I really liked Ken Docherty as a player but as a commentator I find him rather irksome fairly often.
I am a self-confessed grumpy old man with a long list of irksomes, especially on comms. but is it just me?
Totally agree, he brings nothing of merit to the commentary.

Have you got the Merlin bird app
Great bit of tackle for bird song recognition, especially this time of the year
I got Teeks on it but he's more of a townie
Morning Mr Trevor. Funnily enough, I was using Merlin last night. I played Mickleover with three pals. It's a heavily wooded course with some lovely mature trees & bushery. We had a 10 minute wait on one tee whilst we let a speedy 2 ball through, & this was at about 7pm on THE most beautiful sunny spring evening. The birdsong was in full flow so I opened Merlin up & it snap identified 4 different varieties within seconds. Nothing exotic - Robins, Blackbirds, a Song Thrush & a chaffinch - but it gave me a real kick to be able to know what they were. As a golfing experience it was a disaster - that's another story - but it was SUCH a perfect evening weather-wise, with glorious birdsong right across the course. Hope to see you soon Trevor, it's been way too long since we had a knock. Mr Giblin (JAKALLY) invited me for a round a week or two ago & we drove down to Stoke Rochford GC on the A1 south of Grantham. Wow, it was SO lovely. I play with Moulty's crew at Breadsall Priory (Moorland) regularly) & yesterday I played with another crew - "JAC" & co - at Mickleover.

Sad news, Deadly Derek is no more. As a relatively young man & in the days when I had sporting heroes, "Deadly" Derek Underwood (along with Alan Knott who was usually behind the wickets at the other end) was one of them, & grumpy Trevor Bailey on TMS. What memories, B Underwood, C Knott.

My uncle's horse Panda Boy is 3rd favourite for the Grand National so I'm not saying anything hugely interesting but he says "he's as right as he could be", if anyone fancied a bet. It's a dream for him. He had a horse Doubleuagain that won at Cheltenham about 40 years ago. That ran in the Grand National, finished but didn't place. Winning the Grand National has always been a life long dream and to be so close is amazing.
That's gotta be well exciting. VBOL, hope it runs well & gets home safely.

RIP Peter Higgs - he of the "Higgs bosun". If you ever get the chance have a read of a few of the scores of books about Peter & the discovery of the Higgs bosun at LHC. I've read most of them, & barely understood a word, & still I don't comprehend much of it. The "World of Small" is incredible, but it's a fascinating subject. He was a very special man indeed & clever beyond our imagination. Click to see full-size image. |

That's great to hear & see Rich. It's good to have a passion in life, be it a pet, or a hobby (golf or whatever). It's certainly livened up my latter years. You may be surprised to know I've followed your "Dog Passion" since Day One on Twitter. Some great photos on there, here's a couple which others might enjoy... Click to see full-size image. |

I'm grand ta Craig. Where are you these days - still in China? All good with you & yours? I’m great thanks Tony . I left China in 2022 and moved to Thailand ,which is where I had always wanted to finally be after initially discovering Asia all those years ago I have lived in Asia for 15 years now and do wonder where the time has gone . They say time flies when you are having fun! I also play a fair bit of golf again now which like you I do really enjoy. Next month we have a competition called the Thai China Ryder Cup which is between expats from China vs expats from Thailand (who once lived in China). Just an excuse for a group of mates to play 3 days of golf together and have a catch up and the craic Take care mate it’s been emotional Noooooooooooo - 15 years? It does not feel anything like that since those wonderful days at J10. There were some characters there.
