I am currently mid-dither as to whether to drive up to Notts & play this.

a 5 hour round trip, to set fire to £275, or stay at home & slouch in front of the TV, & spend the evening online playing £5 SNG's.....

Play this Tikay, great structure that is right up your alley. I mean even I was able to amass chips?!?

How many levels is day1?

10 ending at 1200-2400

Thanks, I'll have a crack at the online day 1 tonight I think.

and well played too yesterday!!! Nice stack!!!

Thanks Vinodh, same to you. I'd like to claim skill and guile but basically everyone just gave me chips.

I agree on the buyin front, I wouldn't travel if it was too low. Then again if it had a chunky guarantee and an online day 1 option I might take a punt.

I do think it would be a success though, in festivals of old you would have people travel specifically to play the Omaha event. DC players from around the country. They were/are like Tikay, love the game so want to play a good structured event where they can enjoy themselves.

If DTD put a guarantee on the event I think it will hit the numbers. Main problem with Omaha events is that you can't guarantee the numbers so don't risk travelling and it is then a vicious circle causing the event to fail. If it has the guarantee there is less risk so you are willing to travel (as is everyone else) and the guarantee is met (more often than not).

I'd donate if I was free. Might struggle to hit guarantee, though with re-entries it would have a chance. Online day 1 option might make hitting it easier?

To be honest if title is should you 3b jam or 3b.

Then i think 3b jam is prob better.

However whats your plan if you 3b. Is it to 3bf i presume it is then you are putting in at least 25% of your chips and folding. Also if he flats you have an awful hand and awful stack to play oop vs a guy with chips.

Think i prefer letting this one go and finding a better spot with 16bb.

Imo - fold>call>3b jam>3b.

Thanks Killer. I'm never 3bet folding here, and if he flats then I'm pretty much leading into any flop. I just think more and more people would call lighter here vs a Jam than they would vs a 3bet from a stack that you can't think would fold if you 4 bet. I'm sure just 3 betting is exploitable but if I'm playing it the same way as if I was allin I can't see much downside. Though that is why i'm asking...

I haven't posted on PHA in a while. Though want to discuss a hand from the weekend.

Day 2 - 25ish left in Coral 30/30, 18 paid.

4000/2000/500
Hero SB 65k (Ran a big bluff towards the end of day 1 that button saw get through)
Button raises to 8k out of circa 160k (Youngish lad, seems to know what he is doing. Not afraid of calling light through the streets. Has lost a decent size pot recently)

What should be my shoving range and his calling range? I have 107s he calls with A6o. I had his opening range pretty wide 50%+, though probably his calling range lower than what it was.

I've been think about these spots recently and am considering whether I should just 3bet to 25k ish with my entire range and then call it all off pre if he puts us in or bet any flop if he flats. This is try and make my range look stronger, which in isolation it does as he can't think I'm raise folding. Risk is he comes along with some hands he might fold pre that still dominate us, though still has to hit. I think it would have the advantage of getting marginal hands that could be dominated to fold and we're in the same spot if he puts us in anyway.

Thoughts?

Ooh, while he is in the thread, congratulations to "gamblor25", (gamblor21 on blonde) aka At It Bradders, for his success in the Sunday Roller last night.

Chip leader very early, & was soon so dominant he could not fail to win.

Unfortunately that was sarcasm Tom... I managed several double downs to not trouble the scorers. Site must be rigged.

Boom!

What?

WHAT?

I've just checked - you were clear leader when I last looked, & you only finished 62nd?

Wow.

And I was so nice about you in the commentary.

Loved the A-A v Q-Q hand. You run better than Thewy. Who finished 5th, incidentally.

Was Great to see you @ UKPC, & even better to make the Omaha Final sat next to you. How did that one go?

xx

I managed to run kings into aces twice in the super roller. Nut flush into quads, though think I should fold that hand on the river. It is a good comp though and I'll donate again when I can.

In the UKPC Omaha I was chip leader going into the final and manage to double down several times, losing chips to everyone on the table. I think I'm starting to see a trend. I was disappointed with the finish as up until the final I felt like I'd played very well, never having to get my chips in with the typical Omaha flips. Partly down to the excellent which allowed us to play poker instead of raise /fold.

Good luck Tom, get it won. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again! Or as the kids say these days, stick it in their eye...
