deal in privacy, because the whole game and people's attitude can change when one person is know to have declined the deal.

Question:

This poll has been added, so are DTD thinking of going back on what they have already said?

FACT:

People will still come to DTD next month whether or not deal making is going to be allowed.

Opinion:

Deals should NOT be allowed unless the FT turns into a shitstab.

WTF is a "shitstab"?

lol, sorry.

pretty much no play at FT.

SHEFFIELD WORDING (or perhaps my own) lol.

It's an intresting one and a question that can never be answered.

You have to remember that a lot of people who play in certain cities are actually from different cities.

I am from Sheffield and a lot come from around Yorkshire to play the £50r and £20r every week, so you don't even know if the players that you personally rate are actually from Sheffield. There are a few players that I rate around Sheffield, but I firmly believe they are a lot better poker players from elsewhere.
3609  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DTD's new policy on deals on: February 07, 2012, 10:37:48 PM
How would someone not wanting to deal have anything to do with Karma, what have they done wrong ?
I have made nearly 200 live finals and the amount of times someone refuses a deal then is soon knocked out is unreal. The only people it does not se to happen to are Lawrence Gosney and Alli Mallu. I played some shocking school night comps on Yorkshire where they woul usually chop the final ten ways. One night in Sheffield 88 runners paid ten and with 17 runners left Keith Littlewood wants to chop £11k up Ffs. (and this man was leading the wsop after day 1 one year)

Gosh, I remember that night, I was one of the final table and at that point I didn't know Keith that well and wasn't sure if he was serious or not, but he genuinely was.

i said on the Facebook page that it's good that there is a no deals policy, because surely as gamblers/poker players, you have to have some ambition and want some limelight, not to take a deal? You only live once!

I am not fussed on deals, I never make them, just listen in and if I think it's an OK deal, then that's fine. The only thing about deals is that sometimes you can make enemies by declining them and it's annoying really. Not also to mention there are lots of people who will not deal with certain people because they simply do not like them (I am one of those).
3610  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Super Size DTD Deepstack in March: £250,000 guaranteed on: February 07, 2012, 10:30:57 PM
It sounds really good and mega exciting.

There are many people out there who question whether or not it will make a guarantee, but I am pretty certain it will do.

there seems to be lots of issues with this though, especially the deal making thing, should people have the right to deal if they FT? Who knows. In a way they should, but sometimes there are players out there who will think/know they have no chance of 1st, so will be chasing a deal/laddering rather than imaing for top 3 etc. Knowing that a deal at the FT will be worth £15k min.

Hopefully I shall be in attendance, but I really do want to sateilite in (goes without saying really), as I hate departing with £560 out of back pocket!

I'm not listening to the commentary, as I am just catching up with it all from today, but it was poor when i was watching and listening to the FT of the MC last month.
