To be fair it was Monday yesterday and that has a tendency to be a busy day back in the office, and also the day when I for one seem to have the least inspiration not sure why.
I see that the England Bridge Organisation is going to the High Court to over turn Sport England's decision to rule it not a sport.
According to the guy from Sport England if it is classified as a sport then it would be eligible for grants etc and would dilute the funding available for real sports which get people fit such as Archery and shooting (to be fair he may not have used those sports as examples).
Clearly if Bridge is allowed in then Poker would I believe by definition be in the same category.
Do Blonde members feel they should succeed or not?
How about putting a blonde team together for the BCPC team event for next year it will be at a Casino in Brum in Feb/March 2016, with team event on Saturday and a NLH/PLO mixed game on the Sunday I believe. Could be as part of a few regional get togethers?
Daughter (10) just got her dance results (tap and Jazz) today and got a merit and commendation. She does not have a natural build for a dancer (has my lack of flexibility) so had to work hard for these.
As a treat for passing she is making a Chocolate cake Happy days indeed. Will make up for Son's football team (minus son as he was at cub camp) losing their first game of the season and me getting soaked into the bargain.
Went to Dubrovnik well over 10 years ago for a wedding in the castle just outside the city walls, just remember it as a wonderful place to chill out, food was great (especially the sea food).
Remember one cafe which was inside the city walls on the sea side and you could sit effectively outside the walls (about halfway up) looking at the sea.
Was quite easy to get boat trips out to the islands, and had a coach trip along the coast (through Bosnia).
it was basically a lovely place to chill out for a few days.
Was just checking out the bbc cricket updates and someone had put a picture of Hale and Pace on there (something to do with Hayles not liking pace) and the first thing that came into my head was the cat in the microwave joke, almost 30 years ago but still such a vivid memory.
Not sure how to post the link to you tube (maybe an expert can fix it) but just hilarious especially if you consider the lack of alternative channels at the time and how different this was (at least to the young me).
Anyone else got jokes etc that just stick in your head.
I think one of the problems is that the next generation of poker players don't look to far past facebook/youtube etc.
I keep seeing story's that poker is in decline and guess that must be true at certain levels. However, I play in a local pub once a week and we have had upto 25 players at times and they play most days of the week now. The majority of the players are young (early 20's or younger) and hardly any have been to a casino to play, which means that potentially at the moment this forum probably has little to offer as they are unlikely to play the big tournaments and cannot easily get to DTD.
As a rec player (who does not get to casino's all that often), late reg upto first break makes perfect sense, as it is generally an hour or so trip to casino and with kids etc can often be late.
Don't really like re-entry as does encourage some people to call light etc. Having said that any Rec player is always going to be at a disadvantage anyway as the regulars know they can enter the next comp, or the one after if they get knocked out. Whereas the rec may not get back for a month and therefore this is their one big game so can you really make that hero call for all your chips!.
However, at the end of the day we need the casino's to continue to put the games on and therefore we have to accept the conditions, most players would have a choice of a few casino's at the moment and therefore you pick the game that you prefer.
