Around the NFL (light-hearted and NFL owned, but four sports writers with experience and who "get" the fan side of the game)

Stick to Football (mixture of college and NFL analysis. Main guy, Matt Miller, is a fantastic draft scout)

Rotoworld Football Podcast (good reviews of news, with some tidbits of analysis)

MMQB (Tends to be deeper stuff about the stories. Well connected people)

Move the Sticks (another NFL owned podcast, so corporate line very much toed, but you get great insight into the inner-workings of teams)

The Lefkoe Show (Bleacher Report's top interviewer. Has a very pro-player style, which means he gets good interviews, often with minor or relatively low profile players)

Phil Simms Unbuttoned (former broadcast partner of Adam Lefkoe. Now has a gig with CBS, so is doing a podcast for them and PFF. Former QB so has great insight into what life is like as a - in his case - jobbing pro)

Inside the Huddle (Sky Sports podcast with Neil and Jeff. It's lower level than those above, but all opinions welcome!)

NFL Show (same as above, really, with Nat Coombs and "Iron" Mike Carlson)

The Late Round Podcast (JJ Zacharison, chief writer at NumberFire and FanDuel, does short, analytics-based podcasts with fantasy at its core).

Those are my regulars. I will add various teams' "Locked On" podcasts if researching that team.

Is there an argument for backing him to win at 4-1 Tal? Geraint makes him favourite...

...

I don't know enough to have a view on that price. Would think Team Ineos expect to do enough up and down the mountains to get one of their guys over the line, but can't tell you whether 4/1 is value.

Maybe it was, he is 11/10 now.   Think you should still be proud, not often you get a bet that loses because it is too good.  There might still be hope of a place?  He could get a few high points finishes in the mountains fighting for yellow.

This was the main premise of the bet, so, yes, still live. He's up to 9th in the standings now.

Trouble is he will be sitting in the peleton a lot, rather than chasing points. Stage wins do get points, though, and mountain stages mean sprinters aren't usually involved at the business end.

Tomorrow is very tough. Then there's a flat stage for the sprinters. Think it's a rest day after that. The horrible stuff comes next week.

Today's stage was brutal, so will be interesting to see how many of the sprinters cope over the coming week.

Is our man in the T de France spoiling our bet by riding too well?

In a word, yes.

He won't be competing for points in the stages while he's wearing the yellow jersey and chasing the main title.

He is 10th in the Sprinters ranking, but quite a way behind. There's a lot of Tour left and most of it is up and down mountains, but the start he's had (and the lack of dominance by Thomas or Bernal) is bothersome.

We have had mostly fairly flat stages so far (relatively speaking). It starts to gets hard from here.

Today's stage will be interesting: a tough mountain (category 1) in the middle and a 1,600m climb up a bigger mountain (HC - the hardest category), where the finish is uphill.  Should be the yellow jersey contenders competing for this, unless someone manages to break away.

That sounds like something Milton Jones would say and it's reminded me of one of his:

Tricky, isn't it, if you're both a moth and a sea captain in charge of a ship, but up ahead, you see a lighthouse

lol!

Smiley

Was way too subtle for Red Dog.

It truly was, I'm completely whooshed. I'll have to wait for Mr L to explain it to me.

You too?

Thing is, if Stokes knew we needed 3 off the last ball, he'd have swung properly and clubbed it away for four.

Sorry, when I said fluked six I meant the 4 overthrows off the bat. The odds of that happening? I read today that because they hadn’t crossed for the second run, only 5 should have been awarded. More luck going england’s way  thumbs up

But they had crossed - Stokes was on the second run and diving for the crease when the ball hit his bat.

It's when the ball was thrown that counts (19.8 of the MCC rulebook, apparently).

How is that cycling chap doing? Have seen him mentioned a few times but suspect for the wrong thing...

Kind of doing too well at the moment...

He's leading the Tour, currently, which has meant he's not been collecting points for the intermediate stuff in the stages.

On the plus side, he's cycling very well.

We will know a lot more when they're in the mountains, which is what the bet was really about.

Also need to see if there are any/many notable drop outs, when the going gets tough.

Go to the loo, put the position into a computer and let it calculate the best moves for you...

...would be one way

125% overround isn't exactly generous

Just be mindful of the juice, Cavey.

Def want the price in the cells if you can, as getting Evs on each side is great and 5/6 each side is unlikely to be profitable

Great work though to compile this. Thanks.

My copy of Sharp's Football Analysis arrived yesterday. Luvvly jubbly.

Is it time yet?
