exactly the kind of hand I mean. A5 suited with 8000 chiips when blind are 800/1600 isn't a bad move if there's no-one else anywhere near as short. If not you've got maybe one more round at a push to find better that that.

I know what you mean, I've often been in this situation and had to try and squeeze into the money (see my posts on playing with a short bankroll) and usually make it to final as short stack rather than go out on the bubble. if there's one more to go before the money and you're last you're right to hold out as long as possible because two medium stacks could clash with big hands. you do have to draw a line somewhere though. I always say to myself I will not go below a full pot raise (7xSB) if I do first hand with ANY value (ie and Ace, two cards 10+, connectors suited or not) I make my move. if yu do it while you still have a full raise you're going to do some damage if someone calls and you win. You're going to be out on the bubble occassionally. someone has to be.
