No one has questioned his playing ability & rightly so.
Roy Keane was quite clearly ONE of Manchester United's great players of the last 20 years.
Ask majority of united fans who there No1 is / was & it certainly is not him.
Thought Ants views were perfectly put.

His character is what is in question & I will always remember the bad due to the fact I am a Leeds fan.
He was never the same after the injury & IMO I would have Paul Scholes in my team 7 days a week &
Twice on Sundays before Keane.

I've read most of the United players Autobiographies, pretty much everyone of them has said Paul scholes was there No1 united teammate.

I am presuming they would know best.

Also Patrick Viera couldn't lace Keano's boots.

who would win in a fight keith?0

I truly hated him when he played, now I doubt there is anyone in football I respect more.

Bold statement. Why do you respect him most highly in Football, or think you do? There are a lot of questionable things he did. Leaving Ireland at the start of a world cup finals in 2002, when they had a team with a legitimate chance of getting through to the quarters, because he didn't like a shoddy FAI setup? Could you imagine an English player doing the same and anyone thinking he could hold any ounce of respect after? Let alone offering a job on the national team some 11 years later?

I mean come on seriously. The man has a huge sense of inflated ego, carries on as if he is the authority on most things he says which can often come across as really arrogant, even if he is right.

He deliberately went out to hurt Haaland just because he gave him gyp when Keane injured HIMSELF in trying to trip Haaland in a previous match. Haaland didn't cover himself in glory by running over to him and slagging him off as he laid helpless on the floor, in the first incident at Elland Road but he was not to know the extent of Keane's injury and all he knew at the time was that he was clipped by a naughty off the ball challenge by Keane, justifying Haaland to be angry at the time.

Only because of the seriousness of the injury can you feel sorry for Keane. So for me Haaland has done nothing wrong here, but despite years since the incident and knowing all of the factors Keane still showed the immaturity to absolutely crunch him, running the higher risk of ending Haaland's career when he had the chance and he succeeded. Haaland was not worthy of that at all.

That sort of immaturity too, plagued him throughout his career, how many red cards did he get from acting the fool and not properly being able to deal with the intensity of a match. Granted it was his own personal intensity, when tamed, that made him such a force, but his immaturity shone through on many an occasion and still does today.

I borderline detest the man. And I am generally very placid. The fact he is a part of the Ireland setup now makes me feel a little sick tbh. How spineless are the FAI to let him in?

You only have to look at Vieira's reaction to the question of could you understand what was going through Keane's head when he decided to leave the world cup, he struggled for a while and responded no, after mentioning how proud he was to be a French player.

Yes he was a great leader of men on the pitch, an excellent player, but for not playing for Ireland in the World Cup, I think that is enough to lose nearly all respect for the man, especially over such pitiful reasons.  Yes he can get some of it back, but to rate him as one of the people you most respect in football, I am definitely baffled.

Hopefully that hasn't come across as OTT, I am not angry or anything, lol, I just thought i would state the case, and wonder how you can maintain your view despite him being capable of leaving his country at a World Cup finals.

THIS

Roy Keane was a fantastic player for United
Roy Keane was a complete arsehole.

Ok, so I have been working on the website for the last week or so, writing some content, polishing a couple of things and changing a few layout things. I am creatively terrible, so its not easy. I found a name I liked and went with it, hopefully it will grow on people but I dont want it to be the reason people click or dont click on the site.

http://wugwug.com/

In the site you have my Blog where I will be updating every few weeks.

http://wugwug.com/category/blog/

And then I will be doing free content, interviews with players and podcasts.

There is absolutely no way for me to monetery gain right now from the site. I explain all my reasons in the blog and thus linking here should be fine, let me know if otherwise true mods but people link to their blogs all the time on signatures etc.

The content will be what I will hope is "easy read" content that is actually very viable. In poker I often see the following two things

1- Content that is so advanced and is only appreciated by very few people
2- Content that is just so simple that its boring

I want to be somewhere in the middle there where I dont write about GTO or super complex math problems but I write lots of articles about delicate parts of the game that I feel people struggle with. I will be making free videos for all stakes and will really be trying to make it very active.

As well as the strategy content I want to introduce cool people to you. There are SO many characters playing poker that you would never know or ever associate to play poker. I will try to interview as many of these guys as possible. The In The Tank is empty right now, but just done an interview with "Coopah" and should be a pretty fun read.

Ill of course still be a very active member of this community and keep posting all throughout the forum as well as in this thread. Lots and lots of love here

Really good Site.
Enjoyed the podcasts.

Hey domalson

Understand exactly where you are coming from. I do thi k it was more me posting 3-4 times and then having to repeat what I said as different people disagreed rather than a constant barrage of abuse from me.

I felt that he showed a little bit of a lack of class in his preparation, followed up by his comments to the rail "I just don't care anymore" and then his twitter abuse, I think he would have been a very unpopular winner.

I went into this hoping he'd win. One of my closest friends is his best friend so was pumped for him. He'd even been coaching him a little bit!!!

Anyway apologies if I came across badly, it was my cup final, I'd stayed p till 8am and was just abit too passionate about it all.

My apologies again and I hope it doesn't stop you from wanted to read future threads here.

Have a good evening.

Thanks.
Pretty sure there is no need for the apologies,
But Accepted anyways.
It was only an opinion.
Have a good evening too.

Some of the posts in this thread and on 2p2 by supposed 'heros' and big winners actually disgust me.

You've got a guy who has paid $10k, and got to where he is probably largely by luck.

He doesn't deserve to be torn apart by every pro and spotty 22 year old who crush the game.

If Havant and Waterlooville had made it past the 6th round a few years back against Liverpool and ended up playing Man Utd in the quarters, would you expect every top pundit and top player to be tweeting and commentating on how shit they were playing? 'OMG, how did he miss that from 20 yards out, ROFL how did he not manage to hit that man from 40 yards away'.

You need to grow up, have some respect and let recreational players play however the fuck they want. It doesn't matter one bit
how much effort and preparation you perceive them to have or have not put in. What if they were just happy with the $1mill they made and saw anything else as a bonus?

Absolutely This.

I respect what everyone thinks and their right to think it, but making a pretty arrogant, kinda rude post calling someone arrogant is kinda silly imo

As usual Dave you are quite correct.
BUT
The comment wasn't meant to be rude, just an opinion after spending a hour reading the whole thread.
Found the comments made by Plano pretty pathetic and annoying imo.
I see no valid reason for anyone to spend such a long time berating players for there play ever.
Given that it was the wsop final table & playing for insane amounts of cash that is my opinion on the comments.
I think a bit of time away from poker may do him the world of good. Real life ftw.
Sorry if you felt I was being harsh on him.
Wouldn't do for us all to be the same.

You are a pro poker player as such i feel you should show other pros respect. In the same way that Messi wouldn't go on twitter and say "lol how bad was that by Rooney" if Rooney made a mistake in the WC Final. You of course can have your feelings and express them privately by all means but going after fellow pros who are playing in an exceptionally unique situation is not on imo.

I agree with this too, and if I was a double bracelet winner like yourself or a big pro with lots of exposure I definitely wouldnt go about it on twitter saying lots of stuff.

Im just a

you $1-$2 wizard

posting on my local forum where only people who read are people i know virtually or in real life.

If Messi came to a world cup final and tried really hard but missed a penalty he probably wouldnt be deemed poorly by his fellow professionals, if it was the biggest game in his life and he turned up fat, hungover or like he just didnt care Im sure others would be disgusted.

I guess I am the Joey Barton of poker. Decent championship player who says it as he sees it.

Whilst Joey Barton might be a good player, he is a prick. He is largely disliked by both his peers and football fans. It's entertaining to watch his antics, but he comes across terribly. Please don't tell me you really view yourself that way.

I think a bunch of your posts all over the forum come off badly. Don't wanna start a war here but I'm not the only one who thinks so. Can chat about it on skype if you like but would be good to see you post in a slightly different way sometimes because theres a lot of great stuff in what you write.

I think that he comes across as a prick in probably 1% of his tweets, he just tweets a lot and is very honest so a tiny minority of the time he will look bad and this is what people remember. A lot of his content is really really good.

I agree with you too because im the same as him, i post in the rail, blogs, updates, staking, pha, lounge and sports! Im very opiniated, tell it exactly as I see it and dont think sometimes before posting, I apologised to red dog in my thread where I thought I was ool to him but just went back over this thread and think it is all standard. Im passionate about something, I post a lot and if ive posted 15000 times and 50 times have seemed like a prick then its such a small minority but ofc people will always remember this more than any other post.

Helmet.

(that was a joke)

50 times in this thread.

Wadey Ashraf  raises and Jonathan Hickling calls in the blinds

Q-Q-5

Jonathan checks

Wadey 12,000

Jonathan 30,000 check raise

Wadey 65,000

Call

6 turn

Jonathan checks

Wadey a big 130,000

Wadey covers Jonathan comfortably

Jonathan folds showing K-Q!

Wadey can't resist, shows him A-7!
Oh dear, how could he fold trips on a board like that so lightly??? The chances that Wadey has a better hand than Jonathan is very minimal. AQ, 55 - this is a call all day long!

If we are folding here then we may as well go home.

Quite hypocritical.
Players should show class at the table.
Unfortunately too few players do & this is not
just confined to DTD.
Honeybadger & Gosney to provide lessons imo.
