Andrew Black, is clearly a class act, i just wish hed calm down a bit when he gets a big chip lead on final tables. Instead of trying to knock everyone out stragiht away, just calm down, wait for a few players to drop and wait for a few situations

James Blake - to make the semis.

Verdasco should also do well, but no chance of winning it.
7909  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: I've just Folded KK Preflop on: June 26, 2006, 01:39:27 PM
I would never be able to fold KK in this type of tournament, particulairly for this sort of buy in, despite only bein a  low stakes player myself, i would happily gamble that my opponent dosent hold AA as he usually dosent (QQ, JJ, AK, 1010)

The only time ive ever folded KK is in a cash game to "Le Knave" himself, when it was early on and i raised £2 and he moved all in for a further £16. Now he dosent often mess with me, and it was fairly obvious the sort of hand i had. And i also knew that he wouldnt risk going home straight away, when we had a godo night of poker in store against weaker players if he didnt have AA:- so i folded.

Later on everyone else told me and he admitted himself, that he had AA but was happy to just win the £2.75 already in the pot.  Cool

3.10 Benbaun win and place

I hope some of you backed it. I had it at 24/1 and 6/1 the place on Betfair. Came 2nd out of 22 in a photograph. Nice

Didn't everyone see how awful Sweden were against Trinidad AND Paraguay.

Ok we were poor, but they were atrocious. 2-0 to England!! Definetly value at 13/8.

I don't rate England and am a constant pessimist. I do though see some value at 13-8 and will be backign England to win

Yeah your both right, but in this instance i think he definetly did as he simply went mad but clearly didnt have too much.

I often find your tactics (of saying what you have before you fold) useful in home games, as people arent wise enough not to show you the bluff, and its good to gain information on opponents you play against a lot.

You are right though, i shouldnt have showed, but couldnt resist for the Comedy value. and it was only a small stakes game which i dont usually play.....
7915  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: blondepokerleague goings on.... on: June 20, 2006, 10:13:20 AM
I enjoyed the league events although i only managed to compete in two or three due to tournaments at the casino and home games which i play in very frequently. Therefore i think the idea of only the 5 best points totals scoring towards your tally is a great idea.

This also means that some people who don't like the banded around idea of Ohama rebuys/tournaments don't neccessarily have to compete in these events (I'm a Stud fan myself, need to play more omaha to learn it properly) and this won't totally hurt their chances in the league standings.

7916  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Getting the blame for someone losing £200 on: June 20, 2006, 09:31:38 AM
I was playing in a cash game on Crpytologic last night 10 player £.50/1 and made a play that i wouldnt consider as regular for my style. I had won the last few pots with good hands and received  on the Small Blind. Only 1 person had called so i decided to take control of the pot by raising to £2.50.

The big blind called and the other player folded. The flop was  two hearts. I bet £2.50 again and the big blind player called. The turn brought  and i raised £4 deciding that if the other player called i would be able to give up on it on the river, yet i was fairly confident hed fold. Instead he re raised to £8, This confused me as i was pretty sure he didn't have a lot. I decided to try and play for it on the river and re raised to £14. He called.

The river brought  and instead of giving up on it i bet £20. This may be considered stupid but i was going with my instincts that he was bluffing/didnt have a lot. After a while he said in the chatbox "I know you dont have much but i only have  ". When he folded i obviously showed the  . At this point he simply went mental and despite losing just £19 he called me all the names under the sun which i of course laughed off.

Then unbeleiveably , this player went on the tilt of his life losing £200 in 20 minutes and then after that saying "Horneris you *** ***** ***** you have just lost me nearly a weeks wages!!!!" Just because he lost one £54 pot. I've never seen this before, only heard stories.

Also, i wouldnt make his type of play often if any is wondering, lol.
7917  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Trying to steal the initiative with a mini flop bet. on: June 20, 2006, 09:14:21 AM
hmm. This type of bet can sometimes be described as a "please don't raise me bet" or more commonly a "blocker bet". He wants you to be confused and just call so he can see the next card, which may help him.

I think that with so much already in the pot and a not dangerous but not entirely safe board you should raise to about 300 to see if he really means business.

Put it this way, you're not going to fold and you shouldnt be afraid of him having a 3, as he called your pre flop raise and he also wouldn't have raised 40.

I think if you re raise a real amount, with the post size in context, he folds.
7918  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Was I wrong to get involved with this hand? on: June 09, 2006, 02:34:21 PM
In my opinion, this is a hand that you must raise with to try and steal the blinds uncontested but if there is a re raise behind you it always goes in the muck.

You made the right play by raising and even though you only had about 6k left you should have folded to the re raise. This is because the re raiser is almost certain to have Ace Nine beat and often with AJ, AQ, AK, or better.

I know people will argue that you needed to double up and were pot committed but in my opinion you should have folded and waited for a better spot to push all your chips in with and soon.

7920  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Live Tourney exit hand - Would you play it differently? on: June 06, 2006, 11:56:31 AM
Yes you're right, and i do agree with you and in the long run you will obviously make a lot more money than you'd lose against Ace Five. I Just wouldnt want to take any risks on the final table when you only have around 7k left, because any Ace or King on the flop and you're hand may well be destroyed.

If you had 12,000 plus it was just a raise of course, but by going all in with 7,000 you would buy the 1,500 and therefore have a couple more rounds.

Idont think that there is really a "correct play" here, its more down to individual interpretation.
