Keep looking bud.

Did you ever think about trying to find a job in a poker context, not necessarily marketing, that could lead onto something bigger, if you wanted to pursue a career in the poker industry.

I know someone else said there wouldn't be much scope for marketing within poker, i guess it is quite a niche market.

Getting a job within poker would atleast be a start.

Have you tried approaching some of the big poker sites? Or using contacts you have, i guess your well known if you play a lot live.

Good luck with it anyway, and playing too!

Was on today, unfortunatly i'm going 2 a party tonight, so couldn't make it.

Know what you are saying, at newcastle spent a fortune on drink!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's been a bizarre couple of weeks with the poker. Just after my last post on here i went on an amazing heater, i had  a run of 6/7 consecutive winning days. Life was good, it was easy, confidence was through the roof.

Things changed on Monday of this week, I ended up 3.5 bi's down. I wasn't playing particuarly bad just running terrible. Tuedsay through to Thursday, i had a massive swing up and down, winning and losing, it's the most swingy time i've ever experienced with poker. I was so annoyed with myself cause i had started to play really bad, a good example I have AQ, in a 4 bet pot, Queen high flop, we get it in on the flop, of course he has kings! It's so obvious he had an over pair, but instead of calling opponents flop bet i go and reraise and called his shove, pretty bad.

It was made worse by the fact i was chasing losses and played a lot more 20nl over 10nl.

I was tilted, playing bad and running bad. I'm embarassed looking at some of the hand histories.

Another thing that was tilting was every table had 3/4 tight "regulars" on them (at 10nl) so there was no action at all, and they were on every table, so things were really slow.

Friday and today have been really good days and i'm in profit overall for the week which on Thursday wouldn't have seemed possible.

It's been a turbulent week at the poker but long term it's taught me some important lessons, especially don't play when tilted, just stop! Better to be down 2 bi than making it worse by losing more.

There's also a lot of stuff i need to learn in relation to poker. If i want to play 20nl and beat 20nl convinclingly, there's a lot of work to be done!

In a live game i'd get a 100 bbs in with this hand no problem. Why did you lead? Is it that likely to check through. Surely we want to bloat the pot now when we usually have best hand and no real idea what bad turns are if we get two callers.

Because i want to start building a pot when chances are i have the best hand. I need to protect it a bit too. No idea if check raising is the best option. No guarantees anyone is betting, though there probably would be a bet.

Any information on the villain in this hand?

Vs a lot of general casino players, I'm happy getting it in here. Probably shouldn't play the hand pre, but in reality im not folding for the extra £2. We don't travel to a casino to fold hands innit :p. Q2/Q3 is possible, people do limp with suited combos of this hand in a live game, but I find myself in similar situations to this fairly often in some of the local casinos and pretty much always end up getting it in against top pair. In a "tough" game of "good" players, we shouldnt be playing this hand in the first place and should really be folding it post too, but vs the bulk of casual casino goers who can get overly fond of top pair, we're in pretty good shape against their range. This is another one of those important distinctions between standard live and online poker, where something that is definitely a mistake in online poker can be ok, if not optimal, in a live situation. It's rare that you'll be put in this sort of spot in an online game, very rarely see 5 limpers.

Basically, seems fine to me, given the above factors. Also want to point out that they can have QQ here too, although it is kinda rare, the limp raise is still a popular one. Super system says so :p

Opponent limped a fair bit. Only other hand of note was when I raised the button, the flop came 445, I bet, he called other player called, turn was a 9, Check Check, I bet he £18 he raised to £50, 3rd player folded, I tanked for a while before folding his line didn't make sense I was sure he was bluffing, in the end I decided to fold as I could find a better spot.

Definatly totally different to online! This hand in question, he has already re reaised me in a hand.

So when this hand happened, i'm pretty comfortable getting it in. I thought AQ would be raised pre. I didn't expect KQ or JQ Qx would re raise me, but probablywas  the type of hand he had.

I had not seen any of his hands shown down so far.

I've only really made some money from poker in the last 1 year, and particularly the last 6 months.

The last 6months have been phenomenal for me given the stakes I play. I was on a bit of a heater, and have been playing reasonably well too I think.

Some friends have commented and asked why I continue to play ultra  low stake games. I used to think if it's not broke why fix it, generally I really enjoy poker and winning consistently is pretty sweet.

I made a post elsewhere about "moving up stakes" and was interested to hear other peoples opinions, asking should I keep with the status quo or move up stakes and give it a go.

A couple of months ago I had a go at 20nl, only a couple of tables,  and it didn't go really well. I was only playing 2 tables, and played really bad. It wasn't a good sample size, and I wasn't "bankrolled" for it. I'm now going to give it another go.

It's time to have a go at poker at higher levels than what i'm currently playing. I have a bankroll of £1000 and if I was to set a "target" roughly speaking it would be to take 300-400 out per month while keeping my account at atleast £1000.

I played at the weekend live, it was really sweet I made over £300 (I had sat down with 200), cashing out my chips they asked do you want it in 50s! Crazy walking out of a casino with 10 £50 notes, plus a few other notes too lol

Next day decided I better get it banked, cause no shops, or hardly any, take 50 quid notes lol Got it paid into my "poker account". From that account £1000 is my new "bankroll".

I have a 20% drop zone if I ever get to £800 or below, I will re think what i'm doing, but doubt this will be an issue, hope not anyway!

Wish me luck:)

Hey!

Live game, I have  two spades three clubs in the bb. Blinds are 1/2, live cash game. UTG straddles, there is 5 callers, I call the extra 2 pound with so many players in, UTG checks.

Flop

Two Diamonds . The pot is £20, sb checks I lead out for £14, utg folds, utg plus 1 raises to £42, it folds round to me, what would you do here?

I'm confident I have the best hand outside a set of two spades or , and that's hard to see with me holding 2 3, i'm pretty sure I have the best hand here, was thinking about smooth calling, but oop decided I just wanted to get it in.

I reraised to £90, opponent shoved and i snap call. I had about a further £80 behind, if he smooth called, I was shoving any safe turn card.

My thinking was there was no flush draw, no real draws apart from 45, couldn't see him having q2 or 3, only was really worried about a set, and if he had a set good luck to him.

No I/net poker over the weekend, but new computer is on it's way should be delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Ended up playing cash at the casino at the weekend (for the first time) which went really well! I'll update in a few days.

No idea if it was a sky player than won the SPT or a DTD player, but absolutely amazing score, very well played to the winner.

No poker today, ended up breaking my laptop by spilling milk from my cereal onto it! Totally clever haha I have no idea about computers but called up the company and they said it was probably the mother board, and basically they don't have the part any more cause the computers too old, so new lap top it is!

I was planning on getting a new laptop soon anyway, so it's just speeded up the process, and no use crying over spilt milk:P.

Wasn't sure what to get, but I've decided i'm going for an sony vaio fit, or  something similar to this

Hey Paul!

Yeah was at the game,  brilliant! Atmosphere was amazing, brilliant result. Just hoping we can get something in holland and beat milan at home! Not much 2 ask for lol
Bit of a shame the Ajax supporters went a bit crazy, a guy was stabbed in the town before the game by an ajax supporter and they ended up tearing up seats and throwing them into the Celtic end, one just missed a young kid, and in the end the mum  left at half time, hope uefa takes a strong line against them. Was going to try and get a ticket for the game in 2 weeks, some friends and family are goingover , but after last night i'm not even going to bother.

Cant mind if you were still there on the Sunday night, Brian was playing HU in the sidey which he went onto win after the longest HU battle ever. Think we drank about 5 pints in the time it took him to finish hu lol
