I presume it was to give your opponent a chance by restricting yourself to only 10 easy questions. 9/10 is a great score in general knowledge. 

I did not (did I?) I chose Geography, proper man's subject, that.

It was my girlie opponent that chose foody questions.

Ah sorry so that was 9 out 15 (assuming you did not get any foodie questions right!). If you get me it will be History again from me so two proper man's subjects (will now be full of questions about suffragettes, Florence Nightingale etc)

I still object to question 1!!!!!!!, I think it's just going to cost me a place in next round, given I did not take the tie breaker seriously.

Still great quiz and like the slow reveal process it builds wonderful tension!

I thought they were effectively the same the thing is manifested by the other which represents it. A bit tricky to say without giving the answer away.

Gorbachev taking over in Russia - appeared to signal start of the end of the USSR and potentially a safer future

Cantona leaving old traffold - just in complete shock thought he would be there for years.

Diana - waking up hungover at a house party in cambridge and unable to find Rawhide on tv due to all these presenters dressed in black, took quite a while to work out what was going on.

Thatcher coming to power - first female PM etc

Obama coming to power - first African American President

9/11 - sat in a clients offices supposed to be working while everyone was listening to the radio and wondering what in the world was going on

Rolf Harris etc - just all those childhood memories being ripped apart and thinking that' s CD not going to be playing again.

July 7the Bombings - just felt like it could tear apart the country if it had carried on.

Great thread.

Love watching my kids play sport even if they are not always great at it, but its important for them to be getting outside etc in this day and age with all gadgets and tv channels.

On sunday will be watching my daughter play some fun cricket at the women's ashes match at Worcester. Great deal where she gets to play in a mini competition during the break and we get free tickets for the game. Only started playing this season but enjoys it.

Watching her going out to face a under twelve team (she is 10) who had already put one of our team on the way to hospital was a bit scary, but she seemed quite happy. (she was caught out first ball, but at least she went for the shot!)

Trust me, kids get at least as much benefit from losing as they do from winning.

You are completely right and as they get older it means I don't need to let them win when we play games, although maybe starting to do a lap of honour when I won a netball shooting match against my two kids and father in law was a bit OTT.
