Step one of operation relocation is complete! Fed Ex has collected the petition and US Immigration will have it in the morning. wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
The process of getting a visa is ridiculously long and drawn out with more paperwork than should be allowed by law. Luckily Jack has amazing patience (no shit...he puts up with me) and has managed to sift through the maze that is US immigration. I read through it all and signed the paperwork, but my eyes haze over a bit and I just can't focus when faced with a mountain of the stuff.
It can take up to 10 months for everything to be finalised. Yikes! Ah well, we'll get there eventually.
Next step, hunt down a realtor and prep the house to go on the market in January.
Hows Boldie getting on these days after all that happened? Anyone hear from him or his missus?
It's been a long slog, but they're well. He took a physical trainer course and found a new job, starting at the ground level with hopes of working his way up. He has nothing to do with gambling in any form since and even struggled to keep in touch with the few of us initially for fear he'd get the bug back. So far so good.
Good to know their both ok. Pass on my good wishes if you speak or text him in the future
Hiya Tikay. Hope all is well. Not sure if you've seen this already, but I saw this clip today and thought of you. It had me teary eyed by the end. Mushy is a young lad who has the same problem you use to have...

Photographers who have taken some of the most iconic photos of our time...and Tikay's. We can remember the photos, but do we remember the photographers credited with taking them?
We're moving to Ohio. I grew up on the west side of Cleveland and that's where we're heading, but not exactly sure which town yet. We're kind of thinking along the lake somewhere if possible because it'd be great fun for the dogs, but even near a decent park would be good. We'll stay at my Mom's when we first move over, giving us time to house hunt without pressure.
I've blonde and one member in particular to thank for quitting the smokes. There was a thread debating e cigs around here somewhere and I got in touch with one of the participants of that thread to enquire about e cigs. He was very helpful, so a special thank you to...you know who you are. After doing a bit more research myself, I ordered one of these from a UK based online shop called paradise vape and haven't looked back...
Jack's been running a lot this year and I decided to get back into training so I'd be able to join him on some of the runs. I need to fit into a wedding dress next summer without looking like a beached whale and figured this was the surest way to make that happen. Enter Couch to 5k. http://www.c25k.com/ You can get the free app for your phone and it really is good.
That said....good grief! I've done 7 weeks of the training so far and seem to be stuck on 2 miles when I should be running 2.5 miles by now. Well, that's not entirely true. The programme says 25 minutes OR 2.5 miles...whichever comes first. Except the 25 minute bell came first every time last week...and only amounted to 2 miles each time. Sigh.
I really should be pleased with myself for even managing that much. To a point, I suppose I am pleased. It was a struggle to run for even 60 seconds at the start of the training and I never thought I'd be where I am now. I even gave up the smoking a couple of weeks ago hoping it would make running easier. It really has, but I'm still not going as far as I wanted to by now. Have to get past this hurdle and only have three weeks left to do it. No pressure then.
I've booked in to run my first official 5k run on November 23rd. It's a Movember race and the women are encouraged to sport a moustache of some sort as well. Bought mine last week, so no turning back now. Going with the pirate look, complete with goatee. Should be good fun and whatever happens, I'm going to finish that race...running!
So, after a week of showing Jack around the Cleveland area, we were walking Carmen one day when Jack asked how I'd feel about moving back to Ohio.
I often thought of it before Jack and I got together and I'd probably be there already if we hadn't. But Jack's been in the same village all his life. He was born in a house right around the corner and most of his family are still in the area. I'd never even mentioned it to him and figured I was UK rooted...end of.
I was stunned. First I clarified - are you suggesting we move? Why not? Blimey. My kids have dual citizenship and have always talked about living in the States when they finish Uni, so it was a no brainer from my point of view. I still played devil's advocate and rambled off all the reasons why I was worried he wasn't thinking straight. Nope...he was pretty sure this was a good idea. After a chat with my Mom and Step-Dad, that was that. Hmmmmmm...ok then. Over 40 and starting over. Looks like we're moving to America.
Why worry about something that is always going to be the case :-)
Reckon he is planning how many trips to Vegas he can sneak in each year *lol*
PS - Good luck and congrats
Rodders!!!!!!!! Don't know how I missed your post before, but thanking you muchly for the good wishes. xx
Whatever about Jack, you can be sure I'm already wondering how many trips to Vegas we can make each year.
That trip with yourself, Jack and the APAT gang in 2011 was my first (and last) time in Vegas. Chances are good we'd probably only get there once a year when you lot are over, but that's better than nothing with the best of company, so a win win all around.
On the plus side, if we get the poker bug outside of Vegas trips, there's a Harrah's Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland now. wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Absolutely tickety boo Dawn. Vegas Sept/Oct back to work for 2 weeks then IWF in Dublin. Rest of the year going to feel so boring after those two parties. #Bragalert After the most dismal 6 months of poker, playing decent but getting mullered with 2/3 outers etc, finally started to have my hands hold up. Vegas 12 comps 6 FT. Dublin 3 comps 2 FT. Back in love with poker again.
xxx
Blimey! You've been a busy man. Very well done on the poker binkage. mbn and all that I was sort of keeping up with it on facebook, but I lost track because you'd so much going on. Did you know there's a Harrah's in down town Cleveland? More than welcome to visit once we get over there.
Don't worry about boredom. Only two months left in the year and Christmas and New Year's got it covered.
