Ah it's good to see you were paying attention there.

We can boost the Real price by using Coral's 'to win not to nil' market http://www.oddschecker.com/football/spain/la-liga-primera/real-madrid-v-betis/to-win-not-to-nil.

On the brightside for Arsenal, they have lot's of money to spend. On the downside, they still have lot's of money to spend...

La Liga kicked off last night with Athletic Bilbao starting their quest for 3rd place with an away win, Villareall play on Monday night.

The big 2 kick off tonight and until they show a propensity to concentrate on defending it's worth having an investment on both teams to score at above evens.

Suggested bets:

£20 btts=yes Real Madrid vs Betis  @2.1 with PP
£20 btts=yes Barcelona vs Levante @2.25 with BetVic

Bad news for the Southampton bet as they have just signed Victor Wanyama for £12m from Celtic.Easily the best player to leave Scotland since Henrik Larsson.
If he stays injury free he will goto the very top.

Why didn't a top team get him if that's the case?

Wanyama is an absolute beast and will be great signing for Southampton.

The role he plays as a holding midfield enforcer is pretty much out of fashion with the big clubs, more dynamic, technical players are used for the defensive minded midfield role.
http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/southampton/8875902/wanyama-is-worth-20-million

After one match Wanyama is quoted as a 20m Player although I agree with Merson it would be good if he could pronounce his name, it's only his job.

Brilliant, Merson was so far off the mark no-one had any idea who he was referring to. Later on he doesn't even attempt to pronounce Dejan Lovren.

John Hartson has just tweeted that he is on his way to the Emirates to do stuff for the BBC and is Wazza on his way to Arsenal?Huh? Hartson obviously played for Arsenal and I can't think of a reason why he would have tweeted about Rooney going there unless someone at the club had said something to him?

You can still get 7's that Arsenal is his next Club.

Thanks Mr Rubbish.

Hmm.

If there were some foundations to that, plenty of folks would know before John Hartson (imo), & it does not make sense for Utd to sell to a rival, or even sell at all. I'm just inherently suspicious of tips from jockeys, footballers & the like! Plenty of media chatter of course, but nothing solid, & I'm sure the bookies know better than John Hartson, the media, or us, so it is odd they still offer 7/1.

But.....

We have £66 @ 10/11 for Rooney to STAY at Man U, so maybe we could take £10 by way of cover?

Thoughts anyone?

I'll have a look at BetFair & see if there appears to be any interest, if they have such a market.

This is nothing, the rumour mill will be in full flow in the days leading up to Man United vs Chelsea on the 26th.

The thinking on the spanish bet Tikay

At Madrid are rightful favs and betfreds 11/8 is an ok price. However i am not sure how well Villa will last a season and whether him and Costa will be anything like the partnership him and Falcao were, they might not need to be tbf.

Valencia next in without Soldado will be a fair bit weaker, they also have a new hardline manager and a squad full of talent but biggish egos will either finish 3rd or mid table i think not big enough to risk.

The rest of the contenders are either in Europe (big disadvantage in Spain kick offs are very rarely moved to compensate anybody expect the big two) or so skint it is untrue and judging them on attractive looking squads now is folly.

Atheltic Bilbao are a solid side as usual, they no longer have my hero coaching but have a more than decent replacement and have as per usual a settled squad with a sounder financial setting than this time last season. They are most likely to fall short but if the two favs falter they are best placed to challenge.

Villareal just been promoted have a much younger squad than before with still a mix of experience especially upfront. Bit of a flyer but they have been up there not that long ago and sides have slipped out of La Liga before and comfortably challenged top half first season back. The 66/1 quotes look about right at 200/1 they are worth the risk.

It's good to see Fred got on this. Anything could happen outside the top 2, there's probably more value to be had in La Liga than the EPL and if I had to pick a side to bet on it'd be Bilbao.

The La Liga suggestion is a team to score 100+ points (over 38games)  http://www.oddschecker.com/football/spain/la-liga-primera/spanish-la-liga-primera/team-to-get-100plus-points
Starting with the most recent season, the winning points tallies have been 100 (Barca), 100 (Real), 96 and 99. Much like the 4min mile and sub 10sec 100m, once these landmarks have been broken it can lead to an opening the flood gates for repeat efforts.

Last season Barca achieved it despite dropping 5 points vs Real Madrid. Also the exodus of talent from the rest of the La Liga clubs is in favour of the bet.

Oh and and the price on offer is a very appealing 3.8

Guys I've got a post ante suggestion for La Liga if there's interest in getting on with 888 or Unibet...

On an entirely unrelated note have any bookies priced up a side to score the worst ever EPL points total this season?

Anyway here's a working line for that video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuqGrz-Y_Lc

Ladbrokes offering 33/1 that #mufc win none of their opening five PL games

Any good?

Swansea (a)
Chelsea (h)
Liverpool (a)
Palace (h)
Man City (a)

Hi exstream, that price is longer than I first thought it would be, so I did some quick math. By my estimates backing United opponents to win or draw (laying United) would pay  1.9 x 1.6 x 2.2 x 5.5 x 1.6 = ~ 57-1.

One pro is that the 3rd / 4th / 5th prices will change more to be in our favour if United start poorly. That said if my math is correct it is hard to see where the value lies and there's not many scenarios whereby Palace are taking points away from Old Trafford.

Disclaimer: I'm a Man United fan and was always going to find a reason to oppose the bet.

Yes, the likes of HGV drivers tend to have a good level of awareness, which is probably down to the extra training. However, the white van man can often see you as getting in the way of his day to day job.

There's a great study on the psychology of drivers by the University of Berkeley in this video [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuqGrz-Y_Lc/url].

The only spoiler I'll give is that Blondes with a few miles under their belts might be familiar with the sight of these certain vehicles in the bicycle safety boxes!

Suarez is staying at Liverpool according to the rumour mill. 1.29 was available to lay on Betfair so someone out there in the know must be really confident he's staying.

Coral haven't suspended their betting yet and still offer 1.66 if that takes anyone's fancy.
