Ever so difficult to form sensible thoughts about this unless you are actually part of the community affected. On the face of it is terrible and the same as any other racism - unacceptable.
In our town recently, all the pubs closed on the day of a Gypsy funeral. That's a pretty poor reflection on the community as a whole. I'm not sure it's crazy or particularly discriminatory for a resident to take the view that the status quo is preferable to a traveller site being located nearby.
It's also hard to equate this form of (I don't know what to call it - site I suppose) to any other distinct group of people. Can't imagine the creation of a specifically African site or Asian site outside of any town in the UK. So the nearest equivalent I can think of is the development of a religious site. These are regularly brought forward for approval and objections raised.
This issue is really not about boats etc, it's just about being allowed to express yourself.
I tend to a more absolutist free speech perspective so perfectly OK for Linker to say what he wants - even if it was anti refugee in my opinion - and can't believe the BBC have turned it into a cause celebre.

Boat crossings and people trafficking are a blight and should be stopped for the good of all - not sure the solutions we try to find are humane, creative or really designed to solve the issue and pretty clear the Tories will never solve the issue. Look, it was an awful performance that led to an awful defeat. Liverpool deserved their win. Not sure they were actually worthy of the margin, but meh every snap shot went in yesterday. xG was about 3.5.
Two games against Betis with Southampton in-between and then Fulham in the Cup before the international break. Three points plus progress in the two cups is the target, would you bet against them?
