Does anyone actually care about this shit?  I mean gamblers rip off other gamblers shocker.  Simple way of dealing with this don't lend to them.

...... you know that's the point of these posts, right? To try and make sure people don't lend money to people who aren't safe to lend to?

Dan has now paid back £200 of the £550 he owes, and agreed to communicate once a week as to his situation regarding paying back the rest.

Cheers

Paul

I can't see any way the Tories fight the next election with TM as leader and October is the earliest any leadership contest could happen so another 2017 GE looks unlikely IMO.

Doesn't a vote of no confidence make an election mandatory?

Didn't seem to for Corbyn

Different between a party leader and the PM.  If the opposition call a vote of no confidence then the Govt can be brought down think Callaghan in 1979 when Gerry Fitt abstained.

I don't know the rules, but in Corbyn's case pretty much everyone assumed he couldn't survive a no confidence vote and he did.

And just look at the bastard now, eh? Wink

Have the Sun officially tied their colours to the Tory mast yet or have we got to wait until Thursday to find out who white van man will be told to vote for?

The Sun is the Daily Mail for the working class. Has been since Gordon Brown Pissed them off.

They normally just wait to the day before then put up the 1/10 or 1/50 fav and chirp afterwards 'we knew' every 5 years

They were dead against Ed milliband way before elections, never seen his name in the sun where it wasnt "red ed" and their political bloke was so far up camerons arse he was like a father who thinks his kid is the next gazza. Would read it to know but always thought they were quite a big factor in vote determining in their readers. My Dads always been a sun reader and a massive labour supporter, but all Ive heard about the last two labour leaders is negatives, people who read that shit are so easy manipulated.

They certainly are but they (white van man, mondeo man etc etc) are very very important to winning the seats that matter to get you over the line.  Most of these types read the Sun that is why historically the Sun's backing is so important.

If you are stupid enough to read the sun, you are stupid enough to do what a billionaire tells you.

How many copies of the Sun are sold every day nowadays ?  When i was a kid i think it was about 4m.   Must be way lower than that nowadays with print media in massive decline.

It's reach goes way beyond that though, everyone who reads it talks to f***loads of people and not one of them is the sharpest tool in the box, so herd mentality kicks in. It was made very popular/fashionable to hate Milliband.

This is such a comfort blanket for you guys.   Thicko reads newspaper and speaks to other thickos. That's the only reason your superior ideals take a pummelling at the ballot box.   It's never the fact that people don't rate your ideas.

I feel like that's not a fair assessment. Assume for a moment that our only source of news is The Sun, and all they do is smear one candidate and praise another. In this case, the majority will vote for the praised candidate because all they've heard about them is good things and all the bad parts have been missed out, so it actually has nothing to do with people not rating their ideas. It has to do with their exposure to them, and the spin that gets put on them. It's hard to rate someones ideas when you aren't properly exposed to them, and don't fully understand them as a result.

Is anyone else watching May feeling like this is painfully awkward?

Conspiracy theory - Tories want to lose so Labour deal with Brexit and get slammed by the nation, thus never winning an election again

If it means that the introduction of full on thought crime gets delayed, I'm all for that plan.

I think if Corbyn shows up to the debate tonight I'll go and put some money on him winning the election. If he doesn't, I think Theresea has this. Seems too much to me like Corbyn is following May on the whole let's not debate thing (well if you won't do it, I won't!) but this is a spot for him to start becoming a leader in the public's eyes rather than a follower.

Pics of masseuse?

£1 per minute for a massage seems very toppy.

I've not been to DTD for a while, so wouldn't have a clue.

My sports masseuse is only £35 an hour, but he doesn't look like any of them Cheesy

Linkmeplz, this could be a proper money saver

Hey everyone, this will be a post regarding some recent dealings with Daniel Lowe (LiberatorNED on Party) to Paul Allen (Sheld0nc00per / Paul12907), which has taken place over the last month and a half. Paul has asked me to post this for him on here, since Dan has become a reasonably well known member of the community:

On the 17th April, Dan asked me to borrow £550 in order to buy into a Phase 1 tournament at the recent partypoker MILLIONS festival. I agreed, on the provision that he would pay it back the next day after he received money from his father. At the time Dan was staying with me for the festival rent free, and had been for some time, so it didn’t seem like there would be any issue. He stays at my house for several days at a time sometimes up to a week 2-3x a month on average to play at Dusk Till Dawn.

That was obviously well over a month ago, and Dan spent most of that time living with me until he left on the 14th May. I was asking him for the money regularly during this time, and was quickly starting to feel taken advantage of as more of the deadlines we set were passing.

Dan was continuing to play poker during this time at my local casino, tournaments and cash games. On the 11th May, Dan chopped one of these daily MTTs for a little over £1k (I’m unsure on the exact amount, he’s listed as finishing second, chops in this club are always ICM based and first is guaranteed at 1.2k). The next day, he goes out and buys himself a new Ipad as well as some other clothing type things and didn’t pay back any of what he owed. As part of this chop, he won a seat into a two day tournament at the weekend. He took at least three bullets at £220 a go, and ended up finishing 16th in the tournament on the 14th May for £1050 (listed on the club website). After this result he sat down in a cash game and lost AT LEAST a few hundred, and had his second massage of the weekend at £1 a minute for at least an hour on each day. I ended up sat in the same cash game as him that night and at no point did he pay me back any of the money, offer to pay me back any money, or even mention the issue as all, despite being reminded of the debt the previous day.

The next day he left early, and I didn’t manage to speak to him properly before he went home. That same day I sent him a message on Facebook asking about the situation with the debt, and he promised to pay it back within the week. We set a deadline for Friday 19th and I gave him my bank details. On this day [Friday 19th], I received no money, and no word from Dan until I messaged him myself at 2219, he said that he needed to visit the bank and would do so the next day and asked for my bank details again, which I provided him, and he acknowledged with a thumbs up. This deadline also passed. On Sunday, he was sent a message by my housemate regarding the issues over the debt, which he didn’t reply to. On Monday night / Tuesday morning 1200-0100 he was contacted regarding this post being made and replied instantly, citing unspecified family and personal problems as the reason for not paying me back and apologised, saying he would have it paid back by the coming Friday. At this point I didn’t feel like there was any point in dragging this out for another week, as people are speculating about this issue anyhow, and only for another deadline to pass, so I gave Dan until 1400 on Tuesday 23rd to pay, or this post would be made. This deadline has also passed, and given his standing in the poker community it seems prudent at this point to notify everyone of the situation should they consider any financial dealings with him.

At this time Dan owes £550. Any further developments and I will update this post.
This is not a post to slate Dan, it’s simply to make everyone here aware of the facts and to tell the truth over this issue, as it's being speculated about somewhat by people as it is.

The new system is a lot better, easier to use and more friendly for recs and regs. There will be lots of sales with powerfest series.

Can you justify just removing everyone's points though? Idk, just seems completely unnecessary to me.

Agree with Adam, seems kinda scummy. At least Sam Trickett emailed us all personally to tell us how great this idea is though.
73  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poker Commentary - time to mix it up? on: February 21, 2017, 03:22:32 AM
Think there's a few problems with trying to get too technical in that it's not that hard to get it wrong/say something stupid along with going to deep and losing your audience, but think with commentary it always comes down to what your audience is and what you're trying to achieve.

If your audience is mostly recreational players and "rando morons" (sorry, couldn't help it), then you'll do much better by just having fun and talking strategy on a more basic level by pointing stuff out that they may not notice.

If your audience is mostly pros or people who consider themselves/aspire to be pros, then the more technical stuff is going to be much better.

So, ESPN coverage for me seems to be aimed at a very wide audience, and as such needs to appeal to people who know little more about poker than the rules. Obviously it also needs to appeal to people that play more etc, but I think that the "pro" part of their viewership a) is smaller than everyone else watching and b) won't actually mind that much if commentary is more fun and less technical.

Completely agree re-commentary, not sure if it's fair to say it's bad to have good players in the booth but definitely being a good player doesn't make you a good commentator.

I don't mean to underestimate Blondes' attention spans. This is a longer series of extracts from DeVos' horror-show.

The reason she doesn't want to answer Tim Kaine's questions is because she wants to move some funds from public schools to private profit-making school companies, which would not be subject to all of the same regulations.

Dear lord, that's unpleasant viewing. Wonder how cleaning up the swamp is going?

Is there no way for the opposition to make a proper legal claim when someone is clearly a dangerously poor choice for office and challenge their appointment?
