1  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: SB vs BB $10 NL Pokerstars on: April 03, 2015, 01:56:27 PM
I don't know why I led out on the river. Looking back I can see that it was the wrong thing to do here. If I check the river is there any bet sizing that I can call from him?

The reason I did it I suppose is probably something to do with me thinking its blind vs blind and thinking "he can't have anything because its BB vs SB and he thinks I'm at it therefore I think he's at it". Obviously this is the wrong way to think and it cost me this time.

Did I play this awfully? I would really appreciate some feedback on how I played this hand and how I could have played it differently.

Folds around to me in SB. I have just joined the table and have no history with this player. We both have $10. Blinds obviously $0.05 & $0.10

Hero:
Villain: ??

Hero raises to $0.30
Villain calls

Flop:

Pot size - $0.60

Hero bets $0.40
Villain calls

Turn:
Board:

Pot size - $1.40

Hero bets $0.85
Villain raises to $1.70
Hero calls

River:  Two Clubs
Board:        Two Clubs

Pot size: $4.80

Hero bets $2.60
Villain raises to $5.30
Hero calls

Villain shows pockes sixes for the flopped set.

I am not playing much poker at the minute but I am really looking to get into it and I would really appreciate it if anyone would be able to shed some light on where I have gone wrong on this hand and what I should be doing differently.

Thanks very much

Ok so I've just had an argument with my brother about whether or not I should bet the turn here or not. I said we shouldn't bet the turn here as we don't want the pot getting out of control with a pair of eights in a three bet pot and I don't really see what is calling me on the turn that I'm beating and I'm more worried about the pot getting too big with my hand than I am about giving a free card especially on this board as I said in a three bet pot.

On a separate note what do we think when he bets the river like this?

Thanks for any comments

True... but in general what hand is going to call me? From my experience which isn't that much (20k hands) QQ seems to be on the lower end of what people are getting it in with. AK will get it in most of the time which I don't mind. But not that many people seem to be getting it in with tens or jacks and everyone is getting it in with aces and kings. Seems like I'm flipping or losing the majority of the time... is this not your experience?? Do you think I've just been running up against the top end of peoples ranges recently and should continue to stack off with QQ or is it a fold sometimes even without specific information to the contrary?

Thanks for the help I've been getting in general. This isn't a particular hand but just QQ in general at 10NL 100bb deep. What is your general consensus in getting it in pre-flop with two queens. I fold it to the rockiest of rocks but stack off against most players with no specific reads or reasons not to and the last week or so I seem to be behind a lot of the time.

Here are two situations which come up a lot with this hand hero and villain both with $10 stacks:

1. I raise to $0.30, villain re-raises to $1.00, I re-raise to $2.40, villain goes all-in. What do I do?
2. Villain raises to $0.30, I re-raise to $1.00, villain re-raises to $2.40. What do I do?

In situation one without any specific reads or reasons should I be stacking off in general here?

In situation two should I be re-raising all in or just flatting and then stacking off on the flop with no overs or super scary boards?

In general I've been finding that in these situations getting it all in pre-flop usually ends up in me either being way behind to aces or kings or being on the right side of a coin toss against AK which makes me think that this is a fold a lot of the time. Seems I should be folding more in these situations? Its not often that other players seem to be willing to commit with jacks or worse. Would really like to know how you guys feel about this hand in these situations.

Thanks

Just wondering what you guys think of this hand? Do I fold AA with lots of action on this flop? Does he always have a set here or do you think he can have AQ type hands? I don't want to be one of those guys just stacking off with an over pair every time but I also don't like getting bet off of hands. Any comments welcome. Thanks

Should I have slowed down when the third club comes? What if I check and he bets do I have to call? Surely I can't be folding every time three suited cards come out?

Any comments welcome Smiley

Thanks for the detailed answer.. really helpful.

I guess I was thinking that seeing as he limped pre-flop then just called the raise he wasn't that strong. I thought that by betting the flop and turn I could get him to fold out jx or weak kx hands (should have bet more on turn if I wanted to do this?) and I didn't put him on ak as I thought he would re-raise that hand pre-flop playing out of position.

When he ships the river I think that he either has q10 or a missed draw... I thought q10 was unlikely seeing as I held 2 queens so I called. I didn't think he was shipping with just a king...

As it turns out he held J 9 giving him two pair on the river and I paid him off...

All in all a pretty bad call.. I just had trouble putting him on a hand that would just call the flop and turn and then ship with the 9 on the river... (I thought it was possible he was slow playing a flopped set also?)

Out of interest what do you think of his all in on the river when he hits two pair??

Thanks again for your feedback.

Hello. I am new to posting here. Maybe its obvious but I don't play a lot and just want to check what you guys think of this hand played on pokerstars at 10NL.

Table is 6 handed.

Me (button): $4.76 -
Villain (UTG + 2): $9.30 - ? ?

Villain limps $0.10
Folds round to me
I raise to $0.30
Sb and Bb fold and villain calls $0.20

Pot is $0.75

Flop -      Two Diamonds

Villain checks
I bet $0.35
Villain calls $0.35
Pot is $1.45

Turn -

Villain checks
I bet $0.70
Villain calls

Pot is $2.85

River -

Villain instantly shoves $7.95

I have $3.41.. what do I do?

As I say maybe its an obvious fold... or he's flopped a monster? Can someone please enlighten me..

Thanks
