Bollocks!
I didn't want you to read it until I'd modified it into an advert for a Peugeot 206 that I have for sale.
Pics to follow....
Bit of a rub down, Tom, on the day Archie & Fib get done You could always get yourself done as a gesture of solidarity. He spent last night trying to reassure them. "I'm really sorry boys...but there's always adoption."

Blimey. Our electric is only about £14 per month...and I'm home all day, every day. Ooops. Jack's just reminded me, we have solar panels which I make good use of, but your bill is still miles too high.

We've a long way to go, but it was nice to spend a day at the beach where they actually listened to us. We spent a few hours on a patch of our own and just down the way from us was a man with his two small dogs. Every now and then the boys would look over at the other dogs who were playing and barking, we'd get their attention back on us and if need be, use a firm voice. I was delighted with the way they stayed put because there would've been no chance even a month ago. That said (and I really hope I'm wrong) they may have been more inclined to listen because we were in unfamiliar territory?
It's really difficult to convey the principles of teaching reliable recall, and I'm afraid I'm failing miserably Dawn. I'm going to keep trying until you tell me to piss off though. In your post you say you were delighted when your dogs stayed put. You mean they had a choice? If they had ignored you and run off to play with the other dogs, it would just confirm to them that they don't have to come back until it suits them. During the training period, every time you give a command that you can't enforce, you risk taking a giant leap backwards. Sorry. Trying to explain this to Dawn is like trying to call back a dog that hasn't had correct recall training Bite me. Were you looking in our window to see my confused head tilting sideways as I read it ffs?! lol

I got the 'sent to Cov' reference. Problem arose when I assumed Dawn did too. What I didn't get is why Tom might think Dawn's sent him there.
She asked me a question on the 22nd, I answered it, but I felt like it was not really the reply she was hoping for. After that, I didn't hear anything else from her for days. I thought I had upset the silly mare. I tend to offend people without meaning to, I can't imagine why..... Ahhhhhhhhhh, NOW I get it! I appreciated the reply muchly, honest. Yeah, your answer sucked...because it meant working harder on their training and I just wasn't sure if it was possible to teach them. Didn't want to report back until we were at wits end or had good news, but we've been working a great deal on it since and as it happens, they're getting better. Long way to go yet, but they're MUCH better than even a couple of weeks ago and I'm starting to see light at the end of the recall tunnel. Still think that woman is wrong for bringing an aggressive dog to what she knows is an established community dog club play time when she has no interest in working on socialising with her dogs. That said, my time is better spent working with the boys than trying to fight the rights and wrongs with her. I really do appreciate your help/advice. Even when it's a pain in the arse sometimes. xx Just to labour the point where even further, everyone who has trouble with recall is guilty of calling their dog to see if it will come. That's fine, until the time that it doesn't. At that point, it learns two things. It doesn't have to,come, and you can't make it. At the risk of sounding immodest, my dog always comes when I call her simply because she doesn't know not coming is an option. BTW, I think a certain someone who's name starts with L and ends with axie has sent me to Coventry.
Huh?! I've not even been around ffs. Been to the seaside with the boys after we found a lovely wee hotel in Overstrand that allows dogs. Back home now. They're currently flat out and Jack's sporting a new shade of red on his back. The boys surprised us both when they were so well behaved too. Bonus! So what are you up to and why are you in Coventry? Well I thought I was in Coventry, but I asked someone and they said I can't get there from here. Where is 'here'? I'm so confuzzled. Perpetual state. No argument there but Jack doesn't get it either. He does, surely? Or is he preparing for his US-ness already? Sigh. He's just said he answered me assuming I knew what it meant. He's since explained ffs. Aaaaaaaaaaaand, she's back.
