No Idea on the Science, however, I seem to remember reading a science fiction book that had the space ships use the gravitational waves to fly around the universe (all though I could be delusional). It got me thinking that hopefully this breakthrough will lead to more money and resources being put into space exploration and that maybe in my kids lifetime we could actually have realistic prospects in space.

Massive congrats to the whole team, very well played, I was listening to the live stream, pretty much all sunday while completing the last of my clients tax returns!. I guess it could not have gone much better from a personal point of view as the three teams i was railing finished 4th, 2nd and 1st and the individual event was won by the founder of the BCPC Brian Yates. Hopefully next year it won't be on on the last weekend in January and I can attend.
All those interested in another team event BCPC have their annual team event in May this year, is great fun and run over 1 day, so will post up the details soon.

Always feel sad when a great artist passes, but this one has really shocked me. Turned the radio on this morning and they were playing one of his songs and immediately thought you can't be serious, hoped maybe it was a late tribute to his birthday, but no sadly not.
I was lucky enough to see him live many years ago and it ranks as one of my all time favourite gigs.
Very sad day.

I believe the draw is out for event, table 13 attracting the most attention.
Im on the infamous table 13, chock full of APAT legends. Good luck, will look forward to seeing you all down there, I will be the one who is hammered! I've a sneaky feeling you won't be the only one on that table hammered.

The Jonny Cash cover of Hurt is one of the all time great covers.
Other personal favs are Cake - I will survive (Just very plainly done but makes me smile everytime), The Damned - Help (rather fast but just what you would expect), The The - Hanky Panky (complete album of Hank Williams covers). And there was an album of Leonard Cohen covers called I'm your fan which had some great cover versions including First we take Manhattan by REM. and two different versions of Tower of Strength. Just looked at it on Amazon and came out in 1991 (damn that is a long time ago as I had it on tape!) bands featured include Pixies, That Petrol Emotion, House of Love, Lloyd Cole, Fatima Mansions, Nick Cave and of course John Cale doing Hallelujah.
Sorry no links as just useless at that bit

Many years ago I commuted from Carlisle to Newcastle on the train, about an hour plus walking to and from the train station, but used to read or sleep (do remember waking up on a completely empty train in Newcastle as every had left me sleeping!). Then there was a train strike so had to get the bus!!!. It stopped at every village on the way and I spent more time travelling than I did at work, on the plus side was cheap.
