15,550/F is my line here.

Can't see how he can come over the top on flop without it.

he never has better so its a freeroll jam was my original thoughts.

yeh agree with this, pretty difficult to put you on a missed draw so do whatever size bet on riv that you think will level him. Not sure whether thats gona be 1/5 of pot all the way up to shove
21  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: River Spot in $5 1r1a on: July 20, 2012, 07:47:17 PM
I should add "i'm never jamming river regardless, agaiinst this sort of opponent"
22  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: River Spot in $5 1r1a on: July 20, 2012, 07:45:24 PM
I don't think i'm jamming riv regardless of my hand because board is so dry. If u get snapped for roughly pot size bet then they have KQ+ imo, that is a distinct possiblility in this situation for oppo, so i think if we were to have another pop it would only need to be a 1/3ish bet. The equilibrium where overbetting gets rid of hands that beat us and gets calls from hands that don't beat us is very limited, thats why i think this is a tricky river spot. Likewise if i have KQ+ im probs just value betting to pick stray calls of weaker kings + underpairs. Dont think weaker K than KQ calls shove especially for most of their stack when we are up with the CL.

Villain was fairly nitty until he recieved a gifted treble up and has loosened up a lot since. My bets are usually <1/2 pot, but decided here on turn to rep real strength as opposed to a standard dodgy c-bet (as he comes across as a thinker)

Do we give up now or do we bet riv? If so what size? If we bet are we genuinly showing a hand?

Thoughts appreciated

I think its very thin between 3b turn to 12 and flat with intention of getting it in on blank riv.

Think i probs flat turn and get it in on blank riv.

Is oppo a fish? Makes quite a diff

Just gone out 300th ish of the $5. Spent the whole tournament having a railway sleeper being pushed in and out of my arse then managed to find AQ < QQ button v bb for double avg stack.

Deck been so cold in 2012 :-(
28  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Ante Up Tourneys on: July 17, 2012, 11:41:55 PM
Anybody got any strategy pointers for these tournaments?

Appreciate its very stake dependant.

A question:

Say its ante of 500, (4500 in pot). What would be a standard open here? Tried most things between 500-pot with little success.

Assume its fine to limp every other hand we dont open with? Shocked at some players folding for 5 into a 5k pot. Surely players these days can't be that stupid?

Make it up as you go along.  It really depends on the table.  The rules can change too, the stars one is different to the WSOP one.

You get some really weird things happening , if someone raises to 1000 in the 4500 pot, and you reraise to 2000, it can get folds that make no sense if the original raiser thought about it.  Some tables are very limpy, others aren't.  I guess nobody offers training.  Post flop is fairly standard though you obviosuly need to think about ranges more.

The limp every pot thing falls over if you are bad at folding post or the fella on your left raises every pot.

Limp reraises happen way more often than in normal hold em strategies, and seem effective.

I have played barely any, but won one on stars and have a 100% cash record in the WSOP version.  I expect people who can think about the concepts must have a much bigger edge than in normal nl tournaments where even the fish get most of the theory.

Sound advice Mr Barraclough. Cheers :-) wd in Vegas

On a side note. I'm glad everyone thinks that the staker shouldn't take the hit of the dealer tip. Few months ago i binked DTD, Keys ofc had half and i took tip from his cut.
