The analytics boys like him fwiw Always think the analytics stats for CBs doesn't quite do the position justice as it's tough to metricise positioning and errors (although errors losing to high xG chances could work). I like Lewis Dunk a lot as a player and he was very high (maybe top) in the shots blocked category last season, but I can recall a few times where he needlessly dived in to block a shot only for a player to side step him leading to a goal or an excellent chance. Bit of a misleading stat without the context and I think that's where the analytics radars for CBs don't work as well as they do for attacking players.

Personally I think he's one of the more overrated players in English football at the moment. Was no better than average for the second half of last season, verging on terrible at the Amex when Swansea lost 4-1. £15mil looks like an over payment even in this day and age. Like a lot of Fulham's other business but Mawson is Champ quality.
fair play, could easily be guilt of oversight myself. Palace seem very quiet in the transfer window on the buying front btw, which i hope means we are simply keen on holding onto Wilf. Worst case scenario for Palace is surely Zaha leaving on deadline day and them scrambling to reinvest? Feels similar to Le Tiss era Southampton at Selhurst right now.

A fella, hitting second, just teed off and his ball came to rest actually touching the ball of his playing partner, some 270 yards down the fairway.
The odds on that must be unimaginably huge.
Even more so as they were actually nestled side by side in the rough. Some fairways have a natural camber which results in a regular collecting position for tee shots but I don't think I've ever seen that happen in the rough before.

my team of the tournament
---------------Lloris------------- ------Varane Maguire Godin------ Trippier----------------------Laxalt ------------Kante Modric------------- ------Hazard Lukaku Mbappe------
Basically this except Lukaku. Classic Lukaku here, beat up on Panama and Tunisia but disappeared against good teams. Was anonymous against France.

Berahino could easily be a 30 goal a season striker at this level with a new gaffer and fully motivated.
Call Easy to call one thing i say that 'could be'. What about the rest of the stuff i said? Seems pretty obvious why we are favs right? Stoke are easily the biggest club financially in the EFL. It isn't even close. How many genuine england keepers have played in the EFL for a season in the last 30 years? This is exactly why I think he'll leave. Stoke might have financial clout but they're going to need to invest heavily imo, in every area.

I know they've got the parachutes payments, Coates money etc, but looking at their squad, what makes them favs to go up? Shaqiri and Butland look like leaving and, other than them, I'm struggling to see the talent that puts them as promotion favs? Despite having a lot of middle table champ talent imo, those players won't be used to the 46 game schedule either which has to be a negative.
Where is Butland going? Non tournement year. He isn't going to be England's number 1 in the next 2 years even if he gets a move to Read Madrid. We got rid of Grant (reserve keeper to Manure) so i find it hard to believe they would get rid of both keepers in one summer or that Grant would leave to be manures 3rd choice if he knew he would be Stoke's auto first choice next year. Joe Allen probably going to stay as well. Isn't too many of him floating around the championship. Shaq is probably the only player who is certain to leave. Who has more talent than us alongside a bigger war chest in both areas that you mention? Berahino could easily be a 30 goal a season striker at this level with a new gaffer and fully motivated. I think there is a lot more talent at champ level than you reckon. Would take Brentford's starting XI over Stoke's currently. I'll take Joe Allen, very good player. Berhaino however, more like to score <30 rest of his career than 30 in a season in the champ. Standard is basically like bottom half of the prem over and over again (aside from bottom 6) and he couldn't score against that oppo for past three years.

He used the rules to his advantage. quick thinking
change the rules, don't blame the player
Thing is, as the rule is written, he should have been disqualified. The USGA just failed to properly apply its own rules. That's not quick thinking or using rules to your advantage, unless you believe he did it thinking the USGA would be afraid to disqualify one of their most popular players in its biggest event of the year (on his birthday).
