151  Poker Forums / The Rail / Weekend of Poker ...Eu ..GB.. Ire?? on: October 30, 2006, 07:34:15 PM
Ladies and Gents
Posted this elsewhere on the site ...with no joy ..thought id stick it in a more prominent position ...Thanks for any help offered

I dont know if anyone can help
With the arrival of my 40th year on this planet I have decided to spend it in a way that i enjoy, a weekends poker in the month of January or Febuary...
The criteria are it must be cheap to get to (easyjet, Ryanair et al.. or this country)The hotels should not be extortionate..There shold be affordable alcoholic supplies and most importantly Poker available. My favourite so far is the Aviation Club De France with a E30 freezeout each day a E50 Rebuy on the friday night and a E200 freezeout on the Saturday... My only issue with this is that i am, to put it mildly, linguistically challenged and fear that french at the table may throw me..
It cant be an expensive weekend and the E200 really is top end so if anyone suggests something cheaper then so much the better.. Such is the problem of playing on a budget...But i bow to any with superior knowledge..
Thanks

Join the Police !!!!..... I shit you not.. Training for 14 weeks at a residential training school then off to work for ten weeks attached to an experienced officer...Or just resign after your initial residential training paid every four weeks...
Dunno how the US citizen side of it would work.... I know some Australians did it a number of years ago saved all there money at the Met training school (Food and accomadation provided)by not going out or visiting the bar..and then resigned prior to going out to work proper having saved enough money to continue there round the world trip ...Priceless..Mind you the writing was there for all to see ..Australians not drinking ...come on !!!!

Excellent Junior .....LOL Grin

Think Colchester Kevs is the best so far though

Colchester Kev should'nt consider himself safe in Colchester...In the Jacobite Uprising the jacobite army got as far as Derby on foot before division took its toll and they turned back ....Now they can come from glasgow in a car pay the M6 Toll and be in colchester in about 7- 8 hours...

Now Owain Glyndwr there's a true hero....

Sorry to bring it back to Poker but could someone explain to a technophobe ...me.. what is the difference between "skins" and what sites they refer too???

Well done Tikay on getting another writing contract.... I think that your a little hard on yourself however saying that you dont want to appear to be cunningly spamming them ....when in fact its a two way street and there is plenty of buttering up coming the other way too...

Chris "jesus" Ferguson is described on page 31 as looking like "an obscure country and westen singer down on his luck".... He is'nt writing for the paper

On page 36 a review of the Poker 425 program reveals its hosted by "Nottingham Legend Tony "Tikay" Kendall... who is now contributing ..

So its official Tikay is a legend ....
Im sure the writting will be entertaining......as long as we dont see those 425 shorts!!! Grin

No originality in mine ... Police Dog Handler, hence K9, and sixtwo was my callsogn when internet first started now its changed but Ive stuck with sixtwo..... It is not a bizzare starting hand preference at Omaha
Many years ago I played Right Guard for the Newton GW's in Devon to continue the American Football note...Dont know if we played gwent ..but i recall being royally kicked around by Swansea...

I have not played much at Casinos , having a limited budget and expensive wife, but have played at three casinos in 10 Rebuys two of them Gala Bournemouth and Grosvenor Luton have no dealers and Grosvenor Blackpool has house dealers....Now with a 10 rebuy and 1 buy in the house are making squat on this....

However lets not overlook the fact that if Poker is bringing extra punters .. How many of them are avoiding the House Games ..Very few... And can anyone tell me of a Casino where the Poker room is at the front of the premises not at the back past all the house Games and the evils of temptation on the way in and on the way out Huh? Its classic Casino design and all set up to get your money away from you and it works thats why they design them like that...  Wink

It does seem to be a strange way of doing it ... However I managed to join Grosvenor Blackpool over the phone with no problem atall.
As an aside I went with three colleagues and played their monday night 10 rebuy a week or so ago .. My three colleagues had never played live before ...in fact one of them had never played before!!!
Can I say what a great card room the Blackpool Grosvenor is. I read lots about it here during there festival and thought it sounded good ... Its spacious , well lit ... well run and a pleasure to play at.. Well done to Yogi and the staff there we  a great evenings cards and sadly i was out first ... KK V AQ and we can all guess what the river was ...My friends also said how pleasant an atmosphere it was... So High stakes or Low stakes Blackpool is a winner....
