Hi Tony,
We've put a hold on the "when" part of the trip, as we aren't fans of vouchers and then having to pay any revised extra costs; we continue looking at the wheres' and how, but to be honest Sue's mum is having a rough time with her health at the moment, so even that is taking a back seat.
I finally retire at the end of the month and fully convert into an OAT: Old Age Teenager when I will complete my " I wished I had done that when I was younger, but my 8th decade will have to do"
Things on the agenda are:
Wing walking Getting on a TV quiz rogramme. Couch to 5k A small Tattoo At least 50 urban rambles(code name for afternoon pub crawls) in different parts of the country during the next 12 months, praise given to our free bus passes. Oh, and just in case Sue reads this, I'll spend more time with our family.............

As a lot of us do, we log on with some anticipation, first looking at how many pages this epic tome has grown to, and then click to see if the Godfather of Poker has been at work. Well this morning I want to know if this is a Covid-19 record, as 13 other like minnded soles were sat around the country waiting for the next eagerly awaited post.............

Morning All, Like Tony I've become hermitised during the lockdown, and as I still work in the food industry the past 3 months has been manic trying to keep up with retailers demand, same %'s as poker. Sue and the kids badly missed our Sunday night live game with upto 20 Vegas nuts in a local pub, but we quickly migrated to a Home Game on Stars, and the acidic chatroom banter on Discord. Any of you guys railing this years WSOP? https://www.wsop.com/tournaments/updates/Cheere Dave & Sue

Even by my standards, this will have very limited interest to most, but here's two super galleries of photographs from Hull Docks back in the 1950's. And yes, I really did type that. Hull Docks. 1950's. Each to their own, eh? There is some crossover between the two galleries, but no matter, you'll either love them or yawn. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/business/gallery/history-of-hull-docks-pictures-2179319Hi Tony, As you may know I was a Hull lad before the move to exotic Grimsby, and being born less than a mile from the docks in the early 50's, those photo's (or from Hull we say 4Toes) unlocked quite a few memories: The biggest being the Black Market that was the rife in those days, and at it's height in the 60's, it had gone from buying what was on offer, to telling the Spivs what you wanted and it would arrive within a week or two. Don't get me started on the Fish Dock. Cheers Dave https://www.inportstories.com/galleryOh what days they were. Click to see full-size image. | Click to see full-size image. |

Hello Everyone,
Did I miss the memo? the one about this blog was having a Dry January? Now I know I'm a bit of a mute Blonde bibliophile, but surely there are some anecdotes of times gone by, funny stories; even comments about all the Brexit parties people will surely be having tomorrow night.
Reading and even writing is a great endorphin producing process, so the catalyst for all of us to come here to read and contribute needs to buy a SAD Light to combate the worst desease of us Old Fogeys - CBA.
This is from a guy who lives in Grimsby, so cheer me up everyone.

Morning Tony,
Great verbiage as always, the expansive ramblings is what we stakers love; the highs, the lows and most of all your ability to bring happiness into our humdrum lives. Have I started on the sherbets early today, yes I have as we've a couple of weeks of Scoopio to come, I thought I'd celebrate.

Morning Alll,
I've been away for a few days, and came back expecting insightful banter about drones and the authorities; Bonkers Brexit chatter and maybe the ocassional Festive iirony; but no, nothing.
Have I missed a memo, have we gone mute for Xmas?
Well I for one will be raising a glass (or four) to you all, and especially Tony for adding colour, humour, sarcasm in equal measures to my mundane existance.
Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Dave & Sue
