i dont like block betting here as ax hands that hit a pair on flop will shove on me too often and its not like i will get a call from anything i beat

You can pretty much assess the hand by betting turn. There is a 2% chance somebody will value shove an ace on the river in an $11 comp. Block bet gets you some value off your perceived opponents range of 88-JJ and stops any tricky decisions should you check and they bet big (FWIW i c/f to a bet here on the river 100000% of the time).
Good rule to have in low stake comps with overpairs is just bet bet bet until shown resistance. Think somebody said it recently, they just have it too much if they are raising turns when u have an overpair.
