Where do these players register for the Birmingham event? with APAT or Broadway?, because as it stands Casino's cannot discriminate between entries and Competitions must be open to all, unless the cardroom has been booked for a private function, and whoever books it should also look after monies?

Online registration on www.apat.com

first 120 entries on 1 sept who have paid get in, therefore APAT collects the monies

As with any other event, we won't discriminate as to eligible entries until it is full

So will registration open at midnight of the 31st?

It is in the APAT rules that the eligibility of players can be decided by APAT, this suggests some sort of commonsense approach.

i.e. if you earn a vast sum from poker and poker sponsorship but also write a few books - you won't be allowed to enter, if you're unemployed and hence you're only earnings are from poker until you get another job - you can enter.

This would be the best approach in my opinion because once you start setting hard and fast rules, exceptions to make these rules look silly can always be found. But it does rely on the policing being done and the common sense being applied, otherwise it will just become a free for all with anybody entering because they know they can get away with it.

Also regarding membership fees. The £5 pokerstars membership is referred to thusly:

Quote
Internet only membership is available for £5 per player and will entitle the Member to participate in APAT Online tournaments at PokerStars.com. To purchase an internet only membership, click here

Does this mean that people who take this option will not be able to enter the live tournaments?

Yes

We haven't talked a lot about the Online Series yet...the OSOAP.....but please take the time to look at the relevant section on the website

This seems clear to me, but if people go from the main page - click on join - put in their pokerstars ID and get given a £5 membership option - is it clear that this is not just a discount from the sponsor?

Also this is good to be able to have communication on this forum - but should there perhaps be a FAQ section on the website? It could initially include questions and clarifications that have arisen here, but with an option of submitting an enquiry?

The only thing that concerns me is what has been brought up already regarding professionals entering with the argument that poker isn't their sole income.

The below rules on the website show that this can be dealt with - but I would want to see confirmation that their is a commitment to using these measures.

Quote
TOURNAMENT INTEGRITY

  22. APL may impose penalties, but not a financial penalty, upon any person who gives, makes, issues, authorises or endorses any statement or action having, or designed to have, an effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interest of the tournament as determined by APL.  This may include, but shall not be limited to expulsion from the event and tournament venue  - subject to the authorisation of the Venue Manager, forfeiture of a player’s entry fee(s) and / or loss of the right to participate in this or any other tournament conducted by APL.

  25. All decisions regarding the interpretation of player eligibility, scheduling and staging of APAT tournaments lie solely with APL.

(my emphasis added to the quote)

It's not just a one off fee

The annual membership renewal fee shall be £5.

We will send out a reminder email to all those who register an interest and the first 120 respondents on 1st Sept who pay to enter (!) are in the first comp

On the site it sounds like you will only be able to register in person at the venue - is this the case or will we be able to register online?

I'd agree, you could have got away from the pot and it wouldn't have been bad playing. Staying in the pot, I agree with the all-in move and this wasn't bad either.

This was very much one of those situations where there isn't so much a right or wrong way to do it, it just depends on your particular playing style.

And of course if you had hit a hand after he'd called then you'd have been in a very healthy position heading towards the final table.

Wow, another epic & extraordinary Update by Lady Jen & Lord Sloppy. As Karabiner rightly says, these two will never, never ever, be able to buy a drink in any European Casino. WHAT a cheer they will get at bB3!

My heartfelt thanks to both of them.

As to Mr Puzzler....well now. The blondes know I'm generally pretty polite, especially to our Members. And even for you Mr Puzzler, I will not make an exception. So I say to you, politely, & in a civil tone. If you don't like, or appreciate, the work that Jen & Sloppy do, I suggest you read someone else's Updates. blonde receive no income for providing Live Updates, & it's cost a packet to have our Updaters out there. Jen & snoops barely get paid - hour for hour, it's way below the Minimum Wage. Have you ever tried Updating? No, you have not. Believe me, it's mind-blowingly tough in a 100 runner comp. How many runners are there here? I'm as tough as old boots, but it damn near killed me last year, when Jen & I shared the WSOP load.

We told the blondes, way in advance, that we would only be able to offer a restricted service from Vegas. You never noticed, because you were not around. Because you only joined blonde today, presumably so you could follow the action, for free.

I, (& I suspect the rest of the blonde Community), am not prepared to have their hard work denegrated by your ill-timed & uninformed comments. So if you don't like it, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Have a good day.

 thumbs up

SAndy

Cheers Jon, for your services beyond the call of duty  thumbs up

I used to to get down to Hastings occasionally when I lived in London, a mate of had a record shop their, "Walrus" in the Old Town

There's loads of shops in the Old Town, can't say I've ever noticed what they're called. I just go by what they sell.   Cool

I forgot to put a copy of the pictures on my camera for reference so I just had to remember the approximate view. The middle one was the only one which was quite a bit out, but it was the hardest to replicate anyway because of construction since the original was taken. Anyway these are the approximate modern equivalents of the above pictures.

I put £10 on Imogen to be the last female in the house several weeks ago at 10:1.

This wasn't so much because I thought she would be, but that I thought the price was wrong.

She's now at 7:2 to be the last female which I think is closer to the true odds, I thought it was well worth risking a tenner when the odds were this far out to start with.

For funny I don't think you can beat Jasper FForde. www.jasperfforde.com

A lot of surreality, and puns (I think he proves they're not the lowest form of wit), but so intelligently and well plotted and characterised that all his books work perfectly as good mystery/detective stories in their own right.

They're also the only books I know with Bonus Features, such as deleted scenes and making of wordumentarys.  Cheesy Cheesy

Yes, they are all Hastings.

If I remember I'll try and get the modern views this weekend and post them on here.  Cool
5670  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Worst Film youve ever seen?.... on: July 26, 2006, 08:16:59 AM
being john malkovich

revolver----- guy richies shocker from earlier in the year

I haven't seen Revolver, it looked a bit rubbish.

But I have to defend Being John Malkovich - good film, great writer. I'm always going to defend a Charlie Kaufman film he is a writing genius.  Cool Cool
