46  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: First sign of consolidation post US legislation - Tain joins Tribeca network on: October 11, 2006, 03:07:18 PM
Bigger site, more players good news.........shows that Tribeca are moving forward rather than backing out. I think this is good news for everyone on the network.

How good a quality do you need?

New but just a table top will do, or if second hand must appear to be "as new" if you know what I mean.

51  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Why no EPT qualifiers on blonde/tribeca? on: October 05, 2006, 05:26:03 PM
WPT is sponsored by someone else.

WSOP is sponsored by someone else, PokerStars in fact.

What makes the EPT any different? If Cryptologic can run Sats, Tribeca can too. What makes the WSOP so special, another stars sponsored event?

Like I said I agree with you which is why I am pushing for these sats.
52  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Why no EPT qualifiers on blonde/tribeca? on: October 05, 2006, 05:03:38 PM
At the moment the reason tribeca haven't is because these are all PokerStars sponsored events.  The EPT at the Vic had satellites running to it on Blue Sq. poker. I will continue to press this issue as I believe that we should offer these to our players. I firmly believe that with the USA situation that all European events will grow and we need to be ensuring players should qualify through tribeca.

tribeca are however running sats to the Aussie Millions, WPT, WSOP  Pokerface 2007.

I agree that the service level is not great most times, I hope that it improves as I believe that these guys will be the route for many amirican punters in the future. If it doesnt then I am sure a competitor will appear soon.

Many years ago I played in a cash game in a Plymouth casino. It was in the days when many of them where privately owned and the poker room was often full of Kalooki players. We were involved in a game of 3 card brag and it was getting close to closing time. One of the players wives had decided to pay a visit to her husband to "discuss" what time he would be arriving home. They exchanged views which resulted in the lady storming off. As she left her husband said something that made her turn on her heels and come storming back. As she approached the table (we were in the middle of a hand) she lost her footing....its at this point that I should mention that some Muppet (i cant think who) had spilt a drink on the table earlier and we had put a cover over it.....to break her fall she reached out grabbed the table cloth and pulled the entire contents on to the floor on top of her.

Lying there covered in drink and cigarette ash we where very concerned and they player to my left immediately jumped up and said I have a flush the pot is mine!!!!!we then spent the next 20 mins trying to agree on who had what on the table whilst the deshevled and distraught lady beat the living hell out of her husband for embarresing her..It does not sound as funny in print but I have to say it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen..especially the way she laid into him after her fall...they are still married 25 years later and he still gets a smack every time I mention it

I think this is a good point. I will have a word with tribeca and will see if there are any planned in the coming months, though I do think the pokerface 2007 tournament is the best value tourney on the web...which is only available on tribeca  Cool Cool

I will get back to you!!

So if the American market collapses, where are the marketing arms of the Online Rooms gonna spend all their money?.....

200 million Americans  440 million Europeans on paper the math looks good. However the lack of understanding of poker in Europe and with a low penertration of broadband customers in comparison will result in  many sites going after a smaller market there will be initially a very tough time for some networks and sites. We chose tribeca as I am sure Blonde did because it has a very high European player base, but no matter what site or network you are on this is going to hurt unless you find a fix. Marketing will outside of the US will not fix the problem but acelerate the end of poorly ran sites...so Blonde I think will benafit (as I hope we do).

It will in the long term accelerate the growth in the far east and central Europe.

It's a prevention law. They are just going to make it hard to deposit. If you don't use a US bank you will be fine anywhere.

Not so. Many of these companies will now not let you log in when you are on US soil. I could not access Betfair Poker from Vegas and I believe Will Hill have now also prevented people logging in from the US. It is almost certain that Party and 888 will also prevent players from the US being able to log in as well and if Stars, Empire, Paradise, Full Tilt and UB do the same, then that is pretty much it for US online players. There will be ways around it, but only a small minority of players will go down this route. The days of ever increasing prize pools online and weekly million dollar tournaments are numbered.

Full tilt would shut down without US players and many other sites as well. The US knows it cannot stop the websites which is why it has tried to stop the transactions. If Pokerstars decides to accept US players that can make deposits then it will clean up, however if one site does it I think others will follow I cannot see that sites will stop players..only the banks on US soil.

I dont feel so stupid ...I am not trying to advocate breaking the law but my understanding seems to be that what they are trying to do is not enforcable. I cannot believe that he transaction tracking at barclays will be able to identify all the netteller proccesing (which by the way is done at Barclays).
So if a US player opens a foriegn account (as per what flushy said) then as it is legal to gamble on line in the U/K then any payment request from that account will be proccessed.

I think sort of maybe.... it sounds to easy but the comments you guys made seems to support this
60  Poker Forums / The Rail / OK stupid question but....... on: October 03, 2006, 11:18:59 AM
......if I am a European player and I am in the US on hols or something will I be able to play and re load my account. If so then any US player can register a U/K address on line and use that address. With companies such as netteler it should be no problem. You could use a friends address in Europe stating you are there on business for a year for example..or am I being exceptionally thick?....it wont be the first time Smiley
