Sri Lanka win the toss and elect to bowl in the 2015 ICC World Cup opener against New Zealand.
Price goes from 3.0+ to 2.8
Sorry, went out soon after last post, having seen current situation I am still happy with my bet, any other matches I see/think there are value in I will put up with a recommendation

one for tighty...
Whilst i appreciate recent form with NZ, to my eye they are over rated against sri lanka in the first match tonight. I know they are at home and will have the crowd etc, but sri lanka are a decent side, have a good top order and malinga. available at 2/1 with a few people, still think 7/4 is decent though.
thoughts?
NZ are too short to back for sure in this one. the recency of a 4-2 series win last month and fantastic home form (won 16 of 18 last ODIs) is all priced in but its overcast in Christchurch this morning, and i would be worried about the NZ seam attack if the pitch is a bit fruity first thing and SL are stuck in similarly in Melbourne, looking at the forecast its set to be more like Manchester and will suit England. I would be more tempted to back England at 5/2+ than Sri Lanka in Christchurch the prevailing conditions both tosses might be important worth keeping an eye out for and backing after the toss? Would imagine that price wouldn't change too much? except you run into the problem that this world cup will be a nocturnal one for us the NZ game begins at 11pm fine the Melbourne game 3.30am, not so fine with so much depending on events in the 90 minutes before the game - the toss and prevailing conditions - it isn't going to be eay to be that active on a game by game basis yea i ment just the first game due to timings etc

You may or may not know that Formula E starts tomorrow, a second top-level Worldwide motorsport series, and the first global electric racing series. As this is a brand new series, there are extremely limited betting markets with only Ladbrokes and Betfair offering odds. Testing has been very limited, and drivers have only had a maximum of five days in the car (most haven't even had that!). Making any bet suggestion now would be somewhat of a stab in the dark because everything is completely new. Having said that, based on my knowledge of racing drivers in general, and using those five days of testing I would suggest the following bet: £10 on Sebastien Buemi @ 3/1 to win the Beijing ePrix with Ladbrokes. He is the favourite, but in my opinion he is the quickest driver by some margin in this series - at least at the start of the season, therefore this price does represent value. Would also suggest £5 on Antonio Felix da Costa at 20/1 with Betfair - he's a quick driver who has shown in the past he can turn his hand to anything, 20/1 is definitely value on this guy - the only person who has the potential to be as talented as Sebastian Vettel in my opinion. http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-e/beijing-eprix/winnerNote: Formula E runs all their sessions on a Saturday, so don't wait until Sunday haha - place it ASAP No love for Heidfeld or Trulli e/w at fancy prices? Heidfeld always had a knack of getting on the podium and for some strange reason i was a bit of a Trulli fanboy back in the day Always droe well i felt. (haven't seen any of the testing etc so could be way off with this)

Question for Tighty/any other cricketing people on this thread. I whiffed at Southampton with my rec of India to win, whilst I'm happy as an Englishman that we won, I'm still surprised we actually won! With the next test starting on Thursday my mind was drawn to this and rather than simply putting up a result, I've thought of a more "left field" market. That is the top Indian bowler for the test. I must say right now I've not looked at odds, its more for a discussion and that is Pankaj Singh for top Indian Bowler. Whilst he technically has the "worst figures for a bowler on debut in a international test" he bowled rather well. I was at the 4th day at the Rosebowl and felt he performed well, was out done by the pitch/Cook's tedious blocking. Ishant Sharma sat most of practice out today, the pitch is suppose to be quite fast, bouncy and hopefully swingy. These conditions would suit Pankaj and he should take a few wickets (if Ishant doesn't play). I would expect most bookies to price him up as an "outsider" due to his lack of wickets on debut, but I feel this would be wrong. Don't expect massive odds, something in the 4/1 region as India have already selected him for a test, Kumar has been decent as has Shami. Think it might be a decent sweat, not only that, if the match gets rain effected then a cheeky couple of wickets might be enough for the win! Thoughts please Tighty and others.

Shockingly England are favourites (7/4 best) to win the next test and India are best priced (9/4 fred, sporting, betway) and the draw is 7/4 as well. These prices make no sense at all, England team out of form, no real changes to the squad other than Buttler in for prior, weather set fair everyday apart from Sunday where showers are forecast. Chance both sides rest a seamer, but England's back up (Woakes) is unproven in tests.
Who knows what the wicket will look like, but I feel this doesn't matter too much. Reason being is I can't see a grounds man making anther Chennai bridge, Lords was the exact pitch England asked for, but we failed to bat/bowl properly and rightly lost. Shouldn't be too spin friendly as only 1 (for lack of a better word) real spinner in the squad (Ali). So I expect a similar wicket to Lords, which showed England's frailty's throughout the squad.
recommend £40 India to win the next test with baldfred.
(as a side, the odds for the series winner are as follows: England 9/2, Draw 7/2, India 7/10)

India have had by far the worst of the conditions here, big disadvantage losing the toss
but have bowled very well i thought
214-6 plays 290 is really a pick-em game, though of course England bat deep
Eng 2.2 draw 3.4 India 3.85 and i still think india are too big.
been mispriced since yesterday lunchtime, in my opinion
been mispriced since the Sri Lanka series imo!

Been banging on about it for a while now, did Fred ever get on India for the series win? On phone atm so can't check spredy/odds. Even with a pitch tailored to England, our batting is just too fragile and it seems most of our guys have the yips and don't look like they want to be out in the middle.

What price do we want Wilkinson? I can't believe after all this time the thread has been going, that the price still isn't mentioned anywhere.
The each way frims are 12/1 best with a fifth first 3. So we are backing a long term odds on chance if we think the best he can do is place.
It is virtually an arb on Betfair, but that would take a lot of money for a long time so that isn't really an option anyway, just saying it is there.
To me this looks like someone has had a good idea at a big price a month or so ago, and it has filtered down to here too late.
The Market is just like one of those bad sellers @ Yarmouth or Brighton, you go through the card & strike out those who cannot win, & nobody is left. There must be a winner though, & with MardyBum a false favourite imo, there must be some value somehere. Maybe Mardy is the best of a bad bunch. "Personality" must have a special meaning in SPOTY. You not think this mardybum bit just shows your bias? The personality thing doesn't mean much in this. There have been several other notable dullards have won it over the years. Froome wins teh Tour De France or Hamilton wins the World Drivers Championship, surely wiining the Rugby World Cup in a team game several years ago doesn't cut it? Nigel Mansell won this when second in the World Championship and I certainly wouldn't even put him ahead of Hamilton. That goes for both personality and talent. the F1 season ends with double points in Abu Dhabi. this is a week or two before SPOTY He's currently 30 points below Rosberg but i think we can assume he'll be within touching distance for double points to matter in that last race if he wins the F1WDC, there doesn't seem to be a SPOTY alternative. is hugely popular (not on here) with masses of fans i think we are struggling to find a springer to go against him! we are on him at 9/1 for SPOTY and the market has broken v well for that bet, on account of no one else doing anything. just needs to win the title now Wait - we are on Mardy @ 9/1? Go Mardy, love the man, won't have a word said against him. Legend, boss, hero & other silly names. No bias here, oh no. 15-Mar bunnydas8888 Ladbrokes Dec-2014 Misc. 2014 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Hamilton 9/1 10 good bet sir. well done tikay. Also, Hamilton has had some car issues in recent weeks, no reason why Rosberg wont get car issues later in the year if not this weekend. Must confess though I'm a Hamilton fanboy. Boom

there is a betway account, but its not funded
you can
a) suggest somewhere else or
b) wait for the boss to come back with his satchels of dollars* and remind me at the end of the week please
*terms and conditions apply
Honestly have no idea how England's inevitable loss will impact the price before (what I think) will be lunch tomorrow. I currently have no idea how England can be odds on/evens at all. I would say take best price available unless we think price will hold after the carnage of tomorrow. only two firms price it, will wait for nearer the time, hope for 2-1+ Just read the write up on BE (free to users) and reminded me of this. Did fred get on at any point?
