i dont think there are more bluffs i just think he doesnt lead out with some of that range on the flop. feel like its closer to 50% bluffs with missed draws vs flopped monsters, but yeah i guess the two change things a little with 68 now v unlikely. wouldnt put 58o in tbh. feel 66/99 unlikely as played too.

sorry i butchered the HH a little - hero is seat 5 and the bigstack so we are left as shortstack if wrong.

villain is solid + winning aggro reg coldbryan.  think he only donks out with something good. prob 2 pair, set or good draw only. suspect on river he both bluffs and value bets big but no notes recorded to confirm Sad

this is 2 or 3 from the money of $551R1A. 18 paid + there are several v short stacks on other tables as well
$280 mincash ish, $3k+ UT

thoughts? think the call is prob right enough of the time to make it correct despite bubble etc?

US drama is the best entertainment out there ATM, better than the movies.

I did enjoy Luther for my Brit shows though.

def agree for drama, america wins at the moment. still prefer the oddball comedies that come from britain like spaced, League of gents, green wing etc to american polished sitcoms that just try to please everyone. i expect there are some good off kilter US comedies shows out there, it's just i'm not aware of them. that said the league and its always sunny in philadelphia have both occupied a few days of my time recently...

i think fold equity is being underrated here. the number of times i'll shove in this sort of spot and someone will fold ace rag face up is surprising.

594  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Just inside bubble...call? on: January 10, 2014, 01:56:59 PM
we have 12bb here so its an easy call.
out of interest how many bigs are people's limits for calling here vs an unknown? people will still shove in these blind on blind spots up to 20-25 effective bigs sometimes and those decisions are obviously tougher.

599  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Thoughts on checking turn with trips on: January 07, 2014, 01:53:25 PM
think you will find that most attempts to isolate here preflop (at 20/40 with a 5k stack) will fail. what are you raising to? 120-160?  you will just get called and inflate the pot. its obviously never bad cos you gain betting lead but being so deep i think that is a little less important. prefer to limp and simply play in position cautiously unless you smash the flop/later streets - as you do on the turn where you gotta bet imo

In tonight's Sherlock, Mr Holmes says the line "Why this particular Grenadier?"

The guardsman he is discussing is clearly a Welsh Guardsmen (5 button blocks and a white and green plume in the bearskin)

Surely they can't have made such a basic error?

however, when he says this he has at this point only read an email, not seen or met the guardsman (as the viewers have).... so grenadier is probably a reasonable default assumption, no?
