4158  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Barcelona World Heads Up - Thursday on: May 19, 2005, 07:30:06 PM
another very good point Kev.  I am starting to think your not as dumb as everyone tells me you are  Wink Smiley

Either way - the sponsors and / or casinos need to start adding the value or people will go elsewhere.  There are so many comps to play in these days people will start to pick and chose and value will be a big consideration!
4159  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Barcelona World Heads Up - Thursday on: May 19, 2005, 07:20:37 PM
I do agree with that Kev but there needs to be a balance.  The sponsors at the moment are piggy-backing the game and benefiting without much input.  Alright - they provide the odd trophy, t-shirts, some chips and a few flyers but is that really enough to warrant being the main 'sponsor' of an event? - they should at least match 50% of the prize pool or something!!

Are you in Barca Russ? - or just well informed?
4161  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Barcelona World Heads Up - Thursday on: May 19, 2005, 07:06:45 PM
well said Keith!
I believe poker should become more like golf and motor racing where the players compete for sponsors money rather than there own as the sponsors are deriving great benefits from players winning the tournaments associated to their names but they actually contribute very little to.  That would mean setting up rankings and regulating which players play in which events accoring to status and rankings but the game needs it.

already looking forward to the game.  I guess its down to us (as champions) to provide the customary crystal prize trophy.  Do you have 9 players that know how to play NLH and can rustle together 250 each? - we could always play 3-a-side if your struggling for a team. -

Just a quick note to let everyone know about some forthcoming special events at Gala Notts.  But beware this card room boasts some of the UK's greatest players so you need to bring your 'A' game with you. - If your from Blackpool you might want to do some reading up on Hold em' theory before tripping down the M6.

4164  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: BLACKPOOL MAIN EVENT - DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE on: May 08, 2005, 06:14:38 PM

The Final has begun, & it's all very quiet right now. Camel is sat there with his i-pod on, trainers, & the same shirt he's had on for a fortnight. And at the other end of the scale, there is the Male Model Carlo Citrone, looking sharp in a beautiful black tailored jacket, over a white crisp t-shirt. And between them is Robert Bellini, who looks like a walking jumble sale, with his avant-garde clothing selection & trendy handbag.

LOL
gotta love Robert's dress sense. - and that moustache - what a guy!

go on Julian, Rob and Nick.  I see the Notts boys are taking the heads up win confidence into the main event.  Surely a result to come from one of them.

Ok team (roughly detailed below) it looks like all games will be played on Friday afternoon.  We can play 2 at a time or one at a time depending on time restraints and how much grinding Tikay is still doing in match one.  Ariston tells me there are now 8 people in Balckpool who know the rules of No limit hold-em' so we have had to bring in a nother man - I did some digging around for a player and have selected a real wild card in trap 8. - He aint called slo-mo for nothing!! - if you think the Tikay match will be a slow one then you aint seen nothing yet!! - enter simon 'slo-mo' Hawksworth.

250 a man to enter and the winner of each match gets 500, and the all important match point.  I think the format will roughly follow that of the World Heads Up.  - 3000 chips with the blinds starting at 25-50 and after 30 mins they go up to 50-100 and that is it. - they don't go up again.

If by some fluke the match finshes 4-4 then there will be a tie break decider for the trophy.

The Notts Line Up

1.Myself
2.Tikay
3.Thewy
4.Rob Yong
5.Nick Whiten
6.Jamie Moult
7.Rumit / Greek Jack / or whoever available)
8. Simon Slo-Mo Hawksworth

I see that Notts player Barry 'Maurice' Neville took down the first prize in the 300 shoot out yesterday - Notts boys only there one day and we win straight away. - its embarrasssing really!
4169  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Notts Poker League on: May 03, 2005, 02:17:51 PM
Next Leagure report is due following the 200 comp.  I am in Notts next Monday and will do a full 1st Quarter round up along with some useful stats and %'s right the way down the standings.  Rob, the card room manager has just had a baby girl so he has been somewhat otherwise occupied, - so results have been a little slower but we will be up and runing again next week.
