1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Is there really any difference.... on: January 12, 2018, 04:53:55 PM
v good explanation

I think there is a big difference.

Entering a 5k sat with 5 1k packages means 5 people get one.  Entering a 5k tournament mean it is likely only one person gets enough.  So if the 1k entry is exactly what you want, the sat is a lot more efficient.  MTTs pretty much guarantee you end up with too much or too little, so you'll likely spend more trying to get your 1k than you need to.

I am sure everyone has heard tales where gambler X has £970 and burns the lot trying to get the extra £30.  I'll be pretty surprised if we did a poll here and found less have gone through the whole gambler X experience than haven't.  It is just one of those rites of passage.

I think there is another psychological angle too.  If you have paid a hundred quid to get in a tourney, you'll be more relaxed than if you had paid a grand.   Logically there is no difference, but people's brains play tricks.  I find it much easier psychologically to burn £1k online than 1k cash even now, and I think my mental game is pretty strong.  Stupid thinking, but very much true.

If your only option for you is MTTs, sure do that, but if your aim is to get the 1k entry, I think the best way is a sat.

The £500,000 GTD DTD1000 is returning 5th-8th October.

20 seats GTD every monday night NOW 8pm on partypoker

Nice one, this looks really attractive and agree with the move back to 8pm for the sats

30 minutes to the final, 40 on the final

don't know about the bubble (guess early evening, coming back at level 13 with 100+ runners left)

11pm final. 2.30am finish

Thanks for that Rich

Chip counts from this week's online day 1s are now online.

Hi Rich, managed to sneak into day2 on Sunday, so couple of quick questions if you'd be so kind:

When do the blinds switch from 30 mins to 40 mins?
What time last week did the bubble burst, final table get formed and then finally finish?

Cheers Lee

Hi Lee

I have passed all the feedback on here and elsewhere on.

A lot of players felt that 18 levels day 1 (live, primarily) was a long old day. It is felt that giving players a much better tournament experience with 12 day 1 levels vs 18 is much better/more player friendly

of course it will bring back more players for day 2 so its not possible to guarantee a min cash for everyone returning

Ah i totally get this now Rich and actually agree with what you're doing.
I was thinking from the online side, but with the increase in Live Day1s and realising they have the same amount of levels but obviously much longer, it makes total sense to adjust and cater for the Live players.
Its certainly a great value comp that ill be looking to play in more, thats for sure.

Ah i see, thanks for clearing up.

I agree that the GTD Min Cash was the selling point to me, shame its changed

Hi Rich, I know your just the messenger, but this change seems crazy to me, do you know the underlying reason to change this?
It means the online structure is far more crapashooty with a rush to get a decent enough stack to justify the expenses and travelling to Notts for what could be a quick return home with no cash.

The 18 levels and then arrive in Notts with a min cash under your belt sounds perfect to me and I'm sure many others, so why change it?

Hi Rich

With the shorter day ones will players progressing to day two still get the min cash of £400?

No, the min cash is £400 but because there will be many more players on Sunday, it is not for all players

Cheers for all the info Rich.
Don't know if you want to feed it back, but personally I think thats a big positive factor to know before playing, that should you make day2, you will be travelling (for some people a long way) to DTD in the knowledge it will be a profitable trip.
9  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: New + Weekly at DTD, £100,000 GTD DTD200 on: January 24, 2017, 01:15:02 PM
it began around 9pm

it finished around 1am

please note the schedule changes for this week though. Day 1's are 12 levels not 18, blinds are not rolled back so likely to be slightly different on day 2 this time round

schedule this week on feeders and satellites all day, including 10 x £550 at 5pm and 7pm

Thanks Rich. what would your educated guess of this Sundays start finish time be?

What time do you expect the online Day1s to finish this week?

Is it still a knockout event this week or just normal 9 handed?

Stephen Shayler won at the weekend beating a final table including Paul Jackson and Marcel Luske

This tournament looks great value and superbly flexible for full time workers.
Rich - what time did the FT start and finish on Sunday just gone please?

Indeed. Disgraceful behaviour which makes the performance from WK even more impressive.

Some strong accusations flying round on Twitter about Nguyen.

Anyone watched it? Any possible foundations?

Links?

Pretty sure that Benger himself said that he just lost the plot, and was embarrassed watching it back.

Someone who can react like that after the All-in….I personally wouldn't believe a word that came out of his mouth…and I mean off the poker table too!

The fact he keeps shouting that the king coming "won't change my life" could be just that evidence if what Rick Trigg said is right about him owing 7 figures before this tournament!
