Does the '2nd seat' expenses exchange apply to seats that or won Live or online only ?
3  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Vegas Trip Information for anyone looking to go this year. on: July 28, 2015, 11:17:01 AM
So I've been stewing on whether to write this post or not for a while now. I've conceded its probably better to put it on this thread rather than start a new one. Anyway ...me and my best pal are heading to Vegas on the 28th September. Primary objective is to play a good solid cash session everyday as well as cramming as much general Vegas as i can possibly take...

A bit about me - I'm a total whale online unless im playing DTD Sats. I'm too much of a gambler to enjoy grinding Micro stakes and not good enough not to get eaten alive by regulars when playing at a reasonable level. Besides if i want to lose £250 i'll jump on the ring road to dusk and donk it off there instead. In summary i'm a recreational player who has cashed in the odd Deepstack and gone deep in a Grand Prix here and there. I would also estimate I am small winner in the £1/£1 at dusk. Given this, i am 100% confident I can crush the low stakes games in Vegas. (Shoot me downs incoming ....) So my questions ...

(1) Money ... Including gambling ammo im on target to have somewhere around $800 a day Huh? I'm hoping to stick to this budget at least for the first half of the trip. Winnings go back in the safe etc.. If we lose the lot, we sleep for a while. I arrive on a Monday so i plan to play solid Monday - Friday then go ballistic at the weekend with whatever i have left over. I will have $5000 split accross two FairFx cards and the rest in cash

(1) Is the $1/$2 as easy as people make out ? I can imagine it being quite dull for a solid player. Play the top of your range... Bet the pants of your hand for value and fold to resistance without the nuts right ?? Stay to playing ABC poker and hope not to be swallowed by rake. Use poker Atlas to hunt out the deeper games where you can sit with >100BB right ? Will also take shots at $2/$5 if i feel the games is good. Will also sit and punt a BI at $5/$10 if I'm not a broken man come the end of my trip ? Any advice for the softest games at the minute ? Also advice on which casino's do the best free drinks for poker players afterall i'm on holiday

(2) The infamous $20 dollar trick. Does it actually work ? Most information I've found to date seems rather dated. Seems to have been posted by Locals in town for a couple of nights ? As an oversees player staying for 1 week how much does the tip have to be ? What can i expect ? I'm in the Luxor and I've been lead to believe this place is more receptive to it than a lot of others ?

(3) Pool Party's ... Where and when ?? Most of the advertising i've seen seems to be for the travelling student type on a shoestring budget. I WANT TO GO NUTS

Overall i'm almost a bit concerned i am going to run out of time. I'm a single punter in my Mid 20's, the kind of person Vegas was built to destroy. Can anyone offer me any top tips to make sure i have a sickkk time ?

Which restaurants do i need to eat in ?
Which strip clubs are the best ?
What are the absolute must do's ?

Thanks in advance for any input.

One thing I can't understand is why re entries don't count when working out places paid.  Doesn't really bother me I'm just curious.  ie.  A comp paying 10% of the field gets 150 unique entries, and 50 re entries, most places pay out 15 places here, not 20.  Imo there has been 200 starting stacks in play so 20 should be paid.  Most of the money paid out at the lower end of the scale recirculates around anyway so surely this would create more people 'winning' and playing more often, increasing prize pools and trade for the operators.

This ... Average stack was nearly 15 x starting stack at the Grand Prix's bubble

Really hope people turn out this weekend and the overlay figure is as small as possible.

However because of the predicted shortfall of runners does this naturally mean that Sundays day 2 will be a much larger field than Saturdays ? Are there are solid predictions on how many players are anticipated to make day 3 ? Will this have an impact on the distribution of the $550 deep stack seats ? I reckon it could be less than 100 players making day 3 from 2a ?
6  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Interesting Day 1 GP Spot on: May 18, 2015, 02:23:04 PM
Looks like my fold was a clear mistake then. I really thought this was much, much closer.

I took a while for me to fold, well over a minute. Is it obvious that the longer i take the weaker my hand looks which in turn increases the likelihood of V1 getting involved ?

As it turned out the hands were

V1
V2

Board runs out 10 high with 4 CLUBS ON IT !!!!!!

We pick up one or 2 more pots and make day 2 with over 600k
7  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Interesting Day 1 GP Spot on: May 18, 2015, 01:05:18 PM
I'm surprised this isn't considered to be a closer decision.

How wide is our re-jam range then ? AK off is surely as wide as we would ever go ....

8  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Interesting Day 1 GP Spot on: May 18, 2015, 11:30:22 AM
1st Hand ever posted so go easy on me. The days been very straightforward until .....

Level 17... We've just joined the table and are yet to put a chip in the pot and we have no information about other players.

We join the cut off (Seat 1)

We have 550k and cover all

Blinds are 5k/10k Ante 1k

Seat 5 400k ish opens to 25k
Seat 7 Insta Jams for 240k

We look down and see the  squeeeeeze hard and find the  behind it.

What do we do ?

1) Wager all of our betting discs and and hope for a race for a 1.2 million stack for day 2 ?
    - seat 5 folds and we are punting half our stack ?
    - seat 5 calls and its  a biggie we are left with a bowl if we lose ?

2) Fold ?

I dont think either are bad im just interested in others views
3) Call, not even an option

Other things to consider.

Golden chip is in play. We have a further 2 seats to play with in the next week.

Thanks

In game it felt like seat 3 was raising for value!  As played the only hands he is doing this with IMO are AK and KK, what conceivable spade combo can he have ? The SB snap folded which hurt. I think at these stakes folding is good as it feels to marginal to call when there a much more +EV spots available
11  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / 3 way pot horrible river spot on: May 23, 2013, 08:24:29 PM
First post take it easy please. Thoughts on all 3 streets. One of those pots that i feel i failed to win. I think the turn is bad (but any bet screams strength only getting action from AQ + ?) Plan was to raise river before the action unfolded before me. What do they have please ? Is this a trivial fold ?

13  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poker Software? on: December 12, 2012, 02:05:36 PM
After spending nearly an hour studying the stats its very clear that I lose far to many pots protecting the SB and the BB!!

Game needs some serious looking at!!

GENERAL PREFLOP Hold em 6 max

VERY High VPIP:345 / 880 for 39.2%(avg 21.1%)

Normal PFR:149 / 880 for 16.9%(avg 16.1%)

VERY High 3Bet:32 / 284 for 11.3%(avg 6.3%)

High Squeeze:4 / 53 for 7.5%(avg 2.8%)

This software is very interesting!!
IMO You lose too many pots in these positions purely because you are playing too many pots in these positions! Granted 880 is a really small sample but a VPIP of >35% is a bit on the fishy side! However as 2/6 hands are in the blinds its natural for this Stat to be higher than a full ring player. (pretty sure HEM2 has a feature where you can get the figures to automatically adjust between 6max and full ring.)

Its such a common leak for players to lose excessive pots from the blinds so I wouldn't worry about it too much! Just try and make a conscious effort to narrow your range in the blinds and play the spots more aggresively and you'll be VPIP < 30% by the time you have played another 1000 hands.

Can not possibly emphasise how much HEM can develop your game though, just try not be results orientated until you have a proper sample!
