Nice one. That's impressive.  It's also great to see something that's free for people to do.

Hello mate. Yep I'm doing well, thanks. Hope things are going well for you too. Oops, I posted in the wrong section. Sorry about that.

I've had my eye on one of these for a while. Today while picking up a few things on my way home, I noticed a soup maker in the reduced section of ASDA. It was surrounded by Justin Bieber books and cycling spandex kits. I felt sorry for it to be honest and decided there and then to offer it a new home. As soon as I showed my interest it jumped straight into my trolley.

We made our way round to the vege section and picked up a bunch of reduced veggies. Once home I introduced the young fella to the kettle, slow cooker, steamer, toaster, blender and microwave. I decided to put him to work straight away. He happily flashed his led's and got ready to do some cooking.

Once the setting for smooth soup had been selected and the vegetables had been added he sprung into action puffing and spluttering away. 21 minutes later some delicious thick potato and parsnip soup was waiting to be eaten. After a bath in the sink he's now fast asleep in the kitchen. It's been an exhausting day for him.

I've been watching Sailing La Vagabond for a while. Great series. I also watch a guy called Spud Fit. He's a 30 something guy who's lost 50kgs in 9 months eating only potatoes. Really entertaining.

Reading this thread about toasters has just inspired me to order a new one online.  Since the same date Vettel won his last F1 title ( 2013? ) my toaster has required me to hold it down to toast bread. The spring is broken that lights up the heating elements. It broke while I watched Vettel win his last title on tv during that race.

My kettle has the same problem with the switch and I need to hold that down as well. A few times it's knocked off the trip switch on the fuse box when I've held it down to boil some water.

After reading this thread I went online and ordered a brand new kettle and toaster from Tesco online. Call me a cheap skate but up until now I never felt the need to replace them. I believe in getting my money's worth from a purchase.  I am looking forward to my purchases arriving in the next few days.  I got both for the total price of £25 so I think I did well .  The toaster isn't a 4 slice one though, its a basic 2 slice type. Where I live I will be the envy of all my neighbours. Most of them don't own fancy things like toasters.

Haha,  I retired from plumbing. I did help my friend do some electrics recently. It's probably something I wont try again as I normally have difficulty even putting on a plug.

I actually know a family who stayed in Sark for over a year back in the late 90's. Back then the Island didn't allow cars. I am not sure if that's still the case.  I think it would be great staying on an Island with around 500 people and no cars . I suspect the broadband isn't very good there.   Best wishes to you are well Tikay

I just looked at Sark on Wikipedia . The island doesn't even allow any mechanical ambulances "The Sark Ambulance Service operates two tractor-drawn ambulances"

Although I don't post here as often as I once did, I still spend a chunk of time reading other people's posts each month.  After searching for an old thread earlier today, I realised it will soon be 10 years since I registered on the blonde forum.

I began playing online in Novemeber 2005 a few months before joining blonde. Back then I had big dreams of replacing JohnnyBax as the number 1 ranked player in the world or one day reaching the biggest games available and battling it out at $10/20 NL with H@££InGoll on Stars or Clubber on Tribecca. I never got close to any of these goals.

Over the years many superstars have come and gone at the online tables. Guys like  Nebuchad crushed then retired. Chad Battista was another. Even on Blonde most of the names from 10 years ago have either disappeared or no longer post. The game is also controlled more by tracking software than it was in 2005.

Blonde has been a part of my poker journey and I have spent literally hours reading posts on this forum. My passion also vanished for playing poker for a few years, however it is back stronger than it ever was. By 2025 perhaps I will achieve my goal of playing the big games. By then the kids playing  will be 18, have cybernetic implants in their brains and the lowest stakes available will be $200/400 and be listed under the microstakes tab. Victor Bloom will be the owner of Poker stars.

Inside poker, there were a lot of mags back then. I also remember Inside Edge from years ago . I bought it long before I even knew about online poker.

I agree, print newspapers hold my attention much more. I feel sorry for kids who over the next 10 years will most likely lose the excitement of reading comics they can actually hold. Like I said above, comic day was one of my favourite days as a kid. The beano, Dandy, The Eagle and then 2000AD. After comics my love of magazines followed. Now it is mostly digital.

Thanks Alan, I will have a look at that

I remember that magazine as well Tony, I enjoyed reading it.  I guess when a company like pokerstars reduces advertising in print, it becomes difficult to keep things running like before.

Haha, Tom.  Great story .

I love the internet and spend hours using it everyday.  However, I still prefer print magazines and books. So far, I still haven't warmed to ebooks. There is nothing like actually holding a real book when traveling on a bus or relaxing on the couch.  Recently I was chatting to a few of the staff in our local library. One of them said some days hardly any customers come into look at the books. I must admit that had been the first time going into that library in about two years myself, I used to go twice per week for years. Nowadays if you want to know something it is less than 30 seconds away with a few clicks off the keyboard.

It seems sad.

Haha, you saved money doing it that way as well.  I always had to search for it in my WH Smith, however I could usually find it.  One problem for some people buying it from my store was the dates often being months behind. I remember buying a copy with Devilfish on the cover years ago that was actually about 3 months older than the current issue in the Glasgow shop. I guess as it was a poker magazine, few people in the store really understood what they were selling anyway.
