And the answer is ... Yes he did win the Hand..... the Poker Gods smiled on him and gave him Trips on the flop...The other player checked and he bet and the rest was history .......

169  Poker Forums / The Rail / "Rules" Question on: May 09, 2005, 09:06:40 PM
A quick question If I may .

At my home game last night we had a hand where seat 3 had raised with a stiff raise pre flop. It then folds round to seat seven who thinks for a short period and then re-raises for the same amount making it a large pot It then folds round to seat three who says "Ok call" and pushes his chips in and then turns his cards over .... General uproar as seat seven was not all in. He (seat three)quickly turns his cards back over covering tham up ... I didn't see them but everyone else as good as did .Then everyone looks to me for a ruling ..... As its my game and I'm grate..as any fule kno...
heres what I came up with ... They were allowed to play the hand (other player agreed)...But in future turning your cards over during the hand would result in the forfeiture of your participation in that hand.... Was I right or is there another way of dealing with this Huh?

Im with Ironside all the way here on this one . I enjoy playing on PokerStars and find there blind structure quite easy with 9 minutes between levels. I entered a BPO qualifier on there the other night only to find it was a Turbo ( I know I should read he small print) Turbos just seem to be a way of taking your money off you Post Haste... There is no chance of establishing who is the more skillful player as it really is a Wham Bam Thank you Ma'am style of play.

I have to say I changed from VC for that very reason there were speed events and then Turbo events which really lost the plot as far as I am concerned .
I know that to play at a steady pace the answer is to go and sit in a cash game that suits your wallet ....But I really enjoy tourneys. Its not like the Poker sites are losing money they are raking it in. Frankly they should just arrange the blind structure to be a little longer...To me its as much a social event as it is a game.... I like Poker not Bingo

Call me a little old fashioned , but Im all in favour of a dress code. The first Casino I went to was Bournemouth and I dressed smart casual (open necked shirt and trousers , not jeans) as directed in the membership pack ...getting inside most were dressed as if they had just come from the beach...The staff shrugged and said "It's a holiday resort what can you do" After saying that the card players were enthusiastic and very friendly

I feel when i go to a casino that it is a special night out and try to dress accordingly and make an effort , those that know me know i always dress as a sack of turds when i can at home. i suppose if you spend a lot of time then you can become blase... But doesn't Marcel Luske always look smart ... perhaps a Poll of some decription on tightening of standards of dress ..

174  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Odds Question .... on: April 09, 2005, 04:52:58 PM
Ok ....Its really for my online play where all sorts of strange plays take place .... where I am in big blind with lets say 5 9 suited and there have been three or four calls but no raise. My small poker brain says to just call or to raise the bet two or so times (depending on how early in the tourney it is and how big my stack is)to see if its just others limping in anyone calls , theoretically, has got something...Its difficult to play some of these poeple online. Course if the flop then comes with two of the same suit .. I just start wondering on the odds of them having the same suit ...

Ps Another way I could get this answered would be to send it in to Poker425's ask the expert section . Grin
175  Poker Forums / The Rail / Odds Question .... on: April 09, 2005, 02:01:36 PM
Ok Its a simple question but I dont know the odds . Huh?

When the flop comes down so that you have 4 suited cards , I believe its about 35% that you will hit your fifth card and make your Flush ... I am working on the theory of 2 suited on board and two in the hand .

Now what are the odds that someone else will have two suited cards as well as yourself so that you are drawing to the same flush?? I am working on a 9 seater ..but the odds for six seats and three seats would be appreciated if any of you clever chappies or chapess's have them
                               Thanks

Not Poker related .... But in The Falklands as the column advanced the message came in as "Air Raid Red " indicating imminent air attack the column passed the message back and the front were surprised to see the back of the column dancing whilst they lay on the gound Chinese whispers had translated the message to "Galltieries Dead"  ......
