Eck

My Sky+ box seems to be slowly getting more and more unreliable. I rang sky and was told it will be £60 to send out an engineer.

I have read that you can get the engineer out for free if you say you want to cancel but it means being put through to the cancelations dept and going through it all again.

I also heard that if I read up on the sale of goods act or something and start quoting about how products are meant to last a reasonable amount of time I can get a free engineer.

All the engineer does I have heard is bring out a reconditioned Sky box and plug that in.

Is there anyway I can get this sorted without having to go through all the hassle of either learning about the law or lying about wanting to cancel?

Many thanks

I Fecking knew it was a bad idea to admit i work for Sky!!! I'm a bloody accountant not customer service, lol.

As for your question Byron I know it is a piece of nonsense but that is the process i am afraid. If you want to avoid the service charge it has been done by that way in the past seemingly! (You trying to get me the sack? Didn't work for me I had to pay service charge when mine went phhht and yes they replaced the box) Now i am off to hide my e-mail details!

Judge: They will sell you a wireless card and i believe they cost about £15.

Last time nerves cost me passing as I shit myself

Try not to defecate this time is probably a good start!  Just try to stay calm and relaxed - if you make a mistake, don't think 'sod it I've failed' and give up - just carry on as normal.

When I took my driving test I mounted the kerb on the reverse parallel park.  My driving instructor had previously informed me that mounting the kerb was an immediate fail so, as far as I was concerned that was it.  I still went through the motions of the rest of the test though, and did everything as I would had I still be in with a chance.  I was gobsmacked when he told me at the end that I had passed!

I got failed for that my first time!!!

then again i didn't have my skirt on that day, lol!

Right here is the status straight from the horse's arse I mean mouth.

The process currently is that you have to register with Sky for the broadband service. This can be done either through the website at http://broadband.sky.com/flash.htm or by calling Sky the usual 08702 404040 number will give you a broadband option.

Once registered sky will send you an "invitation to buy" and the install can be either assisted by a sky engineer (free if on top package otherwise £50) or a self install. The offer to buy letters started getting sent on Friday 4th august and will continue on a daily basis.

At the moment Sky has only about 30% unbundled coverage of the UK which will increase as registration's etc continue. If you fall into an area which isn't unbundled they will offer you 2Sky Connect" which has download speeds up to 8mb for £17 (which I think is comparable with the BT offering).

Worthwhile checking out the SkyTalk offer also if you visit the site as it should be quite good (i am on a staff offer and only pay BT my line rental and next to nothing to Sky).

At least I can say i did something for Sky when i was at work today!

Right my job is done here i believe any other questions I will attempt to get answers but you will get most of the info you need from the web or calling.
