Once he makes it 10,100, if you call there is what 21k in there? With aces I guess you can call but with Kings I'm either clicking back or shoving. Probably shoving - worst case he folds and you pick it all up without risk?

If he'd made it 14k or so that was the plan.

But his five bet is so small, it just screamed of aces reopening the betting so I could 6 bet.

But obviously that's what it was designed to make me think.

Think the last line is key - if he has Aces I'm going broke here

UL Keith. What was the hand vs Sam from day 1? I spent day 1a with him and would be interested to hear if you have time.

Sorry for delay in posting this up

I started day 2 with 30bb. On the very 1st hand of the day I 3b the button vs a 25bb CO open. He called and donked a QT4cc flop and folded to my jam. (This is one for lil Dave's scrapbook).

Next significant hand I limped SB with QTcc (yay limping) vs what I suspected to be quite an aggressive hooded type. He raised quite small and I called. Flop ATx I check called a small bet, turn T check check, river 5 which completed back door diamonds. I bet and he raised an amount which looked like it was for value and given his turn check back it didn't seem like a bluff at all. Not really a lot I'm beating but I did end up calling and beat T7o

I called with in a multiway pot and the flop came 963hh. Everyone checked to me on the button. I knew if I bet no-one would really believe me for a hand and that I'd have trouble continuing vs a check raise but I think I had to bet here. Everyone folded around to Willie (who was the last person to check to me). He put in a small ish check raise. He had made a few small raises/3bets since we started, most of which hadn't worked. His raise was 5k more and he had about 25k extra back. I was playing about 55k. This was a pretty close decision I think between folding and jamming as even sets I would think he'd bet given there was only 1 person left behind him on a board like this. I ended up folding but am not sure about this one.

A few hands later I call Willie's open with two spades (as described in previous post). I think fold pre may be right. I usually err on the side of calling if it's marginal either way and with 50k I think I can just about call 2700. 3 way to the flop of 732r and as I said before I raised Willie's Cbet and then the BB moved all in for 50k more having me covered. My 1st reaction was that I'm never folding but when I actually sat and thought about it I knew he was going to show me a set. If I had I'd have called in a flash but apart from if he's defended 73 I can't see much else that an old guy new to the table wants to shove his 50bb in with facing an early position cbet and a raise in front of him. Sure some random old guys are going to overvalue or something in this spot but this guy has only been sat down for 2 hands so I've no idea if he would. Most wouldn't, I'd think. Bottom line was 40bb were too valuable to me in this tournament to guess and call off here when my instinct told me I had 1 out most of the time.

I hadn't spoken to him when I made the original post in this thread but he did come up to me in the break to ask me what I had. He said he had 77 and had played it badly. No real reason why he would come up to me and not tell the truth but either way I think I'm happy with the fold

Later I called a raise with KTcc on the button after a raise and call. Flop was KT7hh and everyone checked to me. I bet and Wille was the only caller. Turn was a heart, check check and river was Two Clubs. Willie lead very small and I felt I could still raise for value. This turned out to be a mistake as he had a flush Sad

Blinds went up and I didn't find a hand for a few orbits (or there was significant action in front of me). On my final hand the SB (who was new to the table but was big stacked, and seemingly loose/bad) opened and I went with 33. He had ATcc and turned a ten.

Mostly frustrating day where big hands ended up second best. Could have saved some chips vs Willie but it wouldn't have been enough for me not to shove my last hand in any case and I doubt he is folding his AT so results likely the same

UKIPT next week - on to the next one and all that

Chipped up to 50k or so (500/1000/100) Willie opens EP 2700, I call CO 22, big blind (old guy who has just sat down completes BB). 732r Willie bets 3,900 and gives me some verbal based on a hand before. Because of the history I had to raise (8,300) as I was pretty sure I would get on. Old guy now moves in for 50k

To activate time bank you click on your name.

Don't think this is true

I'm not sure you can activate your timebank. It kicks in automatically if (1) you have chips in the pot already and you go past the given 10-15 seconds before acting (2) If the tournament has been set up to have timebanks

Ok quick report on how yesterday went. Started at a table with only 1 player I recognised. Everyone was limping about and having the time of their lives. I won about every pot I played (all small) and was patting myself on the back for a great choice of start day. 1 hour in "I need the big blind from table 5". Off I was to join the table of people joining late. It was ok though, because the Big Blind from table 4 was also coming which was great as I hadn't had a chance to catch up with Sam Grafton for a while...

Sam, Rhys, Mickey Peterson and Luke Schwartz were all lined up to my left and looking around the room it was hard not to feel a little hard done by. That said, this table actually started very well. I got up to 40k by the 1st break, finding a few nice hands and getting paid, knocking out a short stacked Barny Boatman and only putting a substantial amount of chips in with Q high once.

40k was to be my peak. It wasn't that much went wrong but that there was nothing really happening at all. This table eventually broke and while the next one was better I couldn't get going. The 1st time I put a chip in the pot was a 3b vs utg. The big blind found kings and I had to fold. The next time I raised was the last hand of the level. Everyone was getting up for break but fortunately the old guy in the 1st seat who hadn't moved a chip yet hung around long enough to move in and I had to fold again. I did pick up aces before this table broke and the 2 young guns at the other end had once again gone through their raise and 3b routine although neither were interested enough to give me a spin

With an hour or so left I moved tables again. The only playable hand I found was from UTG and I folded to a check raise on the flop. Chips were flying in all over the place but none that I could catch unfortunately.

Tad disappointing not to be able to kick on from a good start but I can't think of any spots I passed up on or what I could do differently. Blinds will be 500/1000 when we go back, prizepool looks like it will be big.

any curveballs ?

75/150 I open QJo from MP playing 30k. Dan Sampson is the only caller from CO. We've played a few pots together and he's been saying how lucky I am etc, after I got there in a couple of small pots (that went check check on the turn). He then called me down on AKK9 for 2 streets with 33 vs my KJ (in a 4 way pot) and rivered a 3 but that one didn't get talked about for some reason

Anyway flop A42r I bet 400 and he raised to 1100. His style had mostly been calling a lot so a small raise like this seemed a bit odd. At best a weak ace trying to make life easier but more likely an airball than a set. I called and checked the 3 turn. Any 5 is a straight and there's now 2 spades. He bet 1500 pretty quickly. Any hand that's not A5 doesn't make too much sense. I check raised to 4k after a bit of a speech about "hope you haven't hit a 3 again" etc. He tanked for a long time. He clearly doesn't like to fold vs me but was convincing himself I had A5ss or set of . He was trying to say he had a set of two spades but the way he said it wasn't very convincing. To my surprise he eventually called. Biggest moody ever or genuinely being stubborn with something. River was and I bet 5,025. He thought for a long time again then folded

I'm not one for showing bluffs pretty much ever but this particular time really felt like if I did it would "liven up the game" in certain parts and Danny still had a good amount of chips. I wasn't planning on playing too crazy overall (on a tough table) so it seemed appropriate. Some people who had played with me a fair bit before were shocked lol

Have changed from day 1b to 1a for GUKPT which is today, amongst theories that it will be the softer of the 2 as travelling pros look to minimise hotel expenses. We'll see - will update on twitter and post here tonight

How did that work out for your table draw Smiley

All the more painful that I started on such a dream table and then drew the short straw when the late regging superstars needed some fresh meat to get their's going

Made day 2 with 30,500 - will write a mini report tomorrow
