Cheers guys

Earlier I had a major worry that the threads chickens may have been Xmas dinner!

Pleased to report positive sighting of at least one, working on photo recognition!

Today we play sober which is a negative. Spent £100 on cider yesterday so need 8th to cover my costs lol

Successfully dusted off Micks £20 on stars so that's a good job done Smiley

The casinos cider leaves a lot to be desired, although probably responsible for me actually making day 2

Ashley tightens his grip at Ibrox - Llambias installed as new Chief Exec - Dennis Wise next please.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30545231

Why do you keep going on about Wise?  I havent followed his career closely at all but with a quick search, his managerial record doesnt seems pretty good and whatever happened with his upstairs role at Newcastle seemed to be more to do with internal politics than his actual ability to do the job.

Are you just assuming he will be terrible because he has some sort of friendship with Ashley or is there something from his post-playing career that Im missing?

his managerial record seems quite good*

The buying in process shouldnt have been so bad if you were prepared in advance.  If you have a Hippodrome card and a PS Live card, you could show up to the venue and buy in through PS account funds or debit card and then get an immediate seat.

I also like when its not in a casino as I can show up in shorts if I want to.  Doesnt Luton require you to wear shoes?
145  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: A Taxing debate on: September 24, 2014, 02:35:54 PM
Felix has lived in london before he entered the tournament fyi.

Also you remember Peter Eastgate's tax situation? He moved to london AFTER he finaled the main event then claimed because he was a UK resident he wasn't liable to pay Norwegian taxes, however it was eventually ruled that because he was a resident of Norway when he entered the tournament (when the "wager" was placed he was made to pay nearly 75% of the $9.1m

I mean, that is a stupid law, charging 75% tax.

But Peter knew the law when he entered the tournament and trying to weasel out of paying his share of tax after he's reached the final is attempting to tax dodge pure and simple.

If his house got robbed, would he call the police? If he broke his leg would he go to hospital? Does he put his rubbish out to be collected? Etc etc and etc.

People with a lot of cash pay more than skint members. That's the way it works.

I think a pro poker player who cops $10 million should pay a large % of it in in tax. (Although 75% is a bit toppy!)

This is completely ridiculous!

Why?

Everyone else pays tax, why shouldn't we?

Why should the government just randomly get a large % of a big score in tax.  The player took all the risk, if the player lost the government doesnt give them some of their buyin back so why should they freeroll a % of it?

Its not that Im against paying tax exactly (although Id rather not) but why should a player be taxed more than the average person if they strike it lucky one time?  Just seems like pure greed by the government.  The greed of the government is the reason why American has no online poker (which affects poker players around the world), the greed of the French government is the reason why the French have to play on separate sites and now the greed of the UK government is the reason why UK players wont be able to play on those French sites anymore.  They seem quite happy to screw with the livlihoods of professional poker players/gamblers in the short term so that they can rinse them for as much as they can long term.  Disgrace!

Are you paying any income tax Keith?  If you feel so strongly about it Id imagine you're paying some voluntarily

Bad news guys, busted with 20 mins left in the day ripping KK over an open for my last 15bbs and getting it in V AA

Bit of a disaster day, early in the day I peel a squeeze oop with QQ and get the AQ9 flop but he backdoor 4flushed with K7o and we lose some.  We hover around 25k for a while before going on an annoying run where I run into 4 sets within 2 orbits (2 of them Im 3bettor) where I have 2x overpairs, a top pair and a combodraw that bricked.  Find myself down to 3800 at 200/400 and getting 99 in v Q8hh for the double.

Table was fairly tough, didnt know anyone but everyone was playing fairly decent and aggro, after the double with 99 managed to swing a great table move and grind it back to over 18k at 500BB before chipping down and getting the KK in v AA.  Really disappointed overall, just caught zero breaks despite grinding hard all day after losing the big flip in the 2k.  Thanks to everyone that bought a piece and sorry I couldnt give a return Sad
149  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Staking / Re: Ept Barcelona main + Estrellas High Roller package on: August 20, 2014, 06:37:38 PM
Busted Estrellas HR today. Had some reg problems that I'm pretty mad with stars for. It I got in as an alternate start of level 2 so all good. Table was a little reggy but the tourney was pretty huge. Got short early but doubled back to setting with JJ>AQ all in pre. Then doubled AQ>TT all in pre to get above starting stack. Won a few pots but the. Got 77 in v 88 for 20bbs in a spot I'm not 100% sure of :/ couple of hands later got 15bbs in with QQ v AK to GG

I'm considering changing my EPT starting day to tomorrow. Will keep you all updated if I decide to change

Fraser B has 5% of HR and 10% of EPT main.
