So you don't adjust your raise sizing according to your table position and where the initial raise has come from?
2447  Poker Forums / Diaries and Blogs / Re: 2015 on: January 17, 2015, 01:51:28 PM
FT Bubble (98 players started). 7 left. 3 Handed. Other table 4 handed.

Blinds 600/1200. We have 25k at start of the hand in the BB.

SB Raises to 4200,they have us covered.

We have

We jam.

There is only 1 player that was reasonabley short. And they've just doubled to 20k.

Reads, the player is doing this with any Ace X pocket pair etc, they are not folding - they've never raised like 3x or over, and folded, but their holdings have always been pretty poor raggy aces, pocket pairs.

Just standard I have to get this in here. Lost to 77.

Thanks for that insight Wink

Don't like the effective clickback with KK. And villain almost never has 10s or .

I flew with US Airways once and it was the last time I ever took a 1 stop flight. The planes were fecking awful, smallest seating and most basic out of all I have flown on and service was terrible. They were that bad that if given the choice of them or not going I would rather stay at home

Ha, I've yet to have the pleasure of flying with them, but having flown with United, Continental and American Airlines in recent years, US carriers do not compare to European carriers...and the European carriers lag behind the Middle East/Asian airlines!

FWIW to OP there are other options from Dublin that avoid using US Airways, but I think they code share with BA these days so can be hard to avoid them on certain routes.

Hi, no idea where you're based in the UK, but if Manchester airport is convenient enough for your group, Thomas Cook have a direct return in May (12th-17th, Tues-Sun) for £656pp.

Edit- if you want to bring the cost of the flights right down, fly from Dublin. You can get a return on the same dates as above for £418pp with US Airways. Factor in maybe another £50pp for your return flight to Dublin, though Ryanair often do £9.99 each way fares.

You might see it as hassle having to go to Dublin first, but look at the positives...you could spend a night there to kick off the stag do, and what a place Dublin is for a night out. The flight to Vegas is a one stop job, but the connections are pretty swift. And you'll arrive in Vegas as a domestic passenger and avoid US customs, which can be very tedious!

Edit again Smiley - Luxor is £370 on those dates, for a pyramid 2 Queen beds room thing. So my abacus makes that £185pp...add that to the £418 flights and its 600 quid pp give or take. Leaves plenty in the 1kpp kitty for a hotel in Dublin and the return flights...you could even keep that aspect of the trip a surprise from the stag! Smiley
2450  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Vegas Trip Information for anyone looking to go this year. on: January 06, 2015, 04:51:07 AM
Does anyone know of any websites that let you search for vegas packages more than 12months in advance? Say about February/march next year? All the ones I've looked at so far only go about 11-12months in advance

Flight schedules usually only go up to a year in advance I'm afraid. Might have to twiddle your thumbs for a few weeks before it all becomes bookable.

Could be worth looking at hotels now for around when you wanna go. Say for example Expedia have a good deal on a hotel you wanted for 1st week of Feb, then chances are it will still be on offer when the flights are also released soon..... solid preparation could save you a bit of time/money.

Can you explain why you bet 1k on the river in hand 2, when you say ''he's never folding an ace''?

Not keen on a single street on hand 2 in all honesty.

Ah got a feeling about this!

Look forward to seeing all the hand histories you put up. I'd probably drop the £5 BH's altogether if you really want to take your game up a notch. Get in the mains, gotta be in them to win them. 4/7 mains every week are bounty hunters so if that's your favourite form of tournament play you should be looking to nail them.
2453  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Is this a fold? ICM rookie question on: December 31, 2014, 01:54:04 PM
ICM Wise, it may well be a fold.

There was a similar example posted on sky a while ago with AK, it was the FT of the Sunday Night Primo. The action was probs more standard as in normal size raise/ 3 bet with AK, 4 bet Jam, which was called, other guy had QQ, winning in the flip, both players had very decent stacks 5/6 handed on the FT.

Despite the ICM consideration I would be gambling here to get a stack. Especially considering it's a turbo and when the blinds go up again we might only have 12/13 bigs or whatever.

The only reason I would fold is if I had a solid read that massive raises 4x 5x = AA or KK. Sometimes this raise size from this type of player is exactly that. Othertimes, it can be hands like 77-88, AQ AJ, they just think I have an ok hand and don't want any callers better raise massive to make them fold.

The 5 x is really interesting tho for sure.

If you're gonna mention the hand from the Sky Roller then at least get the details right. as they are quite important; it was raised UTG, and 3bet jammed from a 40bb stack holding QQ.....the action was then on the chip leader in the blinds playing about 50bb and had AKo. The guy posted the hand cos it was quite an unusual spot, and certainly a very tricky situation.

As the gentleman said before me, if you want to start ''crushing'' tournaments next year, you need to get a decent grasp of ICM.

Yeah in the cockpit of any aircraft with retractable gear you have 3 lights, if they are off the gear is stowed and locked, red they are in transit, green they are down and locked.

As you can see in that pic the right wing strut isn't extending hence when it is on the ground it is not level. Luckily the fuselage strut came down so could support it, obviously if both had failed on one side you have a rather awkward problem.

How 'easy' would a landing have been if both had failed, or say all of the landing gear was stuck and wouldn't come down?  Obviously, it wouldn't have been a standard landing, but they can land these things even under exceptional circumstances - can't they?

A plane landed on its 'belly' a few years ago in Warsaw. IIRC it's landing gears were jammed, it circled for a while to try and resolve the issue (and probably dump fuel) but no joy, and they had to touch down without wheels. Think the plane had come from New York as well, so the pilots did remarkably well after a long flight and under extreme pressure conditions.

I haven't misquoted anything, it's all there in black and white for all to see. If you meant something different, you might want to look at wording things better next time. If you mean insignificant in relation to whats up top then you should make that clear. Though again, it's all relative.

Playing for first doesn't necessarily mean going gung ho with everything strong on a FT. A more subtle approach in certain spots might sometimes be required. I don't think this is as clear a GII and be happy decision as you seem to think it is. There are definite ICM considerations with 2 micro stacks. Laddering on a FT can be a fine art as well, so no, although we want to win obviously, we are not basing every decision on whether we want to finish first or not. There are shades of grey.

And please look up the meaning of the word 'troll'.

We are playing for 1st everytime. The money from 9th-4th, probs even 3rd, will be pretty insignificant. And this is a great spot to really build up some chips.

Incredibly arrogant thing to say. What might be insignificant to you could be a big bankroll boost for someone else.

I think we can (just about) fold this. Not often I'd say that about big slick on a FT! Wouldn't object to you going for it, but looks like you're getting looked up in 2 spots and AKo shrinks a bit 3 way.

Table dynamic (which we're not privy too) might dictate it to be a jam though. The fact its a 5x open AND call might make it an auto all in Smiley

I'm always on my best behaviour Tony Smiley I'd been lurking for ages, but a hand I saw posted on PHA tipped me over the edge into actually joining.

Sheer fluke, I land in Vegas on the 29th May, so can hop into the Saturday starting flight for this $565 jobby, run like Bates and take the fucker down.

Gonna have to pardon my ignorance, but I've never played a WSOP event....the comments about the starting stack being boosted to 100bb surprised me. Do your standard WSOP events like the $1000's and $1500's start pretty shallow? Appreciate the levels are longer to offset this somewhat.
