u got to call here also h2h any A is massive esp with your chip advange you want to take the shot while he is short not let him nick more chips next time u get a hand to call with it will cost your more and more if u pass this one up,  imo i also call here with any K  he is most likely pushing with any connector or any suited cards,  and if you take the shot now you still have a chip advantage and can play proper poker as it is its only ever going to be all-in pre,   i dont agree with the post push from the sb with any 2 what if u get 29 or something simlar ? still push ? lol

In poker, you dont always put your opponents on the one hand that is worst for you.. im not gonna structure my betting to assume 100% that he has a flush or straight draw, he also has pairs here, and i dont want to push him out the pot with everything he might hold... thats a fantastic way to minimize your equity in these spots.

but to do that you have to have some kind of a clue what the guy has or what hands he is likely to play in that situiation you carnt just hope he hasnt got it you got to see what hand he has and the best way of doing that givein the info u gave is his betting pattern   what your basicly saying is if im beat f** it if thats the case why bother to post?  if your sticking your money in no matter what why ask ?

you seem to be praying you got the best hand its to scarey a board to do that on sure on the flop your strong but u havent got the nutz on the turn u need to get in cheap to the river and make the pot as small as possible not as big as possible

thats just my view,  stu

hand 1: i agree with boldie why are you even asking the question here? you raise to $33 with a building hand then get re-raised and are asking what would you do there isnt even a question here its obvious

hand 2: pre-flop is fair enough play on the flop your betting less than half the pot giveing the flush/strait draw the odds to call you when the flush comes on the turn your actually think you are trapping him? and the strait comes on the river   you got to fold here your only ahead of a complete idiot, he could well of made the nut flush on the turn and giveing you a chance to hit something or have 89 here and scrared of the flush

both hands i dont really think you got a question  the 1st def  the 2nd you played it wrong i figure you realize that otherwise why post?  we all learn by our mistakes and as i said yours was giveing him odds to hit if you bet 300 here and he has a flush/strait draw gl to him  we bet 180 here remembering he raised to 33 and we reraised 130 so there is at least 326 + the change in the pot as i said above im done with the hand on the turn not looking to trap the guy im looking to get a free river to fill up here

65  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: two hands from a deepstack stt on: March 23, 2007, 10:01:10 AM
1st hand : i flat call here also i want to see a spade on the turn is the dream card if the next cards comes wacky  something around a 10 that you would limp with then take it slower but you have flopped a big hand here with 2 of you in you got to maxmize this esp in a stt format where you need everychip

2nd hand : i got to ask the utg+1 does he play live often and does he know the normall thing to do with an all-in player? if he does we got to flat call AND check the turn we want to knock a player out and if you raise and you miss and utg+1 would of won then you have just made the comp harder for yourself, the player all-in makes a huge diffrence to how i play this hand

without the player all-in i may well still flat call but im not passing the hand and hope he bets on the turn and leaves himself enough to pass to a re-raise we got a big draw and a chance to get alot of chips if he calls we still got plently of outs he could well be betting 2nd pair and pass on the turn but we pick up an extra few k here

well all can i say is we all live and die by our reads we all have faith in them rightly or wrongly and some of us are better at it than others, in order to win a comp like this that is the hand that makes you or breaks you but that is the same in any comp sooner or later you will be all-in with a strong hand agaist a draw and if you win you go on to cash if you lose you kick yourself about it,

to answer the question could it be played diffrently of cause it could but why would you want it to be?, if you do manage to see a cheapish turn sure you can get away from the hand but you got to take every chance you get to get your hands on chips and if he misses you have a nice stack if you see a cheap non turn club you win a small pot  sometimes you just got to go for it and this was one of them times next time you will win and go on to cash in the long run it all evens out
67  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: This hand is annoying me , could I have played it differently ?? on: March 20, 2007, 08:11:38 PM
to put it in a better way,  in what comp do you ever want to get all your chips in with a pair of 6's? when u figure u are going to get called, unless you are extremely low stacked, sure once you flop a set there is no way out your allways doing your stack just one of them things carnt even call it a bad beat because it isnt he has been the aggressive player thorowout the hand with a legitment hand

But the question is what are you doing there with that hand in that postion at that stage of the comp
68  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: St Patricks day Irish hand on: March 18, 2007, 08:21:24 PM
i play irish alot in cash games, its reqularly called in dealers choice, i tend to play it like omaha or in a simlar fashion not offten 1 pair will win the hand, ive never played tourneyment so its a bit hard to analayise in cash id try get my money in on the flop and there isnt many hands other than a set that will call, i may be tempted in this case to keep the bullets though if i put him on a flushdraw ill keep the aces, if i put him on another hand i keep the flushdraw strange theory i know but its got some sence behind it lol

before i could answer i have to ask, what was your table imagine at the time? what kind of hands were you showing/playing?
70  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: This hand is annoying me , could I have played it differently ?? on: March 18, 2007, 01:32:30 AM
i have to ask this what are u doing there pre-flop with a small pair after a min-raise and a flat call and 1st to act?, with a relitivley shortstack - thats where ur problem is, once u hit the flop ur bet looks week like your hopeing they havent hit it and trying to take it down and his raise is ok he figures you for a J that doesnt want to risk your tourneyment life on it,  they only way out of this hand is to check the flop and let the fd bet the other guy call and then move-in then if he wants to call thats his choice, the way it panned out hes never passing

but it is a small comp he most likely is just trying to go for 1st spot and not botherd about small placeings in that case if u go all-in he prob calls on the flop, but pre-flop is the problem like i said before u got to look at things before calling a min raise for value so u prob think, the push pre-flop isnt really an option here either by the sounds of it 1 of the 2 guys will call,

72  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Over bet to induce the All in.... on: March 12, 2007, 07:52:26 PM
you pretty much have to call here, i dont agree with the above post why would you re-raise with AJ on a loose table in full knoledge you will get called and not haveing a clue where you are? your creating a monstor pot with a marginal hand the big no-no in tourneyment play,

i dont really have a problem with the way you played it though i would of done the same maybe bet less than you did on the flop to make it look like an information bet and see what happend, when he re-raises i have to look at a few things can i survive if i pass this hand? is this player likely to be in here with ak/q and play like this ?,  could he play k10 like this or could he play 10c9c like this ?  if i can put him on a certin hand its a insta call,  if i carnt i have to think but prob call as its pretty early doors and you need hands like this to win the comp,

i would think there are maybe 3 hands he has here,  JQ or K10 maybe a flushdraw,
73  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: call or pass ? on: March 12, 2007, 07:44:01 PM
ur correct there alex if he flat calls me and checks i bet again on the turn, he gets full value for his hand,  because then i simply dont pass,
74  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: is it wrong to do this? on: March 12, 2007, 07:41:12 PM
it was self deal tourneyment the 2nd one,  and i pushed the pot to him and he gave it to me and then the cards were mucked, ?
75  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: call or pass ? on: March 11, 2007, 09:50:52 PM
i passed and he showed 56,   and your right james no one could belive the shortstacks,

was just wondering if the rest of you would do the same or move-in ?,     the player btw is tight as anyone before he has a few then hes loose as a goose,  this was after i think his 3rd pint lol,    i firgured i had enough chips to do something in the blinds or on the dolly, i had a pretty good table imagine,  but i ran 10's into AJ on the dolly,  the last hand i expected him to have was A6 was a bit taken aback when someone said that its very unlikely a player would call with a6 even if it was suited after that sort of action, unless he is a complete moron lol
