Q. I used a $550 ticket to enter the party poker deep stack last weekend. I read somewhere that players using the ticket get back the difference between the $550 and the £330 reg fee. which I believe is around £30. how is this money paid is it back into the party poker account??? how long does this usually take?? does anyone know the answer please

This 3 day structure is great for professional players who have time on their hands. However, the deep stack needs to attract a thousand entrants or so to make it a success..... are there a thousand pros willing to turn up on a monthly basis, im guessing not!
So to make this event increasingly popular there needs to be a high mix of recreational and club players and people with deep pockets, I am not sure that this structure allows many recreational or club players a chance to get involved in the main event as the day 1's are predominantly midweek with the exception of Saturday morning (which is a turbo and a form of 'last chance saloon') which most regular/decent players would not entertain and only do so out of necessity. I believe that this format excludes the many (who work weekdays) and who can only play on a weekend. In this 3 day structure, the only realistic event that a recreational play can get involved with in my opinion is restricted to the Friday evening day1, as it is the only day 1 which has a decent clock and doesn't include a turbo.
I am in a position where I can juggle my schedule and play any day of the week, so to me this three day schedule is great but I think for the many it is likely to be a hindrance. with dtd needing high volumes of runners, they should not exclude any category of poker play if they can help it! I myself fired two bullets, the Friday 2pm with a 45 min clock which I really enjoyed and begrudgingly the Saturday morning turbo which is an awful event (never to be repeated).
Guessing something needs to change as the guarantees do not seem to be being made......Or is this the Vegas lag??!! time will tell.

Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Seniors Tournaments (50yrs +) introduced at DTD

senior tournaments must haves: 1. spare spectacle's for the seniors that have left theirs at home or even some spy glasses would do the trick.
2. A two hour clock to allow for thought processes.
3. denture cleaning products in the rest room.
4. spare catheters for emergencies.
can anyone think of more suggestions???

Everyone loves 'Value' and i'm guessing there is plenty of that at dtd this weekend, something that all poker players appreciate and welcome!
However, wasn't the ethos at dtd to create a venue to encourage grass route players to attend and play poker, win decent money from a reasonably price stake and create a poker community?? Rob Young has rightly blogged about this aspiration many times and this is to his credit!!
The Main event is a $550 buy in with multiple day 1's and All side events appear to be $500 buy ins. Is this really going to encourage the grass route players and poker masses to attend and play at dtd. In my opinion events of this nature should have a mix of events and buy in to encourage participation. This surely encourages all poker players of differing calibre's and means to come and play at the club!? There is a high roller event for persons of deep pockets, a main event for the many but nothing reasonably priced as a side event. why I ask myself?? This must be good for the game as every new poker player, aspire to play bigger events as their experience and confidence grows. If they are playing $100 torneys today there likely to be playing the $500 and $1k tomorrow. etc (you get what I mean).
If you wanted to play every day one (and there is 5 of them) plus all side events, then this would be a very expensive weekend, and a price that most recreational poker players could not afford and even if they could afford it may not be able to justify!??
For what my opinion is worth (your prob reading this and thinking 'not much') there should be some more reasonable priced side events to cater for all pockets and tastes! Coming off the back of the grand prix, I believe a £110 side event would have encouraged many more people who enjoyed the gran prix to return and have another great weekend at dtd > fish food for thought!!

cant believe that such a big guarantee'd event has such poor blogs........ bring back some decent blonde blogs!!!
There is no point in holding a great event without the poker world knowing about it....... there should be lots of bloggers from all the poker world, magazine, forums. etc. that generates the buzz which I think was missing from this event!!!

What was the final numbers for the gran prix at dtd?? hope they managed to get close to the guarantee....... there was talk of a 300k shortfall, but dtd always pull it out of the bag!!
Total attendance was 7,128 I believe, leaving an overlay of $287,200. 516 players started Day 2b, 306 are paid from these with 46 players remaining. They'll play down to 30 players tonight. live updates will be on the partypoker blog from Day 3 until the tournament's conclusion. Its a shame that dtd didn't get close to the guarantee, but good on Rob to announce another 1M guarantee in December. With a longer build up and and a bit more thought in the marketing, then it will smash the guarantee and bring some Christmas cheer to everyone!!

Got through last night, bit gutted to lose 200k near the end (under pair hit a set) but still got 300k
Only about 12% made day two - still got one 1p won seat to play with next week aswell - always fun when you have already made day two
One thing I know from previous grand prixs is that the blinds increase fairly quickly and it soon becomes lots of shoving so any size stack has a chance ;-)
good luck for day 2!! you gonna play the online or live day 2.... or both?? 18 levels will be a bit of a marathon live I recon.... hence the 10 am starts at the club. I am trying to grind on Party but not getting anywhere. cant get to grips with the skin. on the other hand reloaded my genting lastnight and won a gps seat on my first attempt..... bring back ipoker. lol well done smurf for getting into day 2 and with a decent stack....... how many levels did you play in the day 1 event?? think your already in the money as all day 2's get a cash!?!? It's 18 levels which stops at 6k 12k but it's rolled back for day to two levels - I think with an average 12-13% getting through and some of them being doubles it won't be far off 10% making day two so I would think it will be very close to the money like you say - the problem if they say 'yes day two is In the money ' then the last day one is played after the first day two - there would be lots of tiny stacks limping through just to cash - so expect there to be a few on day two not paid Still playing te penny rolls though to try and grab some more entries
