Boyd's strike was akin to a mediocre poker player somehow luckboxing their way to the Roller one week; he won't hit a ball like that again, just like the mediocre Roller winner won't ever get close to a similar result!

I believe that's our first defeat at Burnley since Maxally was a strapping young teen, 1974 Sad fully deserved for your boys though, puts us out of our title misery and could be the final nail in MP's coffin.

Better stay up now! Want to see the southern teams drop down, fixtures like Turf Moor will hopefully be an annual event.

Enjoy Malta Smiley

I hope, for your sake, that magpie has warned off some bad luck at Turf Moor later Wink

All the best for the season, just not today!

People go to Vegas and drink tea?!

Though it is amusing seeing just how difficult it is to get a good cup. I hate the stuff so not a problem I'll ever face Smiley

I appreciate I'm probably coming across like a broken record, but if people are looking to get to Vegas and back as cheap as possible for some/all of the WSOP, there are some very competitive prices going from Dublin at the moment.

Just put a random date in (28th May - 2nd July) and there are a range of flights and airlines starting from £372 return. That £372 fare is particularly good, as it uses the Virgin Atlantic service.

If any Blondes want me to have a look for anything then just yell on here, or send me a PM. I have plenty of time on my hands at the moment Wink

Norwegian have one ways from London - LAX for £269 on a couple of dates at the end of May.

If you don't mind going to Scandy first, you can get a one way Stockholm - LAX for £125 on 19 and 21st May, or £141 on the 26th. From Oslo, you can go on the 27th May or 3rd June for £133.

Bear in mind that Norwegian are essentially a low cost long haul operator, so add £50 to any fare for a bag, food and seat selection. But they do use the Dreamliner, which is a fine piece of aircraft.

Tikay, plane talk, you don't want to miss out Wink

Oh, and obvs you'll have to factor in the price of a one way from LAX - LV of course Smiley

Thanks for the answers, chaps. My order of relevance for the hotel:

1. Near to airport (getting there on the night and then walk/short taxi ride in the morning);
2. Near somewhere to eat (pub grub fine);
3. Suitable to start a holiday at;
4. Price

They're all relevant but they're in that order for one night.

You really can't go wrong with the Radisson at Terminal 2 then. Doesn't get more convenient, decent food in the bar/restaurant on site, free Wi-Fi. Just a very comfortable start for any holiday. Says on their site that rooms start at £93 per night. I'm sure my ex paid a fair bit more than that when we stayed there, what a shame Wink

2437  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Vegas Trip Information for anyone looking to go this year. on: March 08, 2015, 04:27:58 PM
The Radisson at Manchester airport is about as convenient as it gets. On site at terminal 2, roll out of bed and into departures. It's not particularly cheap, think the one time I stayed there it was £120 ish.

Staying in Manchester c/c is easy enough though, with trains leaving for the airport every 15 mins. The Premier Inn on Dale St is just 2 mins from the station, think their rooms start at about £35 so cheap and cheerful. Just opposite that, if you want something a bit more stylish, is a complex called The Place. More like an apart-hotel or w/e you call them. Stayed there pre Cuba a couple of years ago, very nice with loads of space being more an apartment than just your average hotel room. Prices for that seem to hover around the £80 mark, and again only round the corner from Piccaddilly.

For the person asking about skipping a Dublin leg and just turning up at London for the flight, NEVER do this. You are classed as a no show at Dublin and all subsequent sectors are cancelled. You can cheat this coming back; In September I went Dublin - Chicago - Vegas.....Vegas - London - Dublin, but as I only had hand luggage (was just a flying visit to Vegas sadly and didn't need a case), I basically left at Gatwick for a pre booked train back ooop norf and sacked off the final leg to Ireland. But never do this going out, unless you hate money!

I feel the need to point something out for the lowrollers here. This doesnt apply to those who are balla.

It concerns flights.  This will mainly be beneficial to those who live up North.

You can save serious amounts of money by starting your journey in Dublin.

As an example, I have just gone to the BA site and plugged in an economy return, for one person, leaving 22nd September and returning 2 weeks later, flying from Manchester Airport. I have specifically chosen this date as it is a random midweek day when the kids are back in school. My route will be Manchester - London then London - Vegas. The cheapest flight leaves Manchester at 6.45am and I have an 8hr wait in London outbound. This costs £750, which is about right for a direct flight from London itself.

NOW...I go to Kayak.co.uk. I specifically ask for a Multi-City flight, leaving Dublin to Vegas on the same dates as above, and returning from Vegas to Manchester. I then filter out all the other connecting cities except for London.

My flight leaves Dublin at 1pm, lands at Heathrow at 2.20pm and we're on the same flight to Vegas as above. My return flights are also the same as the ones quoted by BA. Total cost of flight? £565.

So I've saved myself £185 just by flying from Dublin. But...how do I get to Dublin? That's easy.

If you book well in advance for Vegas - wait for Ryanair's £9.99 sale. Add on one hold bag for £25 and you've spent £35 going to Dublin. Flight leaves Manchester at 7.50am and lands at Dublin at 8.50am. You leave slightly later than you would if you were flying BA and you've saved £150. That's a buyin for a cash game or a couple of tourneys.

Well worth it IMO.

This is very solid advice and something I always look at before committing to any deal. In the 3 times I've been to Vegas, twice the journey has started in Dublin and I've saved hundreds. Myself and a friend are going again at the end of May. We decided to splurge when we saw the BA biz class sale at the turn of the year; we got return Biz class flights (Dublin - Heathrow- LV and again in reverse), and a week at Monte Carlo for about £1300pp. Had we just bought the direct flights from London, they were north of 2k each. I'm not sure why the savings from Dublin can be so substantial, but I'm glad they are Smiley Only had to put down a small deposit to secure the deal too, alas my credit card will be taking the hit in the coming weeks to pay it off.

It's probably the only time in my life I'll fly in biz class (unless I can bink this Colossus WSOP event!) so I intend to make the most of it. Only regret was that we hesitated for a couple of days, and in that time BA had removed the 'no resort fee' offer, so that could have saved us even more $$$ over the course of 7 nights.

I don't get the reactions to this at all. Everyone seems to have just fallen in line in accepting that they kept the guy off the train because he was black. Why do you assume that? There is no evidence that that was the reason. The guy who filmed it said that they had already prevented people from getting on and he had decided to wait for another train. Then the black guy came along. Is everyone assuming that they would have made room if he was white?

I think their aggressive behaviour was unacceptable (though I have seen worse) and would have been threatening to anyone, black, white or otherwise, but I didn't see them do anything that was specifically racist.

Hmmmm, I suppose forcibly shoving a black guy off the train, then chanting about how racist they are......yep, can't see why people think this was a racist incident.

Things like this footage really piss me off. I try to get abroad at least once a season to see my beloved Man City on the continent. On every trip, it's clear that Europe still views most/all English football fans as hooligans. From an absurd amount of riot police in Poznan, to the 'batons out, hit first ask questions later' actions of the Spanish police in Madrid. And this kind of footage that surfaced today does us travelling fans no favours whatsoever.

Hope the morons involved are identified and dealt with accordingly.

Agoda and booking.com are the 2 places I usually look at and book through for asia. They are better for finding smaller independant locally owned hotels than expedia, these types of hotels are often cheaper too. July in most of asia is low season, so you won't need book to book everything in advance (there is never a problem finding accommodation in that part of the world apart from 2 or 3 weeks over xmas and new year anyway), you could easily just book somewhere for a couple of nights and either extend when you are there or move if you find somewhere better.

Whilst this is mostly true, July is pretty much high season for Bali, cos all the Aussies flock here to escape their winter.

Got robbed there in 2010, in my backpacking days, they got my phone and about £200. My own fault for carrying such a large amount on me after having (quite) a few beers.

Stayed near Kuta beach, in like a 2 storey chalet hut type thing. Cost a whopping £8 a night Wink and was nice to have my own space after months of hostels.

I regrettably didn't see anywhere near as much as I should have; it was my last week before flying back to Blighty and so treated it as a holiday and spent my days doing fuck all down the beach. Sea was like a bath, and the waves were huge.

Loads of Aussies, as it's their version of Ibiza/Benidrom/Magaluf. Depsite this, would go back tomorrow.

Any reads on the older guy? Is he super tight?

I'm gonna guess no.....''Just sat down on £1/£2 table''.

Agree that 70bb is a tad awkward in stack sizing. Did you give any indication to the table when sitting that you might be inclined to spin your stack? Sitting down with that amount makes you appear to be there to 'gamble', so perhaps GII pre flop will cement that perceived image and maybe get you action from a range wider than usual...

They have a low stakes  9 handed mtt on a friday night.

Its part of a monthly community competition run by some of the forum regs.

It's 10 handed, Teddy Wink

Yeah, during the UKOPs festival they sometimes chuck in a full ring tournament. Or sometimes they have a 3max tournament, and that blows the software apart.

Hey!

Pre flop I would raise a bit bigger about 1200-1350.

As played, it's a really wet board, i'd be raising a bit bigger on the flop, the pot is 2.3k?

Would make it about 1500 and get value from a lot of worse. I expect he's calling the vast majority of the time.

On the turn, he doesn't have many 7's here at all and we have the back up of the nut D draw, betting this for sure.

When he re-raises you OTT, it's either going to be a flush or a boat or quads, this is hardly ever going to be a bluff.

Think we still have to call though, 2 see what he does on the river.

When the comes in and he bets the river, We have , on the board. A lot of his flushes i'd expect to have KdQd etc. He still fires out on the river, which I don't expect him to do with a turned flush. The way it's played out it looks more like a flopped set as opposed to turned flush.

So you think we're beat, but you still call the raise to ''see what he does on the river''?

OP, 150bb effective stack so raise more pre, doesn't have be tons more as we have position but we can eek out more value pre.
Bet slightly more on the flop.
Check back the turn.

A few hands from tonight (various bounty hunter MTTs).

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Hand 1

Blinds 300/600. We have 16k. Villian has 11k.

He opens button, to 1.2k, we defend bb with   (sb has folded). Pot = 2.7k.

Flop;      . We Check, he bets 1.8k, pot is 4.5k, he has just over 8k left. We jam he folds. *No real reads.

Hand 2

This is quite interesting pre, probs should be a fold? Blind on blind battle. We are in the BB with  Two Diamonds .

At the start of the hand Villian has 17kish, we have 19kish.

SB min raises, we defend? Blinds are 600/1.2k.  Pot is 4.8k.

Flop   .

He bets big, 3.6k, with 11250 behind, I move all in. Ok, he can't or shouldn't really be folding here. Gamboool?

Hand 3

This one is quite interesting. Blind v Blind battle again.

SB is a serial limper, which has a big impact on my river decision. I felt it was an easy fold at the time.

Blinds 300/600. We have 20k Villian has 12k at the start of the hand.

SB makes up extra 300, and I check?? I used to always raise here the vast majority of the time, I've started checking here sometimes.

. Should this be a raise 100% of the time?

Pot 1200. Flop,    three clubs  . Check, bet 600, call (pot 2400) Turn  . Check, bet 1654. Call. (5708).

River  . Villian moves all in for 9848. We fold.

Prob a trivial fold, but just really interesting he does this massive over bet in my experience he has atleast 2 pair here. But interesting!

Big mistake might be not raising pre. fwiw, if he checks we are value betting the river, like 35-40% pot.

Hand one is very standard stuff.

Hand 2 is woeful IMO. Probs have to go with it after flopping as well as we could hope, but it really should be in the bin. Such an awful hand to defend with, and the stack sizes involved don't give much, if any, leeway for playing down a single street, let alone 3.

Hand 3...villain is only playing 20bb so would like to apply some pressure pre, with position and a decent hand HU. As played, the bet on the flop is kinda pointless after not raising pre. Easy fold on the river, this is just hardly ever a bluff (or worse 'value' hand) in a Sky BH.
