By the way, does anyone who may read this know how long it takes for Poker425 to get in contact about winning and delivering your prize?, all i'm getting in my Inbox is tumbleweed.

2557  Poker Forums / The Rail / To the pet/s of "rcoates", an apology. on: May 06, 2006, 05:09:09 PM
So there i was, "sweating" the cards of my girlfriend as she played a STT on dreampoker.com, when about 9 hands in the following situation occured : -

My girlfriend is dealt :

Everyone folds round to her and she flat-raises.

One other player and the BB (rcoates) call.

The flop brings :

rcoates checks, my girlfriend pushes all-in and the other player folds.

rcoates calls all-in, my girlfriend has him slightly covered.

His hand?

Things are not looking good for my heroine, she's only around 17% to win.

The turn brings :

Somewhere, very distant as if carried on the wind, we could have sworn we heard a scream of despair, which was promptly drowned out as my girlfriend celebrated winning the hand and knocking a player out.

So, to any small, furry mammals that may belong to "rcoates", we would like to apologise if your blissful slumber was disturbed by your owners boot up your a*** as he/she rants and attacks helpless inanimate objects.

If it makes you feel any better, my girlfriend is a good Catholic and will be confessing to her priest this Sunday, which in itself should be an interesting conversation.

I wonder how many Hail mary's and Our fathers this will cost her?

So there i was, watching this weeks Poker425 and playing online when i suddenly heard Jonny Gould say my name, it appears i won some clay poker chips in the shows competition.

Rewinded just to make sure, lol.

Think i folded pocket aces by accident while double checking though, although they could have been 4's, lol.

Signed up a while back for beta testing, so hearing that public testing should begin in a couple of weeks is good news.

I'm very interested in how the interface is going to work and how appealing it will be to those first time online players who may have been put off by the standard type of interface used by online poker sites to date.

A possible UK leg of the WPT at DTD, interesting.

However, it is amusing to imagine how the WPT will handle the bringing out of the prize money when it gets to heads-up.

Courtney friel enters stage followed by some WPT dancers dressed as Robin hood's merry men, they then proceed to "steal" the prize money of some poor actor dressed as the sheriff of Nottingham and present it to the players.

God bless the colonials.

2562  Poker Forums / The Rail / Octogenarians involved in secret WPT advertising scheme ? ? on: April 27, 2006, 01:09:37 AM
Greetings, so there i was watching the painful "showbiz poker" with my girlfriend when the adverts kicked-in and something about the advert for the "McCarthy & Stone" retirement apartments caught my eye.

Right near the beginning, just after the badly dubbed couple extol the virtues of "her new life and new friends" it cuts to a shot of some 80-somethings playing cards. What caught my attention was the fact the cards they were using are infact the blue backed World Poker Tour cards.

Now, was this because the WPT is finding ever more inventful and subliminal ways of marketing it's product or simply that a member of the production crew was sent down to the local Asda to get a pack of cards and happened upon some WPT branded ones?

Is this a conspiracy theory to rival the faked moon landing or simply amusing and happy coincidence??
